Josue Duverger otherwise played a very good game. He was being battered in goal throughout the first half, and kept it scoreless. I suspect this gaffe was a result of some kind of physical tiredness or dehydration (?) - though it occurred shortly after the half. I wish him well over the course of his career.

Remember when the majority of our team were free agents
remember when Tosaint Ricketts would start every game for us
when we would draw 0-0 with Puerto Rico and Antigua and Barbuda
when we would need a penalty and a red card to beat Saint Lucia at home
when we would struggle to get a result vs Belize in Belmopan and would have even lost the game if not for an amazing save by Borjan at the end
when we didn't score a goal of any kind for 2 straight gold cups, and didn't score a non-penalty goal for 3 straight gold cups
    when we lost to Martinique
when we scored 1 goal in 14 games over the course of a calendar year, including a 1-0 loss to Mauritiana
Look how far we've come. Cherish these moments because you never know how long they will last. This is a milestone moment for Canada and I am absolutely ecstatic to see us in the Oct, where I for one think we are more than good enough to at least make the top 4.
And also: While Herdman deserves a ton of credit, don't forget the work that Benito Floro did, steadying the ship, teaching the team good fundamental defensive play as well as getting Cavallini at least interested in re-joining the team, and most importantly convincing Junior Hoilett to play for us.
And don't forget the role Octavio Zambrano has had in this as well, not only cap tying Phonzie but for letting the whole team express themselves and begin to play a fluid, free flowing attacking playstyle, and leading us to our best Gold Cup showing in ages.

@Abhirup Nath A lot of the players are children of immigrants, especially from the Caribbean. Several White players are as well, like Eustáquio or Borjan.
Athletic Canadians who are born to White families with long histories in the country (whether French, Scottish, English, etc) tend towards hockey rather than soccer.
Perhaps this will change now that MLS is well established, the CPL has opened, and the national team is getting good results.

Canada has only played in Vancouver 4 times since 2015, prior to 2015 they hadn't played in Vancouver since 1986 (games in Burnaby excluded). All of the recent previous 4 games in Vancouver have been either lower round qualifying for Nations League or the World Cup, not anything this high up. This is one of the reasons why Vancouver has been ruled out as a host city for the 2026 World Cup - they can't easily support grass inside BC Place (due to light and humidity issues). Additionally, the City and Province didn't want to support the cost. Only Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal have been selected....and Edmonton (Commonwealth) and Montreal (Olympic) will have to install grass specifically for the World Cup.

Haitian goalkeeper was outstanding, yes he conceded three goals but he stopped and he save more than six. Most people be laughing about his one mistake, forgetting that we all are human and even the best goalkeepers in the world made mistakes as well.
During this game I didn’t pay attention to the mistakes Haiti made but I have pay attention to how they have been improving year after year even though they don’t have big name players which play in big clubs.
I’m not proud of the lost but I’m proud of the hard work that each and every individual Haitian player are putting for the country.
    J. Duverger keep it up, I’m proud of you and all Haitians should be as well. 🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹

This is the most talent we have ever had, including under Towers and Osiek, so hats off to Erdmann for not screwing up, which has been our trademark for 40 years. We need to stay focussed and ruthless against the bottom of the octagon and we have a legitimate chance of qualifying- unless our stupid government renders home games away games in the US.

The sad part is that the keeper did so well elsewhere in the match, really sad that he flunked it right there. But I still think Canada would have won anyway though. I hope you guys do well in the last round except against the US ;) But it will be tough for Canada. Your defense is really bad. I hope you will get better players in those positions in the future. And last, I really hope you give Mexico a hard time. It's time for the other CONCACAF members to take on Mexico.
