  • Join us on a fun-filled day as we teach the kids Bahasa Malaysia and Hokkien through our daily activities in Penang! From visiting bustling markets to enjoying delicious local food, it was an adventure packed with learning and laughter.
Our day began at the Mount Erskine wet market, where we searched for a tasty breakfast and practiced our language skills. Next, we drove up to Teluk Bahang to collect some amazing durians we had ordered from the farm. The journey was not just about the durians but also an opportunity to immerse the kids in Bahasa Malaysia and Hokkien.
After our durian adventure, we headed back to the Tanjung Bungah wet market, where Naomi put her language skills to the test while buying groceries. It was a funny yet educational experience, and she definitely learned a thing or two!
For lunch, we stopped by Long Sheng Kopitiam, known for its delicious char koay teow and roast duck rice. Once again, Naomi practiced her dialect skills while ordering, making for a fun and interactive meal.
In the evening, the whole family visited the pasar malam, where the kids enjoyed a variety of street foods like putu mayong, lok lok, boba tea, char koay kak, and more. The catch? They had to order everything themselves! It was a great way for them to practice and gain confidence in using the languages.
After a day full of learning and exploring, I treated myself to a durian feast and demonstrated the use of a durian opening tool I got from Lazada. It was the perfect end to a rewarding day.
