Poor Gizmo. What a horrible thing to happen. I hope Gizmo goes on to lead a long, happy life with Irene. I cannot imagine the terror that lady felt when her little dog was being attacked. It doesn't say if the attacking dog was with an owner or if it was running wild on it's own. If it was with an owner, I hope the owner is prosecuted for allowing a dog to get dangerously out of control and is made to pay for Gizmo's treatment.
Poor little Gizmo 😢. So lucky to survive such a horrific injury. Your amazing skills and expertise ensured that, although now with only one ear he’s happy and healthy again and can carry on enjoying his life with Irene 👏🏻🐶❤
They are tough little dogs. Ours had 6 thoracic disc disintegrate and she never let anyone know she had pain. She was still running, refused to use her stairs to get onto the couch and was playing with the cat. We didn't know until we xrayed her for another issue she had anything wrong with her back. The Vet couldn't understand how she could walk.
Disc degeneration. I hate auto correct.
Thank goodness Gizmo can be saved and I love that his human parent does not care what he looks like because she just loves him.
As long as he's okay mentally. That was so sweet, it brought tears to my eyes. Good job Dr. Scott and his wonderful team.

Gizmo is a lucky dog to have survived such a brutal attack! How traumatizing for both him and his owner, Irene. Thank you, Dr. Scott, for taking such good care of him. I am sorry that he had to lose his ear, even if it was for the best.
Also, I hope that the owner of the dog that attacked Gizmo was held responsible! They should at least have to pay for the vet bills.
I had a 4 pound Yorkie attacked by a pit bull. She survived but only because the dog didn’t have a chance to shake her. 3 broken ribs, nerve damage to her right side. Bruises everywhere.

@@Lauren-vd4qe Would have but the fella who owned the dog lied about his name and gave me a wrong phone number. I had to get my little girl to the vet so I was pretty distracted. We didn’t have cell phones to take photos back then and the laws around pit bulls didn’t exist. I knew where the guy worked (a construction company) but his boss hung up on me when I called him to find out who this guy was. I used to drive to construction sites looking for him but no luck.
and thats the TYPE of person who has pit bulls to begin with. best to buy a spike mesh suit for your dog to protect him.@@judygibson760
What a situation to have to go through! For future reference, look for witnesses and call the police. Then report him to animal control. Personally, I would wait around for his car registration number. It's always been the easiest way to trace someone and we've had vehicle recognition devices for over 20 years. The police would have followed up with his boss.
Any true pet owner would be the same, you just want your furbaby happy and healthy and home ❤
Poor little Gizmo 😢. What horrific injuries he sustained by this dreadful dog. Luckily, he wasn't killed. I do hope he isn't traumatised for the rest of his life with ptsd. What a great job, Dr. Scott, as always.

I thought your poor nurse was going to vomit when you took the bandages off. If the owner of the attacker is known, then they should be sued for the costs of veterinary care and for the trauma inflicted upon both Gizmo and Irene. I’m sure they’ve both had horrendous nightmares. Prayers are going up for you and everyone else involved. Bless you for your compassion and care for Gizmo and Irene.
For some of us, our dogs or any pet are more than that. They’re our family. Poor little Gizmo. I can’t imagine the despair of his mommy. So glad he made it
It also changes how the dog will behave from now on. Dex was jumped by two pugs. He became hyper reactive to pugs for the rest of his life. So have patience with this sweetheart

I have two tiny dogs, one is a rescue who used to be scared of everything and her baby daughter. Mum will protect her daughter no matter who she has to fight, My greatest fear is a bigger dog attack, honestly we have a big yard and I don’t take them out often.
He's so cute...Im sure his groomer can create a cut that will complement his new "look"!
He‘s beautiful even with one ear ♥️and you can see he’s loved.
Gizmo is so lucky to have such a wonderful vet doing their upmost to give him the best treatment possible 👏🏻👨⚕💓 Taking his ear off was a tough decision but made with Gizmos best interests at heart and he’s now happy and enjoying his life and 🤞🏻 not suffering from any long term trauma as a result of the horrendous injury 🐶👨⚕❤
Watching this reminds me of the day my Patterdale was playing with her friend when their game turned into ww3. My girl ended up needing emergency surgery on her neck. She had to have 250 stitches her throat and chest! The other dog was also damaged, but being a newfoundland, her damage was much less. After she got back to herself i noticed my girl was afraid of her old friend & other large dogs. It didn't surprise me.
I was so thankful for all the promt action by my vets & their team. Without them I wouldn't have my girl today ❤ thank you for all that you do ❤❤❤❤❤

why was such a vicious dog able to do that? Did the owner have him off the leash? Hopefully the owner was able to place a formal complaint as such a dog can also do that to a child or an adult!
Such a congenial little thing. It seems that the best, sweetest little ones suffer the most. Like little Honey, the one with liver cancer.

Oh goodness I cried all the way through this one. Soo traumatic for Irene & Gizmo. Incredibly lovely to see that gorgeous little trooper living his best life on holiday in Devon at the end. How terrifying that there's a dog out there who inflicted this attack.

Yorkie are a tough little breed. Sweet natured and tenacious. Dr. Miller is a pretty amazing Vet. Could be an angel for animals.
A very close girlfriend of mine had a Maltese puppy who had glaucoma which eventually led to having both eyes removed. The little girl then lived on a happy dog still with her owner living her best life. I’m happy Gizmo is alive and there for his lovely owner.❤❤❤❤
i have not been able to watch this video for three days. forty years ago, my little dog was attacked by another dog. i witnessed the same shaken like a rag doll. many years and five dogs later, it still feels as if it was just yesterday. my dog was very lucky not to have this level of injury. i cried through the entire video. i am very happy that Gizmo and his companion are well and happy❤️

Oh poor little guy, what an awful trauma to go through. I’d be very surprised if both Gizmo and Irene didn’t have ptsd from this horrendous attack. I wonder if the other dogs owner is paying for Gizmos treatment. I really hope so.

So glad Gizmo survived! Years ago someone had a wolf hybrid tied up in the front yard in our neighborhood. Some Sunday on the way to church I saw it grab a little white pup and shake it, I am sure it killed it. I screamed at the wolf to no avail. I called animal control and they said they could do nothing about it. Disgusting.
He is such a sweet pup, I understand Irene’s attachment, my dogs were my solace when my husband passed away this last December.

I wonder how the attack occurred. Were they walking and a larger, unleashed dog attacked? Does Gizmo have antibiotics and painkillers for home? Amazing care from Dr. Scott.

I hope Gizmo recovers well. No one would blame him for not trusting other dogs after such a horrendus experience.
It would have been good to be able to see this surgery as the injury sounds like a unique challenge. Luckily I know of another vet channel on CZcams showing uncensored surgeries.

A spunky Yorkie across the street from my CA house was attacked in this way by a coyote, grabbed his head entire. The little guy fought free, but ever after had a necklace of scars, and a rather deeper voice.
Poor little guy. Just keep him comfortable while he heals. He is in great hands. Watch my dogs like a hawk, and no off leash or dog parks for me. A fifty foot lead in an open field at home for us.

Our Lab/Shepherd had an ear ripped in half by another large dog when I was a kid. She didn’t lose the ear, but it was much smaller than the other after surgery. I can’t imagine what would have happened if she was small 😢

We lost our fur baby after a dog attack. 2 days after the attack she was bleeding internally and as much as I begged God to help her, she passed away.
