I actually bought this camera and had it for about 2 year and a half and I haven’t had any problems with it at all the amazing thing about this camera is at night time it look like its day time just a little late coming from my front porch you can see people faces and everything real clear in color.

If you do the Line Crossing to be part of the full left and right (the pan you had earlier) so you can see anyone walking up to your door? Also, what is the range for this cam? Could you hold a sign at different distances so we can see the clarity and resolution from 30 feet, 50 feet, 100 feet, so on, and what about seeing license plates at night without the infrared just reflecting the plate. Thanks. I'm new to all this and your site is really exciting to watch.

I love this camera but I am still desperate to find a way to make the Smart Tracking feature engage more quickly. It always takes nearly 10 seconds for tracking to begin
after motion has been detected and recording has begun. During that 10 seconds of waiting for the camera to adjust its pan and/or zoom I have usually missed the opportunity to capture what I needed. This happens even with perfect lighting. I am faced with having to find a different camera or continue to hope for a firmware update, which is not likely to happen.

not exactly true, it can smart track after the camera moves to the patrol position after 2 seconds in that position, e.g. camera moves between two patrol position, and as long as you have the time that the camera has stopped at said position is longer than 2 seconds it will be in smart tracking mode, if it detects movement it will start tracking that object, once it losers that object and stops tracking it will then go back to the last patrol position and then start back into patrol mode.

You REALLY should look at a camera designed for reading license plates. Often called LPR, or License Plate Recognition, these cameras are designed from the ground up for the purpose of reading plates. The hardware and software will provide far superior results for this and can even catalog all of the plates it recognizes. You wouldn't take a trip to outer space on a bicycle, and shouldn't try to use a camera for something it isn't designed to do.

Hi Dan, They are beginning to roll out firmwares that you can view in all browsers. Not sure if there is one available for this one yet or not. @@NellysSecurity: Thank you so much for your friendly and speedy reply. You are correct about the software. In fact this prompted me to look for the most up to date Hikvision software for my Mac and I can now program my other Hikvision camera WHILE actually seeing what the camera sees, which it would not do in the past. You may have seen my other comment (below) asking about how noisy the servos may or may not be on this camera. This is actually a great concern for many users so it would be good to have a little clip as I described below so that we will know how it sounds. In my case I am a builder of high-end custom homes and will often include a system with these kinds of cameras for added value. The problem is that I cannot mount a noisy camera to the side of an expensive home if it may keep prospective buyers up at night. Any info you may have in this regard would be greatly appreciated. That said; your video is great! You did a very good job and it provides a lot of detail. BUT, we do all want to see some night time IR shots to complete the picture.

Some of these PTZ cams are very noisy, like some Dahuas for example. This is why I'm still shopping. The servos on cheap cameras are like endless 3CPO chatter which will keep you up at night if the camera is mounted to your home. It would be great if you could add a little video clip showing the camera going through its movements WITH audio from 3 or 4 feet away so that we can hear how loud or quiet it is. You might make a sale to me.

I’m having a slight issue with auto tracking. When the camera detects an object (human/vehicle) it will auto track the object until it comes to a standstill and after about 5 seconds the camera will then revert back to the default/pre-set position. When a vehicle enters the road, it will track until the vehicle parks, the camera then reverts back to the pre-set position before the driver has exited the vehicle.
