  • In this first part of our seven part interview with the late John McCririck he talks of his Mother's plans for his future as opposed to actually what happened, working for an illegal one-armed street bookmaker named 'Wingy' and on course clerking for racecourse layers.

R.I.P John....I was Very sad to hear the news that John had passed away.....i am old enough to remember watching him on TV in the 80s and 90s.....I even met him one racing day at Sandown, had my photo taken with him, he was a lovely man....he had a lot time for the ordinary punter.
John you will be sadly missed.

Absolute disgrace that some large villages don't have a betting shop at all these days

RIP John ,you will be sadly missed by all horse racing fans, watching you in the betting ring made my Saturday racing more enjoyable,it was an utter disgrace the way channel four treated you,a genuine nice guy off screen, and not the pantomime character you portrayed for the viewers 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

The reason why he has lost so much weight is because he got the flu which lead to a chest infection which resulted in the dramatic weight loss
