You are just a young lad, but you might be the most expressive guitar player I have ever seen. Keep up the great work! You are amazing.
Who else is waiting for a practice method video! Would love to know what at least some tricks you use to help you to play the way you do!
Nice to see you using the Strat, Chris...sounds awesome!!🎶🎸😁
Gosh Chris what a privilege to listen to your cast today. Can you imagine me as a child growing up to listen at festivals in the Woodstock era as a young teenager? Then later to marry and play at a Pan-American Festival in Long Beach California with my own group in the late seventies to thousands upon thousands of folks on the greens like I was just ten years earlier? THEN you play these awesome UNIVIBE leads for us today. I am taken back like time travel. Not fifteen years ago I went to Harmony park and thrilled to the same Vibes with friends in Minnesota at just 56-7 years of age! These things you share with us are multi-generational gifts of music arts. I am very grateful for your work today. Humble thanks, Sam Hatman still playing every day mostly in Church at 70.... and we shamelessly rock, my young brother. Shall it ever be so!!!
To you folks who live in the UK and have an opportunity to see Chris Buck live … wow, one day you will say you were there way back when. Please catch a show for me!!
God I could listen to a full-on jam session based on that intro All. Day Long.
Always love to see the strat come back out! Fantastic episode. Thanks Chris!
Great Video Chris
r u serious! Chris just blew my mind with the beginning solo This is why Chris is one of the best guitarists today!
I think that is the most I've seen you playing with a plectrum out of all your videos! You've got a very expressive technique, it's really an inspiration to listen and watch you play.
Chris is getting pretty good…. Understatement of the year
I know right? If he works hard he might have potential 😂
Outstanding movement and control, Amazing Sound, Love You Chris, enjoy everything you do, ❤ Lisa E.
Wow Chris outro was brilliant very Trower/ Hendrix thanks Chris
Yep i said this before, but i do so look forward to your Friday fretworks…your reviews on these spectacular vintage pieces of gear, and well, your playing mate…your love of the history of music is so refreshing, snd hopefully inspires many more players, to respect, adn research there own place in musical history…thanks as always Chris…well appreciated.
I know this gets said on every Friday Fretworks video but Jesus what an intro!
Rick Beato really needs to get Chris in for an interview. He’s obviously the most underappreciated guitarist in the world. The Rick Beato channel could do a lot for him.
Fascinating and incredibly well delivered. Thank you
Your playing is awesome mate , probably my favourite guitarist to be honest , so melodic and not to flashy
Me Too
What a great video! Magic sounds and playing! Thanks.
Another great and informative video. Great playing as usual to !!! Keep up the great work 🎸
excellent ... both the artistry of your playing and the history
Wow, what jam in the opening. Chris This was an amazing episode. Well done
Love the outro Chris! Cheers
Thanks for the deep-dive into the technology involved, including the incredible origin story
I never knew much about this . Great video. Great playing as ever .
Unbelievable playing in this weeks video Chris! Hats off
Love your playing style. Started listening to your band tonight and love it!
Incredibly well researched history lesson in addition to some of the most exciting playing currently on offer ANYWHERE. Great work Chris.
Conclusion was dope -- great writing this week!
Pffffffff that was fire in ur intro jam omg 🔥🔥🔥🎶👌🏻
Your playing is next level. Amazing.
Killer intro solo!! Thanks a lot for your video :)
The Effectrode Tube-Vibe, is an often overlooked Uni-Vibe soundalike. It uses valves and has a beautiful warm, vibe tone, that can be controlled with a footswitch. It pairs nicely with a Fuzz Face too.
Yup - I was going to mention that one, too! Beautiful, natural sound - classic 'Floyd'. I have the Effectrode Blackbird - my 'always on' Dumblish Valve Pre-Amp Pedal.
Are you kidding me? Killer playing mate!
Wow!!!! What a jam in the intro. Goosebumps all over.
Best I've seen on this channel in a long time... anyone know what song it is over? Sounds familiar...
Great to the see the Gen 1 Revstar making a return. Looks and sounds awesome.
The way you finished the line at 11:24 - 11:27 ... really cool sound. Amongst many but just stood out to me.
Hey brother... YOU Kill IT!!!! I started playing guitar at 15 when first was given the album "Are You Experienced"... You obviously are...
Was messing with my Wampler Terraform earlier and totally forgot there's a nice recreation of the Vibe in there. So many pedals, so little time. Nice work Mr Chris as usual. Will be looking to gig this wonderful sound ASAP.
So good jams 👀🤘
It's shocking how good the Helix Uni-Vibe sound is. Incredibly musical and usable.
Yeah thought that too wonder if anyone has any thoughts on how to dial Chris’s outro tone on the Stomp ?
my face just melted
Holy cow Chris is using the plectrum!! See everyone it's not just a placebo!!
Crazy little jam there young man. 🎵🎶🎭
Another great video. Well done and thanks. By the way the playing was fantastic.
Hey Chris, during the intro I was able to watch you using a black pick instead of the purple, so max grip now. Outstanding sound and style, great use of the vol and tone knob. And that red strat Growls. Cheers.
Honey was incorporared by Shinei which then selled different types of Univibes to other companies which rebranded them. One of the models of Shinei was the Resly Tone whose name curiously resembles the Leslie rotary speaker. Maybe this was the origin of the misbelieve that it has inspired the Univibe. Shinei disappeared and after some decades its named was bought by a not related different company that hired a pedal designer to make new vibes. He renounced and designed his own version which is the actual Sir Henry.
Definitely nice to see and hear the Strat again!
Thank you, Chris…. Very much.
I always love when Trey gets a little attention in these videos. Why he's not talked about as one of the best guitar players today I will never know. What I do know is I've seen him live at least 75 times and he is a straight up magician with his guitar rig. Great episode dude.
Trey is seriously one of the best live performing guitar players of the last 30 years. The first time I saw Phish was in a bar in the early 90's and I was just blown away. It was so cool to see the band in a small environment like that. Cheers Adam
Trey doesn’t get the love he deserves as so many people dismiss Phish without ever having given a listen. Same reason Fish is never in the conversation for great drummers. Not many (if any) are doing it better than him these days. They put on a masterclass every night.
Mostly anything he played between 1990-2000. I miss that Trey
Love that outro. Probably the most Hendrix sounding bit I've heard, and NOT copying a single Jimi lick in it, but doing your own things.
Killer player hands down best CZcams player
I don't play guitar, I just come here to listen to you play it! That sounded awesome indeed.
Thanks for highlighting this pedal. My Viscous Vibe is permanently on, just slightly: for a bit of space.
The strat sounds the best!
Wow that outro! 🤯🎸👍
Jeebus Crispus, you are such a fantastic player Chris!! 😮
respect lad ...you got it
This opening solo is among my favorites from your FFWs
Philip Sayce kills it with the Uni-Vibe
I echo the comment about the strat sounding fantastic.
Incredible eyebrows!
I have a Korg Nu-Vibe unit and it sounds amazing as well as having the ability to change the waveform of the vibe. It can do anything from slight vibrato to full on ring modulation all with the movement of a couple sliders. It is amazing and relatively cheap!
Undeniably the very best electric rock guitarist in the world today!!!
@@ebisu8824 silly trolls
. . .
Killer sounds, killer playing & the referenced Doyle Bramhall II track is excellent indeed.
Yay! Out comes that Strat! Hooray!
Your playing is sensational I think you might be my favourite guitar player ever. Just wondering if there is a place where I can find your backing tracks, I am wanting to learn some of your solos from your videos. Would also love a solo album from you would listen on repeat. Or even just your yt video jams put into a Spotify album. Thanks
Cheers Chris, excuse me while I play that outro jam again. 😳
I settled on TC Electronic take on the univibe……love it
I recently got a Keeley Monterey, very small, versatile and inspirational.
This is timely, since I just received a spanking new Digitech Ventura Vibe. I spent years looking for a satisfying, yet affordable alternative to the genuine vintage article, and I feel like I've finally found it. For a bonus, it's also a very capable Leslie simulator in either mono or stereo, and the mix control means it's even more versatile. Just an insanely great deal with the 'stomp safe' knob protector and the custom-fit velcro included. I'm sure it's digital, but it certainly doesn't sound like it.
Yeah and I kind of love the old amps Pick-n- pick up all kinds of radio signals sometimes you can even sounds of some cool music to the radio signals coming through your amp while you're playing talk about a backup band!
The NUX VoodooVibe is a great budget Vibe/Chorus pedal, worth checking out.
You mentioned Trey! Many forget how much he used/uses it!
Love the Vibe
Jimi Robin, Doyle and Chris a nice timeline cheers Chris
The Engineer,
who is the “scientific mind”, is a true craftsman in that he deals with projects in entirety, taking into account the availability of materials, and creating new tools
The Bricoleur,
who is the “savage mind”, works with his hands in devious ways, puts pre-existing things together in new ways, and makes do with whatever is at hand
Very nice my friend .you are a top player.👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸
Such great history lessons. Just watched your video commemorating the 50 year anniversary of the death of Jimi Hendrix. Very informative and interesting.
For me the UniVibe effect has a heartbeat symmetry that makes it special. The poor recreations are too symmetrical for that result. Great video!
Lub-dub
Lub-dub
The best right hand in guitar world of today. Period!
Don't forget Harvey Mandel who used an Univibe on John Mayall's album "Back to the roots" and I guess on all of his 70's solo albums 😉
bliss friday.....
What the hell, wow what a guitarist.
they aren't cheap but the Sabbadius Univibes are absolutely incredible, don't think they can be beaten.
my god, you are such an amazing soloist!!!!
I do love to hear Doyle Bramhall II getting some love. Great univibe player. Uses it great effect on the track Life on his third album Welcome.
Wow, you really manhandled that poor Revstar!
Damn son!
As also used by British ice-cream van drivers, throughout the 1960s, while playing either 'Greensleeves' or the 'Harry Lime' theme.
I'm thinking you and JIMI would've had some fun!
Hendrix and Gilmour‘s secret weapon… is definitely talent that comes first.
Nope anybody could use this pedal and have been as famous as them
there is no talent, there is lack of practice and perseverance
Well I always thought it was designed as a primitive Leslie sim. Wrong again! Fascinating story.
I dropped $400 on a Roger Mayer voodoo vibe years ago, trying to get that univibe sound., and that was as close as I could find around 2002. Internet was different then, and I wasn’t too good at using it to learn about elusive boutique pedal makers
I got a used JHS unicorn last year for a little over $100, and it totally hits the spot. For some reason I discovered around the same time as this purchase that I think I like tremolo a little better!
A tremolo or a univibe is always on the board
The Boss MD-200 pedal has a UniVibe mode in the its arsenal under the name "Classic Vibe" so you could say even Boss has had a go at the classic UniVibe sound.
Trower used the Fulltone MDV Deja Vibe Univibe (different versions). They all utilize photocells for a pretty good authentic sound with foot expression pedal built in the design.
However, Fulltone ended up in the end, and politics aside, Mike made a great vibe pedal.
I have the MDV2 and MDV3. The MDV2 is on my Trower pedalboard. The MDV3 is a free-range pedal used for Gilmour and others. Trower usually ran his vibe very 1st in the chain...and it sounds incredibly good there. These days, you'll have to look for them on the used market. Note: Fulltone also made the CS-MDV mkII same technology different housing. I have that one with separate mini expression pedal control.
I also have the MDV3. In my book, can't beat it.
Ordered a Deja-Vibe from Mike in the early 90's when he was building them in his kitchen. Hand painted and "built for" inscription with my name. A very dreamy sound that makes my horrific playing sound like I'm some kind of wizard floating down from my magical castle and putting the town peasantry into a rapturous trance.
And the original Revstar steals the show..😍
Chewy goodness
Your playing was “out of this world” today, I think more so than usual-the hardest guitar player to imitate for technique and style, even if you slow-mo the whole riff. Fingers are blurred 🤟😅
You are a Sonic Genius
