Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”.
The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way. I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.
Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and CZcams sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 CZcams subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

Very interesting, I have kidney disease but I don’t have diabetes. I do have rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis and also a first cousin whose had a kidney transplant for end stage kidney disease which saved her life… and I’ve actually never had high blood pressure until after I was diagnosed with kidney disease… 🤔, lol, now I’m even more curious about how I got kidney disease… not honestly sure if I’ll ever find out 😩😝🤣
I know OTC meds played a big part in me getting CKD
Same, here. I have no other issues. Probably mine was caused by OTC meds.
No
Kidney Disease is tricky. 1 in 7 adults in the US are said to have CKD and sometimes the cause isn't as obvious, as every patient is different. I hope your journey to slow the progression is going great Sally.
Well, personally, we're staving off serious illness by drinking many different juices without any additional sugars. We ingested a poison, in our drinking water... but that's all we know.
My knee surgeon told me to take Bayer Back and Body. I never took more than the prescribed dose and I only took it 4-5 days per week. Then when I had Kidney Failure the ER Doctors told me to stop taking Bayer Back and Body. I don't have diabetes and I don't have blood pressure.
Super informative. I have no idea what caused my kidney disease.
Thank you Ad, and yes it can be a myriad of reasons, but kidney disease affects over 37 million adults in the US.

Hi Doc. I currently leak 2.1gr of proteins in my 24 hour urine. And some RBC too. My doctor assumed it was glomerulonephritis and gave me immunosuppressant pills. But some other doctor says i have to take biopsy test. What do you think i should do?
Hey what’s your update? And hope you’re well. Thanks
I know where I got kidney failure. J&J COVID-19 vaccine last year. May 28 got shot. June 18 admitted to hospital. Stuck in the hospital for over a month. It didn't sneak up on me, it was very sudden.
My griping aside, thank you for actual information without a personal spin. 👍
Im sorry to hear this Anaconda. Hopefully you are doing better now.
You have absolutely no evidence of or reason to blame that on the vaccine. It is so annoying how so many people are blaming everything and anything they become AWARE of just after covid vaccination on the vaccine. It's absurd.
