It actually IS. It's confirmed his grandfather was in WW2 on the "wrong side". Plus, when you look at the shoulders, there are holes there where part of the uniform was removed.

What always puzzled me about Dwight quitting is that he took a job at Staples 'to make money for the time being'. Doesn't he own and run a massive beet farm? Plus he's been a succesful salesman for many years, surely his financial situation doesn't force him to take an entry level job while job hunting, right?
The clip is from season 3 or 4, right? That's around the 2008 economic crisis so either it's related to that or it's just a plot hole
