    Everything you need to know about going from dark hair, to light hair.
    This is how you take virgin hair from a level 4, to a perfect level 10, and then tone it to a smoky ash blonde, in just over 4.5 hours.
    For this video we used a model with virgin hair.
    (virgin hair means that there is no professional or boxed hair colour anywhere from roots to ends.)
    Process times for hair varies depending on the following
    -virgin hair
    -texture of hair
    -thickness or length
    -previously coloured hair (colour correction)
    A process like this isn't always possible. Your colourist will always let you know the truth behind going lighter in one day. Not only is it an expensive, time consuming process that can have you at the salon for 5+ hours, but it could potentially damage your hair.
    We used Olaplex on her model to preserve the integrity of her hair. This is a step that is CRUCIAL for any dramatic change.
    www.olaplex.com Don't forget to ask your colourist about using Olaplex! It isn't just for blondes!

    Gorgeous!!!!! This is proof that if your know what you're doing it CAN be done. So sick of hearing stylists who say it can't and yet I see girls with it so, am I seeing optical illusions??? Absolutely not and here it is. You are a fantastic stylist, thank you for the video and God bless.

      But it's easy on virgin hair to do if you take the right steps. Most hairdressers are told oh no color no old highlights... some times you can tell other times you cant. To if the hair has been colored and bleached then colored over to si back to there natural color of coarse it's going to be harder longer in steps so you dont fry the hair. I know I could do it on colored hair and be ash blonde but in about two weeks when all the toner color washes out it's going to look like a troll dolls hair. Then the only thing you can do is to apply more toner or color but most woman dont believe you cause they thinks already to dry damaged enough going to leave it alone which is the biggest mistake cause once you color your hair the only way to keep it looking healthy and shiny is by continuing to apply toner or semi permanent color on the colored parts untill its cut off. No none Cosmetologist can seem to understand that... they would rather walk around with that brassy color from where the developer decolorized there hair, all the color has been washed down the drain by shampooing it out...

    The thing with extreme light hair colors like platinum blonde and white-ish ice blonde is it almost makes the person wth the color appear older, just because it resembles grey hair which is very apparent in elder people.

    • @janeadelaidelennox7193
      @janeadelaidelennox7193 Před 7 lety +1

      It depends, honestly. Not everybody can wear pale blondes and of those that can, not all of them can do platinum. If you have a very warm skin tone, cool blondes will make you look sallow and age you. There's really nothing you can do about that. Similarly, brassy or warm hair tones will make people like me look the same. Because I have a cool skin tone. If you have Olive skin, you just can't pull this off. You look like crap.
      That being said, there IS a blonde for every skin tone. But you can't walk into a salon and expect to get a hair color that washes you out to look good on you.

    • @janeadelaidelennox7193
      @janeadelaidelennox7193 Před 7 lety +2

      So true. So I AM German but my natural hair is maybe a level 2 or 3. REALLY dark. I have been lifting since November and achieved a butter blonde before realizing that very fair hair doesn't suit me. Whether it was warm (REALLY bad) or ashy/platinum, it just looked weird and made me look tired. So i finally did a final set of babylight foils and treated the unfoiled hair with what I'd refer to as an ashy adult dark blonde (Adults, with the exception of some nordics, do NOT have light blonde hair naturally) and now it looks as natural on me as my actual hair color. My base is about a 7, my highlights about a 9.
      I look like a totally different person. So different in fact that people at work sometimes still don't recognize me.
      My pic is me at my "timberwolf" stage. Very ashy dark blonde. Didn't work well for me.

My hair dresser used color touch on my hair after it was bleached to tone it because she said that the color would not adhere with the permanent option which meant it wouldn't last as well. Can someone please enlighten me? What's the difference between Wella Illumina and Wella color touch? Which one is better? I want to go for a glossy multi-dimensional and color-saturated result. I had my bleached hair colored medium brown afterwards with the color touch again.

      +Rita Csibrik thats why we use Olaplex! It helps reconnect broken disulfide sulfur bonds in the hair, so your hair is more often than not in better shape then before you coloured it! Funny enough, our model came in to have her roots done 5 weeks later, no damage, breakage or issues. We did another round of Olaplex and there wasn't an issue. NOW, if you were to go from dark to light many times a year, yes you would see visible damage. Check it out, you would be surprised how effective this product is. I mean, it's why we charge 30% extra.

    • @ParlourSalonInc
      @ParlourSalonInc  Před 8 lety +2

      She came in 5 weeks after the colour, and she saw an Intermediate stylist, not the director, so the price was a bit less than if she would have seen Samantha. for a root touch up, the price starts at $95, for the bleach and tone.

    • @janeadelaidelennox7193
      @janeadelaidelennox7193 Před 7 lety +4

      "The damage will show up later on"? What are you basing this on? If you care properly for your hair after lightening, it will be at its worst right after lightening.
      Caring properly for your hair means investing in good product and not using any heat on it. However, i'll agree that if you're into blowouts, straighteners or curling irons, you might have a bad time as the weeks wear on.

    I'm not in the hair industry, so will a licensed hair dresser please answer my question. Why is foil used, and, is it aluminum foil such as Reynolds Wrap?
    By the way she looks beautiful as a blonde. Makes me want to go blonde.

      The foil helps to keep the heat in to process the hair.

    I have yellow undertones and freckles. And my natural hair color is brown with natural red auburn highlights. But now I am getting grey hairs at 52 and grey hair is for cool colored skin.
    So is there a grey colour that would suit my yellow undertones?
    Or am I doomed to dying my hair for the rest of my life.

      I wouldn't. Grey hair behaves weirdly when it's dyed. Browns often come out weird brassy reds. This gets worse as the hair ages.
      Actually, one cool thing you could do is go a really fun, funky color. Because aging hair is porous, it takes bright shades really well and holds them like crazy. I realize it sounds edgy but i think it could be fun if you choose the right shade. Which for you would be something warm or a really vibrant blue.

    I cannot afford a salon right now. How can I lift my natural level 6 roots with about 10-20% grey and my hair pulls very red/orange. I have bleached highlights allover and don't want to damage them more or darken them. But need to lift my root colour a bit and cover the grey. I was previously using 20vol + goldwell 10p on my roots between highlights to bump my base but now I've got some grey and it doesn't cover. Please help🙏

      This sounds like a very complicated job to do by yourself. I would look for any salons offering apprentice services or book with a junior, if you're looking to save money. Good luck!

      Now i might be wrong but i believe you CAN'T buy it unless you're a licensed stylist. And what they sell on amazon etc is a knock off and nowhere near as good. Sally's CLAIMS to have an olaplex "mimic" but it's total crap. I used it when i toned once and it was ok.. but nothing like the real thing.
      Just, my good sweet lord, SPEND THE MONEY AND GO TO A DAMN SALON. These people go to school to learn how to take care of your hair. It's not something just anybody can do.

    Hey, I would pay $350 just to get a stylist who can put the lightest ash highlights on my already DARK BLOND hair!!!! But they just can't seem to get past that orangey color they call blond. IDK what is wrong with stylist these days??!!
