    Thank you, Doc. I am a CKD 3A patient due to NSAIDS - because of migraines! I exercise and I love hiking. One day, I climbed two mountains. After that, I went to have my blood work done. I have it every 3 months. To my surprise, my creatinine went up and my eGFR down. I believe I overdid my exercise. I took it easy and 3 months ago my creatinine got better. It is winter now and I don't go hiking but I exercise at least 30 minutes every day while in bed. Next week I will have my checkup again. I am praying my numbers will be better. I also took medicine for dizziness and iron supplements for two months because I had a low blood count and experienced dizziness. I am excited and at the same time nervous to find out my new readings. I am always encouraged by your videos.

    I'm stage 3, but so worried about what I eat. Should I be on a kidney diet. I have never seen a Renal Dietician. I was told I don't need one, but so worried what I eat. They say eat fruit, but bananas apparently are a no no, avocado high in potassium. I am completely baffled. Thank you doc.

    • @thecookingdoc
      @thecookingdoc  Před 11 měsíci +1

      You should definitely seek out a dietician so they can work with you directly on your particular needs. That is exactly why I wanted to write my book- to help those people with kidney disease navigate dietary needs. I have a lot of information in there about this very topic.

    • @adsaad
      @adsaad Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi, my nephrologist never prescribes me any meds for CKD3. He only tells me to eat a balanced diet. If your potassium level is normal, don't be afraid to eat some bananas and avocados but in moderation of course. However, I don't eat bananas. I choose other fruits such as apples, grapes, and berries. I am also worried about my diet. I want to see a dietitian but again my doctor didn't recommend me one. I choose my food and cook at home most of the time. I eat salmon, chicken and eggs in moderation. I always have vegetables and eat beans for my protein. I will have my bloodwork done next week. If my numbers are bad, I will insist on talking to a renal dietitian. Good luck to both of us.

    Thank you, this was helpful. I have a question about water intake. I don’t have kidney disease but I’ve had kidney stones and was encouraged to drink as much as 3 L of water a day! Is it important to drink more water with kidney stones versus kidney disease? Curious if you have an opinion on that?

    Hi, helpful info!
    I donated a kidney to my sister 9 years ago at the Mayo in Rochester.
    I found out last year through DNA that my Father who had Allports Syndrome passed in on. He had 10 brothers and I think 6 of them all passed from kidney disease.
    My Gfr is 46 and my creatinine 1.29 any thoughts on those numbers should you see this! Thank you so much!

    • @adsaad
      @adsaad Před 7 měsíci

      I am a CKD stage 3 patient. My latest GFR is 59.6 and my creatinine is 78 but before this, my GFR was 57.5, crea 81. And even before this, my GFR was 56.7, crea 82 and before this, my GFR was 68.5, crea 69. This was my best coz I was on the way to stage 2, but all the numbers changed again. It is frustrating. Have a check again because we need a few tests within three months to finally be diagnosed as a CKD patient. I will have my bloodwork done next week. I am hoping my numbers get better.

Do you have any info on correcting insulin resistance ? Thanks for all you do ! Navigating ckd is quite the challenge when other health issues are involved.

    • @marshcreek4355
      @marshcreek4355 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Was that 1.79 a one off thing or is it part of a rising trend based on previous blood work? If it's a one off reading then you should be checking your diet, medication or supplements. However, if it's a rising trend your PCP should definitely be giving you a consult to a nephrologist.

    I have question Blake if you thought you like to follow up with this appreciate very much if you can ! I had foamy urine ! I got a urine & blood test ! Results high levels of uric acid & high levels of protein ! Okay so time for the 24 hr test much later on actually let’s say a couple of months ! Okay start to finish on 24 hr done correctly and handed in and blood work again along side of the 24 Hr okay completed results are normal protein levels normal uric acid levels but traces of blood in my urine okay so that makes ya think now as time has gone on since 24 test even with normal protein levels in my urine I still have foamy urine ! I might add ( Always ) What would be my suggested next step for me to figure why in fact I had high protein levels small sample test then 24 hr test and results normal ( protein ) I know I should be and I am concerned what should be the next step medically to be sure of my foamy consistent urine obviously there’s a answer to the question hoping you can answer it I have no other real kidney symptoms but yes I know the kidneys can be silent and patient isn’t aware of progression but any of my research listening to proteinia in urine a big concern but I’ve done as you say get tested ! So now what to do ! Sincerely Mark ! Hoping to hear back !!!
