How to Make Double Exposure Videos!

- Filming double exposure videos is a great way to spice up your videos and all you need is a camera! I show you how to create simple double exposure videos without any lights or fancy gear.
WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Camera - Can really be anything, Canon, Sony, Panasonic, doesn't matter.
2. Subject - For this type of double exposure, you need footage of a subject in front of a white background. This could be a person, object, even a landscape with a bright background. For lighting, I simply used a blown out background by filming in my garage. You could also use a bright window or door.
3. Background - This background will be over or under-layed behind your subject. Could be photos, videos anything! Like I said in the video, something with lots of dynamic range (bright and dark areas) works best. Feel free to move the background to the best spot behind your subject footage.
THATS IT!

What do you guys think of this double exposure technique? Any tips of your own? Thanks for all the love!
Awesome technique. I think we will give it a try soon.
Mind blown! I was half expecting this to be a ton of rotoscoping work but you made it look easy and most importantly, fast! Thanks for sharing! Your channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites!
EPIC!
I can’t wait to try this out! And the grading tips...very helpful. Thanks, Caleb!!
Really cool Effect! Love the look and Vibe this gives off! Looking into your final cut makes me wonder what plugins you use. Especially for color grading. You should do a video going through your favorite plug ins for final cut!
STOKED to play with this technique and shocked at how simple it was to pull it off. Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks! Thats my favorite part. Its not difficult!!!
I liked this technique in the intro of True Detectives. They just rotated the industrial landscape footage by 90°, so the bodies and faces of the actors faded sort of out … so awesome! Thanks for the video.
You said the "sky was the limit" but I hate to limit myself to just the sky. I'm thinking underwater shots would look amazing!!
I thought the same thing. I'm gonna do the over exposure part today and then overlay my uw images.
Love that intro !! Didn't think I would ever see a tutorial like this here. Awesome !! Keep it up !!
Been trying to do this for a while so perfect timing. Indrepreneur sent me!! Thanks so much! 🦋😍🧚🏼♂️
Totally excited to try this! Thank you sir! Stuff like this is why you continue to soar.
OMG. How is it that freaking easy?! I love this. Super neat idea for a video. Great job, dude!
I am going into a meeting this morning to make our high school seniors sales stronger.....I believe you have given me something excellent to bring to the table. Keep up the great work!
Great video! I loved the opening sequence. You never fail to lift the curtain and reveal how something that seemed so complicated can be achieved so easily. You've given me some great ideas on how and where to use this awesome effect. Thanks:)
Sooo awesome! This is what amazes me about you, Caleb. You have stuff and hacks I don't see elsewhere. Such a unique and valuable channel! Thanks for all you do
I LOVE when you do videos like this. We want to see cool art stuff. Great video!
I've known about screening for a while now. I use it to turn text into moving images overlaid on a background. But I've never thought to use it like this! So creative, thanks for the inspiration
This is one of your best videos yet! Would love to see more of this style of tutorial for creative editing.
Surprisingly easy, high quality effect. Well done. Full Stack Creative sent me and I'm glad they did.
Clever project man! Well done, hope this one blows up for ya
I can't take it anymore......I subscribed. Dude, this double-exposure technique is so cool!! I like that your channel covers special effects and the nuts and bolts(lighting, etc). You're doing an awesome job with these videos. Keep em coming!!

I'm a big fan of Double Exposure photography. I can't wait to try this with video. Thanks for sharing the technique.
Really fun! I love learning more about these special-use-case techniques. I am not sure I'd use it very often, but it helps to stretch those creative muscles and see what is possible with a few simple tools. Keep it up.
This is seriously sick. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. I love it when creatives share their process and secrets. You totally rock =]

So cool! Thanks so much for sharing!
Oh!! This is so cool!!! Thanks for that!
You killed it with this one man! All of my gear was stolen from my home Monday, but when I get another camera and (hopefully) computer next year, this will be one of the first things I try!
Wow awesome tutorial Caleb! Would love to see more tutorials like this in the future!
Awesome video as always!
BTW this effect is used in True Detective intro and looks really beautiful and atmospheric
Thanks! Yeah I probably should have mentioned some examples.
Dope! You’re freakin Jason Bourne!!! That garage tip was genius. Very cool double exposures man.
Congrats Caleb, this technique is really great ! Thanks ! :-)
Thank you so much for posting this Caleb, it's a very cool technique and you really simplify it. I've read a few of the comments, and yeah, you could use green screen and a whole bundle of other complex effects, but what you've shown is a way for relative beginners like me to do something really imaginative - thank you!
freeaking dope intro brotha, that was FIYA!!!!!
WOW! Awesome images and great tutorial! I think I'll try to do it myself. Thank you!
Super duper Caleb....thanks and have a kick butt creative day.
Amazing tutorial! Thank you!
I always wondered how this was done. Its basically in every intro for every tv show these days. I thought it had to be done in after effects and was super complicated...I should've none. This is an excellent tutorial! Thanks, you are one of the best on CZcams for these kind of vids. I'm hoping to get to your level eventually.
Thank you Michael!
Awesome video Caleb, I think tutorials like this will accelerate well deserved growth for your channel!

Thanks Alpha! More already planned! Gotta keep the channel from getting to gear heavy ;-)
100% agree this style of tutorial has a good chance of going viral and I hope it does because it's rad!
DSLR Video Shooter Yeah exactly, don't get me wrong I love Peter McKinnon and other similar channels, but your content brings so much more value overall being more in depth, meticulous and hard to figure out on one's own and I get pissed off when value isn't met with equal levels of recognition. Lol enough of my ranting, have a great day!
Dude, this is so simple and awesome! Thanks, Caleb!
Right when we thought Caleb couldn't get any dreamier. Good stuff as always!
So fun! Can’t wait to go experiment with this! Thanks man!
