    ThorpyFX have been teaming of with legendary Lovetone designer Dan Coggins, and the Camoflange makes this their second masterpiece in the modulation category. This all analog flanger is aimed at those looking for maximum versatility and the highest possible build quality. At the heart of this color changing effect is a NOS Matsushita bucket brigade device from Mr Coggin’s personal inventory, a sure fire way to tap into holy grail flange tones as well as modern sounds thanks to this pedal’s extensive controls. Firstly, the Camoflange has a rare feature in most flangers, a blend control. This allows you to dial in the perfect mix of dry and wet signals and place extreme settings back in the mix. You can also send the wet and dry to different amps with separate outputs. Along with rate and depth, the manual control adjusts the freq and delay range of the effect from very dry and hollow to watery chorus and pitch bending. Crucial to any flanger is the feedback control, and the so the Harmonics knob, you get both negative and positive feedback for different textures and intensities that go into oscillation. Another rare site of a flanger is tone control, so the Treble knob was added to tame pitch bending or swooshing sounds, especially when stacked with dirt pedals. The Thorpy Camoflange is loaded with premium, audiophile components and runs on standard 9V power. Check out ThorpyFX.com for more info.

    I was fortunate to get one of the first run serial #29 and absolutely love this pedal. It’s my first high end expensive one too and well worth it. This demo was not available at the time of order so can definitely see why this pedal is in great demand. Excellent playing by Andy to capture so many delish tones.

    Surprised you didn't use it as a resonance boost. (Turn the sweep to zero, then adjust the manual to tune the frequency.) That's how I usually use my ADA, though it also has the added trick of letting you adjust manual on the fly with an expression pedal.

    Can you please do a video showing how you eliminate 60hz hum from yr single coil sound? Every demo you’ve done with single coil guitars sounds dead quiet besides your signal. I’ve tried shielding, “power conditioning”, etc and my single coil guitars *cannot* deliver a noiseless signal like that. I listen for it on every demo... never even a hint of 60hz.

    • @AndyDemos
      @AndyDemos  Před 4 lety +9

      Oqsy I don’t eliminate the hum or use noise gates, I just think it comes from playing fairly loud. You make sure the signal is louder than the noise 👍🏻

    • @oqsy
      @oqsy Před 4 lety +1

      AndyDemos Fair enough! I think I have particularly noisy AC in my house bc the entire downstairs is lit with fluorescent bulbs. When I turn up, the “brrrrrr” turns up with it ;)
      Thanks for the reply and all the awesome demos over the years. Your playing is inspiring and your song choice is always top notch! I mostly watch to hear you play and pick up things to improve my playing more than being a big gear buyer (although I did buy a compressor and an earthquaker pedal bc of your demos).

    • @AndyDemos
      @AndyDemos  Před 4 lety +5

      Oqsy Fluorescent lights, that’ll do it! You can swap those for LED tubes. Thanks for watching😁

    • @JohnShalamskas
      @JohnShalamskas Před 4 lety +1

      Cellphones nearby will contribute noise too, they emit radio frequency energy that gets into the audio circuitry.

    • @JohnShalamskas
      @JohnShalamskas Před 4 lety +2

      There are cheap LED light bulbs that will radiate noise well into the the VHF frequencies! Phillips, Sylvania, and other name brands reportedly have filtering to reduce their noise output. Use an AM radio receiver tuned in between stations to sniff around your room for noise sources. You can also try to shut off / unplug everything in the room and add back things one at a time to identify noise sources.

  • @Briguygtr
    @Briguygtr Před 4 lety +1

    It does sound fantastic with a lot of control/variation over your tone, but I think the Hartman Flanger kills this for warmth and accuracy of the original Mistress, the Retro-Sonic demos Ive seen sound fantastic as well, I will check one out when I can...the problem with the Hartman and this are their size, which has me considering the Retro....but ultimately sound quality is always the deciding factor for me, my mooer was ok in a pinch, albeit different, but I had to rebuy a Hartman after hearing it lol, it kills for Police chord-y sounds and more importantly Lifeson

    This is a nice pedal but it’s over rated due to that pedal show a bit.
    Does it come close to a mistress? Yeah. Does it add a bit more features-yeah.
    But does it’s tone have a depth and amazing ness like the original that knocks you out ? Meh no
    It’s a good pedal don’t get me wrong and YMMV but I have had it 6 months and I’m selling it. Personally I think the Mooer in the sweet spot is close enough and that it’s not as good as an original mistress. You are better spending the same $ on a Mooer Elec Lady and a Boss Waza CE-2 and having a few $ left over IMO
    Or get a Strymon Deco and have a different but funner through zero that can come close with the other flange sounds and has super great fidelity.
    I dunno. I got caught up in the hype of Dan at that pedal show when I bought it… …..and though it comes close and adds additional features….tone wise it’s just not knocking me out like an original EM.
