Remember about shrapnel protection layer. If kevlar is not available contact someone who can cover it with a thick layer of gum with some fiberglass reinforcement for example. A lot of people and businesses are eager to help UA during this war time.
Nice video 👍, it's great that someone is trying to help find cheap and affordable ballistic protection. However, as someone has already mentioned, there is a problem with ricocheted bullets and shrapnel, can cause serious injuries ⚠️. But it has a solution. It is necessary to wrap the plate in about 5-6 layers of Kevlar fabric (the more, the better). An old damaged ballistic vest can be used as a source of material. Kevlar fabric can be cut with sharp tailor's scissors. It is important that the plate is wrapped so that shrapnel cannot fly to the sides !!!

Also: I used a thin looped pile commercial carpet cut to profile then glued onto the strike face - pile side facing inwards & backing facing outwards from strike face as a anti spalling layer, then a thin wrap layer of duct tape just for good measure. 🇨🇦👍🇺🇦
Not sure but the test would been even better if the plate was held steady and had weight support behind it, so it doesnt move when hit and had to absorb full impact. Similar to a body would be behind a plate in real scenario.

Co střepiny střel po zásahu plátu? Zastaví je běžný nosič plátů? Bylo by na prd, kdyby plát zastavil střelu, ale zároveň střepiny prosekly krk a bradu zespoda....

Hardox is a cheaper alternative to AR-STEEL .....
The huge advantage is, that you not need to pre-warm up before welding.
And the wire is cheap too.
This is literary a confirmation on idea that I had. Will 500 x6mm be enough vs ak with ap army bullets? I think 8mm would be lvl4 ish. 308/762 ap. If you have a small piece of 8mm hardox I can arrange testing with AP here in UA. Weight is bad but its something.
Do russians use 7.62x39 amror piercing as standard army issue?
@@user-mz6ts4xn6i 7,62x39 and 5,45x39 PS rounds - mild steel core (MSC). Standard issue for most armies now. 7mm hardox 500 don't stop standard Ball/FMJ Mosin 7,62x54 round - tested in Poland.
@@milekhh would a few layers of kevlar at the front and back of 6mm plate make a difference or would it still penetrate?
@@michals5873 few layers is not enough. Hardox 500 isn't good replacement for armor steel, but Hardox 600 is very good at stopping most rounds. Still it needs to be at least 7mm and have antispalling coating, with kevlar backing it will be propper level 3+. Btw. Hardox extreme is too fragile and after impact it shatters like glass, so hardox 600 is sweetspot.

You use a thick 15mm rubber mat and glue it with gorilla glue to the steel plate. Then wrap it in gorilla tape with a thick layer

Já mám ještě jednu otázku, co tříštění střel? U kevlaru to vše zůstane v kevlaru, keramika se rozdrtí a střelu taky pohltí. Nebude naopak nebezpečnější to schytat úlomkama pláště a jádra co lítá všude kolem?
Pořád asi lepší než nic. Ale jsou důvody proč se moc ocelový pláty nepoužívají.
Jsem jen strojař a příležitostnej střelec, ale tohle je první věc co mě napadla.
Nejsem expert, ale tohle je co vím: Typicky se tyto pláty prodávají pogumované, což zmírňuje efekt střepin (ale ne úplně, zejména po více zásazích). Možná byste našel i pláty omotané kevlarem. Tak či tak je to velmi drahé a hodně lidí by na to nemuselo mít peníze, takže to, co tady pán prodává, mi přijde za tu cenu bezva. Jinak s vámi souhlasím, že by pořád bylo asi lepší schytat pár střepin někam do čelisti, než kulku do srdce. Tady je video o oceli proti keramice: czcams.com/video/EnkVLz-Zrog/video.html

@@jansafarik4977 Joo, ale ta cena teda moc neodpovídá "dirt cheap about 25 euro" kdyby za tu cenu byly, tak hned beru dva ale za 1400 jeden mi přijde trochu přehnané.
@@Miki-oh2bp nejsou pro Vas. Jsou pro lidi kteri je potrebuji, protoze je valka. Tem se davaji za naklady. Pokud je kupuje nekdo v CR, tak jen protoze maji strach a zajebali vlastni pripravu. V takovem pripade k tomu pristupuji jako k podnikatelskemu zameru. Aktualne 1400,-/kus
@@jansafarik4977 Když nejsou pro mě, tak proč je nabízíte na svých stránkách? Za 1400/plát si je třeba strčte za klobouk. Pochopil bych kdyby ste udělal třeba akci na podporu Ukrajině: kupte jeden za dvojnasobek ceny, jeden pujde na ukrajinu zdarma. Ale při Vašem přístupu Vám nebudu pomáhat namastit si kapsu. Pláty nemají žádnou certifikaci a nejsou ani ohnuté, takové se dají sehnat levněji.
@@Miki-oh2bp po tom co všechno dělám a co už jsem udělal mi přijde fascinující že si někdo myslí že finance použiju k tomu abych si pořídil nějaké marnivosti, nebo jak říkáte namastil si kapsu. Utržené finance z podobných věcí jdou na podporu tvorby příležitostí aby si lidé mohli pomoci sami. To je způsob jakým životem žiju.
Až finance utržené prodejem marnivostí jdou na podporu mého blahobytu. To není tento případ.

man! Armor vest doesn't for hunters... Why didn't you test it with AP or LAP? Muscovians dogs use ONLY these types of cartridges.

Test it with normal 7,62x51 FMJ/Ball not hollow point. If it pass it is level 3 NIJ.

@@carlll6101 true, we tested in Poland 7mm Hardox 500 and FMJ mosin round (7,62x54R) penetrated without any problem. 8mm of hardox 600 stopped it tho, but its impossible to get it now.

@@honzikkubik7935 it is nothing. 7,62 will punch thru like it's not there (penetrator) that's 1, second if for some reason it will not penetrate or god know why it will be lead bullet there is nothing to catch splinters, and those "small shrapnels" will injure your face/throat or other parts of your body. And this may let so something more that significant emotional event, especially that those "small sharpnels" may penetrate up to 25mm of soft tissue.
Leaving aside anti spalling coating, you can see here that he is shooting with civilian ammo, so no steel core in the bullets. That would place it around Lvel IIIA/Level III like the very first AR500... but to stop military used ammo you need Level III+ Hardox is to soft 540 HBW in comparison to AR500 (which you can also buy as plates to cut) at 650 HBW.

Skákej třeba, pokud nejsi 50kg nebo naopak 500kg cápek, tak ti nějaká ocel nemůže uškodit, není to zas tak těžké
@Jaderný Ježíš Věř mi, že ve válce budeš nosit třeba i plechový výko od popelnice, když bys věděl, že tě to ochrání a zvláště pak když víš, že okolo tebe líta .308 winchester. To jsou náboje s výkonem přes 1500J a to fakt nechceš do hrudníku.

@@nemoradian4465 díky za upřesnění. Já se řídil zákonem o Myslivosti a tam je specifikováno, že se srnčí a jelení loví ráží s výkonem minimálně 1500J. Proto mají myslivci ráží .308 Win. neb ta to splňuje.
