I love this channel. I went to your video for Honduras and then I saw you did Nicaragua. Great job. I have seen most of this country and I think you did great from what I saw. Leon and Granada are so different in many ways. Your presentation and video skills are awesome.

🇳🇮😺Thanks Sister for the video on Nicaragua- the largest country of Central America. Yet another disturbing reality of poverty in a Catholic nation of Central America. Most of them are connected by same language - Spanish. A nice legacy Spainish people left behind if nothing else. Its flag looks similar to Honduras but lacks the stars Honduras flag has. Lots of similarity in these nations - their language, the influence of Mayan Culture, sharing the same oceans, natural calamities too..thanks for the video again, Sister.

Truly happy to see foreigners take interest in my country of birth and my heritage. One thing to mention is that there is no “Lake Nicaragua” nor “Lake Managua”. The name of the lakes are Lake Cocibolca and Lake Xolotlan. Those are the actual names and the only names used by the people of Nicaragua.
The Sandinistas are a socialist/terrorist group just like the Shining Path in Peru and the FARC in Colombia except that they were success in taking over the government by force just like the Taliban took over Afghanistan just recently.

I love learning/teaching about all the countries around the world. Thank you so much for mentioning the indigenous names of the lake. Most people outside of central America don't know the original name, most maps in English mentions Lake Nicaragua and Lake Managua.

There's a very strong case that the Nicarao (the largest Nahua tribe in Nicaragua) are descendants of the Toltecs. Mesoamerican scholars point to the Nicarao’s expertise in medicine (just like the Toltecs), the Nahuatl dialect the Nicarao spoke is the exact same the Toltec spoke, and there's religious and political similarities as well. In addition the timeframe of the Nicarao migrations in Nicaragua after the collapse of Tollan lines up almost perfectly, it is a very strong theory.
The sad part is that these discoveries are not well known because everything east and south of Copan, Honduras is rarely talked about in Mesoamerica. I find it sad because I've always found Nicaragua and Costa Rica's part in Mesoamerican history really interesting, they're both remnants of advanced pre-Columbian civilizations in Mexico which makes it all the more fascinating.

"The Sandinistas didn't care about them (people) either" ???
Nah, thats ahistorical. After US-backed Somoza fell, The Sandinistas DEFENDED NICARAGUA from US-backed contra terrorists who committed over 97% of all war crimes during the civil war in the 80s.
"Reagan and CIA helped" - Helped who, the terrorists burning down villages and commit war crimes against women and children? Doesn't that make them bad for funding terrorists?
Besides this, it was an excellent video. Thank you.

Thank you for this! I was really enjoying the video up until then. My father fought as a Sandinista revolutionary and later fled to the states during the height of the Contra War so I feel very personally that it should be known that the Sandinistas were and are looking out for the interests of the vast majority of the population especially peasant farmers who were so exploited under the dictatorship. My father was one of those peasant farmers.
The US funded the deaths of tens of thousands of Nicaraguans and even owe the Nicaraguan people $16 billion in reparations due to a ruling by the ICJ - International Court of Justice for being found guilty in intervening in a sovereign country's affairs due to mining ports and other internationally illegal activity.
To this day they are undermining and attempting to overthrow the democratically elected Sandinista government which made it back to power. Long live the FSLN and bless the Nicaraguan people!
