You can find cheesesteaks, breakfast sandwiches, Rice dishes, pastellilos, empanadas and more at certain corner stores aka papi stores aka bodegas. My family grew up just one block up on this street on 5th and Jackson and L&M (formally known as CJ’s) had been a staple in this part of South Philly for many many years. After CJ’s was closed down the to an overnight fires few years ago, my good friend and his family decided to take over and continue this tradition of a “hood corner store” and has been popping ever since. Please y’all, I’d suggest you give this place a try for an affordable price and you will not be disappointed!

A lot of our corner store joint's are better than the tourist traps. If you wan't more steak just say "extra meat" or a double cheese steak.

That’s exactly what we do cheesesteak hoagie still under $10. And most times they give us a large cheese fry or onion rings on the house. They stayed open for the whole pandemic the deliver to the elderly neighbors only. We support our local small business. Plus they are nice!
@@shahadahazizah7622 a good corner store develops a good relationship with its customers. You see these ppl everyday. They keep you in business. Their dollar put your children through college & whatnot. Be fair, polite, treat ppl with dignity & respect, even go as far as to help those in need(if you can) and the hood will support/protect your store for generations. Otherwise....

I’m sure that’s true regionally and as you travel across the country. The “corner store” will be none by lots of different names very various reasons.
Back in the day in the 60’s/70’s
“HERE IN PHILLY”...corner stores were often referred to as “Mom and Pop” stores. Respectfully.
I'm from Phila,PA in the 90s we called them corner stores 🤷🏽♂️ idk about no mom and pops but I have herd that term before

Used to go here twice a week on my lunch break the steak was $5 and the fries were $1.50 back around 2012-2015 . Food was always good and never had a problem once. Highly recommend!
Statistics show a directly proportional relationship between the danger of the area and taste of the food. Therefore, the more dangerous the area is, the better it tastes 😂

I sent my daughter to pick up a breakfast sandwich- sausage egg and cheese. I only ate a half of a half. The worse gas pains took over my body. I was in tears. No more for me.

Stay blessed! The Snow is killing us today here on Long Island! We live and die for the local Bodega here. It's urban legend the Roasted Pernil and Rice or chicken over Rice (5 bucks for a small and 7 for a large) grab yourself an off brand red soda or quarter water and you're set

Totally agree! The small corner stores or bodegas are the places to go! Unfortunately, they're few & far between now! When I grew up in Philly, my parents & grandparents had a corner store/deli in several neighborhoods, Kensington, Strawberry Manchion & Kensington from 1920-70.

I grew up in South Jersey across the bridge from Philly, and always went to the city for a cheesesteak! I live near Harrisburg Pa now, about 2 hrs. away, Im gonna HAVE to get down there and check this out!!

Bruh, real life gems can be found in the hood. My Dominican corner store be having the I’ll chicharron and hot dishes in the window. I’ve had a Philly cheesesteak in Philly once over the summer. It was almost $20 per cheesesteak but it was good. 😋

We had a corner store back in the day that had great cheesesteaks called Miss Johnsons we lived in that store almost 24/7. The food was great, Those little stores kept us going.

Them hidden little spots are some of the best, we have a place called Don's Motor Mart, looks like any other little small town spot, but inside they have a lunch counter in the back corner that has, hands down the best fried chicken I've ever had, there is no other places around that can even come close
Or Milans on Wyoming has a good hot sausage with melted cheese fried onions and ketchup

I told people on another video about philly cheesesteaks. You can go to a corner store get a cheesesteak platter, something to drink, a blunt and something to put in that blunt outside the store for a cheap price and is much better then going to pat's or geno's.

I go to Camden (Fairview, Square Food Market) and get a chicken cheesesteak, fries and soda for less than $6. The sandwiches are smaller than typical cheesesteaks but are still good. Call it portion control.

The Bodegas are staples in communities up north... I can still get a huge bacon egg and cheese on a roll for 3 dollars that and a coffee in the am for 4 dollars before work u cant beat it... and everything is freshly made...
This place is bangin no cap went there once a few years ago and it was the best chicken cheesteak I ever had

I go to a corner store on Miami beach get a full to go plate of Cuban food for $5.50. It's a steal, very good and filling. I can also get stamps, get a key made and play slot machines in the back lol
In California we have Mexican Taqueria in corner stores or gas stations. $8 to$10 for a breakfast burrito with hot sauce. Pretty good

You should check out Tanos Deli in Fox Chase. Family run since 1991! Awesome sandwiches that are made with love! Owner Tano is there 7 days a week and seems to never miss a day.
