  • Which did I like better? The original at Pat's? Or Geno's right across the street? In this video I discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both sandwiches.

    Geno’s and Pat’s are both touristy spots. If you want the best cheesesteaks in Philly, I recommend John’s or Angelo’s.

      Never visited. There's a place here in Brooklyn called Federoff's Roast Pork, I think they're affiliated with the John's Philly spot. Angelo's just opened a Cheesesteak food truck in Manhattan. @@matthewread79

    Everyone always compares the two. As a resident, I feel pat's is for tourists and genos is for residents. Both have gone down in quality because their heads have gotten big and they forgot where they came from. My last genos steak was horrible 😫 😢 personally I prefer Max's at broad and Erie instead or Jim's Steaks on 4th and south. Even the fresh works at 21st and reed comes out ahead of those two considering the amount of steak you get for $9.50. Which you can make 2 sandwiches out of

    It's good to support local establishments. I'm a fan of provolone cheese. If you live nearby, these places are convenient, if you have a craving for cheesesteak sandwiches, and the fact that they are open 24 hours is a bonus. I remember buying cherry peppers at an Italian supermarket. They are definitely spicy. 1930. The one establishment is 93 years old, which is how old my dad will be, this year. Thanks for sharing this review. Cheers, Antonio! 👍👍✌️

    I’ve eaten at both. To me the meats have a blandness to it. Personally I like cheesesteak meats to be charred and cooked extra well done. It should still be tender though due to the thinness. I also like a homemade version of cheese whiz or another brand of melted cheese that’s better than cheese whiz. ……..A strange variation that I Ike is no cheese but barbecue sauce instead. In some rare cases, some cheesesteak places can offer that if you specifically requested it.

    • @Antonioonthego
      @Antonioonthego  Před rokem

      I put ketchup and pickles on it off camera. I also sliced the cherry peppers and put it on the sandwiches. I didn't want any on it initially because I wanted to only taste the steak and onions. I would welcome a quality wiz, perhaps made with some cheddar melted in with some sour cream.

    It looks both are in a dead heat. Geno's meat look good, but Pat's bread looked better. This is a hard call. Like how Pat's had the sales tax included in the total price, wish more places would do that. Can't believe that they are open 24/7 amazing. Nothing like hot cherry peppers, cheesesteak and coffee @ 7 a.m. to jumpstart your day. Also, I heard that Philly really has some good Hot Italian Beef sandwiches also. Next time you're in Philly you might want to check it out.

    I figured you'd do at least one more food video of some kind while you were in Philly. Thanks to you, the first thing I think about when I think of that town is Angelo's. I was wondering while I was watching this video how many cheesesteak joints around there use their bread. Those both looked solid. I completely agree about how chopping meat up makes it dry out faster. I think it also makes it cook down more. And there are very few things I like American cheese on, but a Philly cheesesteak is one of them.

    • @Antonioonthego
