Driving The Bakerloo Line (Train Sim World 2)

- Dovetail Games - the makers of Train Sim World 2, which lets you realisitcally drive a Bakerloo Line Underground Tube Train - invited me down to their offices in Chatham, to talk to them to ask about the incredible amount of work that goes behind making this game, that's arguably as good as a simulator!
Train Sim World 2 is available now on Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as is the new Isle of Wight expansion. You can follow @trainsimworld on both Twitter and Facebook.
Geoff, I'm not a tube driver, however I do shunt Class 66s, and when doing so in the dark, as Matt said, I drive with the Cab light off, as driving with it on reduces viability and I get a nice reflection of my high vis clothes (and ugly mug) in the window 😂
Most District line T'OP's keep the light off, myself included.
@@geofftech2are you behind londonist ltd?
Cab light off Geoff, every time. When its on you see a constant reflection of yourself, most off putting.
I guess it depends if you like looking at yourself in your own reflection
Turn it on to have a chat with the person now in front!
@@stevebrown1974 Or your a girl driver
@@Mark50x Are you SURE
@@geofftech2 hiya Geoff!
To answer the question, I drive with the cab lights off, although some of my colleagues prefer to have the lights on.
Reflection in the front windscreen is a problem in the tunnels when the cab is fully lit (at least it is on my line, with the 95's), and with the lights off I get the added advantage of being able to spot any suspicious shadows before entering a lit platform, not to mention it makes monitoring the closed door visuals (the pilot light) much easier.
And in case anyone is wondering, yes, I know where all the buttons and switches are in the dark :)
Things not often modeled in simulators: when leaving a tunnel after nearly an hour underground, you get into the habit of turning the cab light on as soon as you can see daylight to get your eyes accustomed to the sudden brightness, even on overcast days. That prevents being temporarily blinded.
Love your videos, hope to see you on my line soon :)
Interesting point, I'd never have thought of that.👍
@@2H80vids you never thought of reflections and lightings? how dumb!

Geoff, you are bang on with this. Good shout man, nice to see you notice TSW2 - much more than the Bakerloo Line but lovely to have
It's such a great game. Love that you finally made a video of this!
The attention to detail on this line is really interesting, even the passenger lights flicker when there is a break in the circuit.
I wouldn't think that Geoff would do TSW2.
i agree
Love to see Geoff driving the 377s from Brighton to Eastbourne and stopping at a station from 80mph

For so long I’ve wanted this and finally I’ve got it!
Train Sim isn't really my thing but I've got so say, its great the enthusiasm these guys have for the making the finished product.
Great feature Geoff, I’m not a player of video games but I enjoyed your interview all the same.
Mate thank you so much for making this video this is exactly what I needed now I might get isle of white and the tsw2 thank you so much
thanks for posting this video, otherwise I would have no idea this game existed :) added to tonights main activity line, I hope they will do Picadilly eventually,
Another brilliant video! I really enjoyed this :)
thanks for this, i started getting gaming with MS Train Sim then dovetail's Rail Sim and now TSW. great to play train sim to calm down after stressful day
Was expecting Geoff to have a full train sim in his house

I'll have to get one of these...ironic that history's repeating itself "real-train wise," the Bakerloo had the oldest stock on the system with the 1938 Stock in the 70's and 80's, when the '72 Stock was still relatively new...now the '72 Stock's the oldest, again on the Bakerloo!! Re: the '38 Stock on the IoW, I hope they can keep going until January with just 2 trains, they were back to hourly over there yesterday with one broken down out of service. They all got shipped over there in 1988/89 in NSE livery, it's only since privatiseation that they've found their way back into LT red, via that wonderfully garish "dinosaur" livery!!
Ooh, Isle of Wight in addition to the Bakerloo Line! That means Geoff can drive the IoW train and then one day finally get to ride it for real! :D
I just love train simulators. You can drive any train around the world without leaving home. Really makes you appreciate trains and those who drive them to get you to your destination even more
Cool video. I've really enjoyed playing Train Sim World 2 and Train Sim World 2020. The detail in the game is stunning. :)
Yes indeed the graphics are brilliant they have a few issues that they hadn't fixed in tsw 2020 like cement circle scenario with the class 31 on ps4
I played the first TSW game having been a driver out of Manchester Victoria just after the time it was set(Redbank closed while I was in training) I was amazed how the game really captured the experience the developers did a wonderful job.
If I may add I went on to have a pretty unique career working on the railway not just in the UK and would like to answer the real world application question that was asked, this platform could unquestionably be used to train road learning especially around major stations with multiple combinations of routes the issue when you road learn live so to speak is you can spend ages training somewhere(I remember going up to Preston to do so and the first "live" train I ran into the station was through a combination of signaling I had not seen once while road learning, plus there is no "dead" time)
Very interesting and enjoyable video Geoff.
Geoff plays a game... Didnt think id ever see this.
He played Asteroids on his BBC B!
Ah, the Minecraft pig controller - my wife has one to play Xbox with the kids!
Very interesting video - the work that goes into something like this is incredible!
Love this. Need to hold of a copy to have a play now. x
I started playing Train sim world 2020 (Called Train sim world at that point) back in 2018. I have been water a London underground line since I started playing. I played the east coast way when it came out and it was the closest thing to it yet. And then I saw the trailer for Train sim world 2 and there was a tube train in it!!!!!
I have this. Its really good fun. Although its a little bit buggy when you're scenario involves finishing a service and going to a shed, and you still have passengers onboard the tube train you're driving! XD But hey, no game is ever perfect.
oml yes!
we been waiting for this vid for months!
Looks so clean haha
I might have to buy this, I like the Bakerloo line as it's not too far away from where I live and it smells as a Tube line should.
If ever there was a time for Virtual All The Stations...
Wow Geoff, genuinely didn't expect you to play this! Great video :D
I agree
HI DWELLER
Geoff your face when he told you about the Isle of Wight train was priceless.
World of Subways 3 lets you ride the circle line and the hammersmith bit.
The game has been out for years and the detail looks equally as good.
This looks fun. I've had the Japanese train simulator BVE for some time, on Windows and LInux. I have the Northern Line route, and stopping at stations is definitely the hardest skill to master. The level of detail in this is amazing. I'm going to have a decision to make, Steam on Linux on my workstation or Win8.1 on my laptop.
This was a really good episode Geoff! I like that you managed to get a interview with Math. I play TSW 2 on my PC and like it quite much and I am an ex train driver (in Switzerland), and I can confirm that TSW is probably the most realistic in terms of driving experience I've ever seen. TS2020 I also have, and this might be better from a pure graphical point of view, considering the vast selection of routes available, but in dynamics I think TSW is better.
No it’s not, it really isn’t
Geoff x TSW2 = the best possible video on the CZcams algorithm
Awsome Sauce! i hope you could do a livestream on this game soon!
Amazing video ❤ Love the Bakerloo Line woohoo ❤
Me too
It’s a great sim. Got it for xBox One. Dovetail did a great job on the detail and the game experience. From the riders perspective, I’d love to see a little movement of the carriages to get the feel that you are riding. Would love to see this expand to either the Piccadilly line or Central Line
Love the look of this already
I'm not a tube train driver but I have been on the old stock many years ago and the drivers drive with the lights off and the sounds are spot on
Really need the entire underground as a game in this kind of detail.
Train sim world TFL, make it dovetail! DLR (which you can drive) overground and purp trains included
@@JoeDobisz Yes that would be amazing, something I have always wanted!
That will take years to complete
Well that's different. Lovely video.
Most tube drivers drive with the cab light off, I don’t often see them drive with the light on. Usually when I’ve gotten a lift in the cab the Train Op puts the light on so we can see each other whilst we talk. I’ve only had three TO’s drive with the light off with me in the cab.
Now the Picc. I would be very interested if that came out. I have a friend who drives on the Picc and would love to hear what she had to say about it. Great work.
Train World Simulator 2. Yes. 😂
Ah Chatham Station. Commuted in the 80's from there to Cannon Street. Memories.
I live there, Even got the bus from there until I went to college
TSW is gr8 with the feature of being able to walk along the coaches inside and choose what seat to sit on 😀👍. Also walking from coach to coach and opening and shutting the doors is really gr8 . I hope TSW will add more routes as time goes on, like the scottish routes .
Train simulation is amazing it will grow and increase to be the best
That's Matt! Used to do TS stuff at model railway shows.
I've always wanted you to do this :D
This was a cool interview tho, these are questions i would of asked also
Would be nice if Dovetail would support the RailDriver USB accessory on PC, add in a sprinkle of VR and then you would have truly an immersive experience! :) Great video Geoff!
An update to the game to allow those to be used should be out soon, if it's not already out.
@@DWtrainsNZ RailDriver - soon. It's on the roadmap amnd being worked on. VR - not plans at this time but as a huge fan of VR myself, i'm keeping a close eye on it :)

I completely missed this back then and just found it for free in the Epic Game Store. I hope it was a succes despite that though because this seems lovely! Will definitely play it tonight and see how it 'feels'. If I play it enough, I'll make sure to get some DLC :)

Hi, Geoff nice video! I have always been a big fan of your channel and trains. I've always wanted to meet you!

I’m more into Train Simulator (2021) the latest version than Train Sim World 2 but it was a lovely interview indeed.
They are both made by the same company
@@86Dillan That's right, but Train Simulator 2021 started at Railworks, before that there used to be Microsoft Train Simulator which was a good game for it's time and some people still play it today but the point of my post was is saying I play DTG's Train Simulator than TSW2
Light on or light off, bit like socks on or socks off! ;)
Great!
Great video love tsw2
Still find it insane that Train Sim 2021 total DLC cost is like £10k, no joke.
Dovetail LOVE money. Like nobody else.
That's what you get from a ten year old product with a ton of third party developers :)
I've never heard of anyone buying everything. Beyond the standard packs, people buy the countries, routes, periods and locos that interest them and ignore the rest.
Yes and coming this week barely a week after The Isle Of Wight Add-on is another add-on this time on DB's Hauptstrecke route between Munich and Augsburg.
West Coast Main Line at Queens Park, Geoff 😀
It’s a great game. Only negative is that they have missed out the automatic train announcements, which is a massive part of the experience I feel. The very best/realistic tube sim to date for me is World of Subways - Circle Line. This Bakerloo one does comes a close second. I hope they do the Piccadilly next, Uxbridge to Cockfosters - that’s a healthy length of a line!
I'm going to be getting TSW 2. I can't wait for it
YESSSSSSSS FINALLY GEOFF
I have this game, definitely recommend, worth the money (isle of wight island line came out for it today too, with 1938 stock)!
I did work experience at Morden in 2004. The drivers I spoke to all said that they preferred to run with the can lights off, purely on the basis that they're able to see the signals properly
Great video, I’ve just bought the Isle Of Wight line. However, I am still confused if you’ve been there or not!

Finally Geoff get his hand on TSW2. You might be surprised how much of a following this game has.
The Bakerloo Line comes out on the West Coast Mainline
Have this game for Xbox, constantly play it
I have this game, I also have the island line add on and the east coastway ( southern rail ) add ons
I love what dovetail does. They just need to focus a bit more on fixing bugs. Quite often their games are quite bug ridden. However they do fix them in time. I think they are small so this does make sense. Niche market however so sad. I hope one day they make a version of their sim that is completely compatible with VR and steam locos. Would be nice to actually have to turn valves and grab a shovel and fire a boiler.
The new off the rails and livery designer opens anything up. Remember in secrets of the Elizabeth line you mentioned purple trains being introduced on the IOW...
