I've used my DV12-MKII speakers for a couple years now. I also have the matching subs (3 x SSP118's), but I primarily use the tops for outdoor gigs. Crystal clear sound and punchy bass blocks away! They are a beast to transport and handle, but the quality can be heard and felt.
Nice speakers. I agree with you Barr. Today's speakers are tuned great. so in the past we had to sometimes bring another mixer to tune the hell out of the speakers. but now a days the output of a Rane mixer or nexus mixer of even a S9 is all you need.
Bassboss is the real deal. I hear some complainers on the price. You get what you pay for. I have 2 of the ZV28s and 2 of the VS 21s. That combo will play down to 20hz and kick you in the chest(HARD). Which is funny because most people don't even know what 20hz even sounds like or feels like. You made a great purchase. I also am running SRX 15s for tops and want to upgrade to these tops soon.

Good Stuff! Hell i thought i was splurging when i bought a pair of Yamaha DZR but looking at the price tag on these bad boyz the pair i bought didn't even beat the price of just one of these lol
Thanks so much for doing this review. I saw them at a DJ Conference a couple of years ago and was blown away by the quality of sound. I plan on getting a pair hopefully soon. So... quick question on this. Are these speakers 50 lbs. or 63 lbs.? I have seen differing answers on this. Either way, sounds like they are phenomenal, but I was just curious on that. Thanks again!
What is it with people and bathtub sound? Compared to ANY professional speaker in this pricerange, the bassboss dv12 are garbage. No flat response, awfull rigging, heavy, strange coverage pattern (compareable to y10p from d&b).....
Yeah that sounds pretty amazing but unfortunately in Australia there are over $5000 one speaker. When you convert the US dollar to Australian dollars when it hurts.
Iâve heard these at the Namm show before COVID in LA. They blew every single brand out the water there wasnât even a close comparison. Their sub will make your heart skip beats no lie!
I bet you they won't beat the rcf art 945a system, rcf is a quality brand and is known for there care and craft in there speakers. Side by side comparison RCF will win 4inch vc for the tweeter driver that thing is a beast. I bet if you do a side to side comparison compared to bass boss. I'm a person I care aby the quality of sound. And RCF just sings to you and is regarded as high fidelity and close to studio monitors.

I own several Mackie SRM 450's and a pair of DV12 Micromains... While I love the Mackie design, I can't argue the sound quality of BassBoss. They have poor ergonomics though. The handles are in funky places (Mackie handles are on the sides), they are hard to lift, and the bottom loaded velcro bags are ONLY for protection - they don't even have pockets for cords and such. Even with all the inconvenient handling features, they sound amazing! I will never do an outdoor gig with Mackies again... BassBoss all the way. BTW, I also own three BassBoss SSP118 subs.
Random question: Why are subwoofers always placed on the floor? Is bass meant to be felt through the floor with our feet? I get the practical standpoint that subs are usually heavy and wouldn't hold up on a stand - but just wondering if that's the only reason.
Simply bass especially subs are usually felt and not heard, most people canât hear below 35-40 hertz but can feel it. The bass you âhearâ is usually mid bass. Hence why subs are usually on the ground. If you put a full range speaker on the ground shooting at peoples feet, the energy is lost very quickly in the high end due to the sound waves moving quickly and being absorbed. Subwoofers are omnidirectional in a natural format. Cardioid subs let the energy shoot more frontward and cancel out rearward. I fly subs in arenas all the time and we use it more for imaging the large format PA. Also subs on speaker stands (they donât exist) would be very ineffective for most DJ applications, including the reason they arenât designed for that and itâs completely unnecessary to be head height, due to being omnidirectional. 2 way top boxes should be over head height for maximum throw distance and not shooting into peoples ears.
Itâs called ground coupling. You get an extra 3-6db of spl. Actually if you have a wall next to them it works even better. We do fly(hang) them time to time depending on what our space limitations are but it takes more power to do that as you lose the extra sound you get from coupling. Hope that helps.
If you dont like the look of the horn paint it so you do not see the orange horn. I like them honestly something different and I know Bassboss hits hard heard them myself.
I've been curious about these. I feel like these are right at the point of diminishing return. Anything more expensive than this for mobile work I think you'll be wasting your money. A single set of speakers can only sound so good lol.
