- HJC i 70 Helmet Review
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/h...
The HJC i 70 is a sport touring bargain, but don’t let the price fool you. This lid does everything you need it to without breaking a sweat. Or the bank. An advanced polycarbonate composite shell is completed by a one-touch open/close face shield and central locking system. Inside, a variety of vents move air across the rider’s head to maintain a comfortable temperature. Additional features include a SuperCool moisture-wicking interior, glasses grooves for sunnies or prescriptions, a HJ-31 Pinlock-prepared face shield (insert lens sold separately), and a one-touch integrated SunShield. The HJC i 70 is DOT approved - Auta a dopravní prostředky
The only man on CZcams who can do a 24 minute review in 7 minutes! 😜
LOL, funny .....but true. :)
The only man who can say heythisisantho yofrevzillatv in 1 second.
got one of these helmets myself in grey. awesome lid, much lighter than my old HJC flip front, has this weird whistle at certain angles but you get used to it, great sunvisor and so light and comfy
To anyone concerned about comm compatibility with the side actuated internal sunvisor slider...another pro reviewer showed a clamp mount install and there was no interference at all. Considering one of these for myself. Luckily, I don't live far from Revzilla and will be making the trip to try this helmet and a few others on when the time comes.
Always entertaining, good to see you reviewing again
I have this helmet in teal and I absolutely love it. I'm a size Medium, and it fits like it was made for me. I've had for about 4 months, and have no issues. My visor doesn't fog at all if all of my vents are open, but my fiance's does. The sun visor is amazing and is still crystal clear vision. The chin strap does feel like it could be moved forward an inch or so, because it does feel a little choaking, but it's a breeze to remove with gloves. We've ridden in high winds at 36-40 deg, and 80 deg weather, both feel fine in this helmet.
Hey man did it come with chin curtain?
@@albertaragon1132 trying to figure this out as well!
@@kevinblair3939 i just bought the helmet 2 days ago. It comes with a chin curtain and a free pin lock. Its a beautiful helmet. Minimal wind noise and comfortable liner.
The wind sound is it ok? Or make much noise?
How much this helmet weight ? (Grams)
This was informative, concise and enjoyable. 💯
I didn't notice that there was a i10 version as well. Is the only real difference between the i10 and the i70 the sun visor and safety ratings?
Just bought this helmet and so far so good. Bought it in a size medium and it fits perfect on my rounded head. It’s a lot smaller than my HJC f-17 in size, it is also lighter which should help on the freeway. I love how the bottom back of the helmet is higher up then other brands. You can look straight up without the back of the helmet touching the back/shoulders. Love it!!
Hey man did it come with a chin curtain?
It did not
I have been riding in this helmet for over a year. No issues whatsoever with noise or the use of an intercom (I am using a Cardo clip-on). The only downside is that it's kind of hard to open and close the upper air vents while wearing gloves.
Hi. My problem with i 70 is how to put my cardo bold properly. I stick the cardo but suddenly it looses its stick in helmet.. can you recommend where will i place the cardo? Or possible to use the clip instead
How is the aerodynamics on this helmet for head checks on motorway speeds?
HJC i70 or LS2 Assault? Can you recommend the best helmet under $200
Need a little help. I need a new helmet this riding season and I'm split between the F70, i70 & i10(currently I wear a CL17). I tend to ride straight up with a little tuck from time to time. Wich would you recommend?
I wish you would show a couple of clamp on bluetooths and how they either would or would not attach with this helmet's shade mechanism. I am thinking that is very important to a lot of riders.
I have a XL i70 and my cheak pads are tucked into the rim of my helmet and won't remove all the way... is this normal? Or am I missing something?
How narrow is this helmet? With an 59,5-59,8cm head should I get the L or the XL? (I've used L sized IS17 after 2 years it was a little bit loose.(barely moved a few))
how much does this helmet weight ? (Grams) small size and medium size especially
Which one would you recomend between this and the Shark D-Skwal(the one without the LEDs) for a daily commuter on a scooter?
Both offer very similar features and construction, so you could honestly go either way. If you have an opportunity to try on both, then I'd go with the one that fits better. -DrewZilla
Would it 10u pad from the IS-17 work in this helmet.
Thank for the Great review! My concern with this Helmet and the RPHA 70 is that side sunscreen switch. Will my Cardo slim/bold still attach? Also will all those vents make riding miserable in the cold, like around the 40’s cold. Thanks !
The RPHA 70 is compatible with the PackTalk Slim, and since the main vents can all close, the helmet works just fine in the cold. -DrewZilla
RevZilla Amazing! Now to decide which helmet has the best graphics. Thanks for the reply
You're welcome!
Hey dude I have RPHA 70 and I have a Sena S20 Evo attached just behind the switch.
It fits just fine, it's awesome
MapOfCydonia Thank you !
I currently have a HJC CL-17 which fits very well when it comes to head shape which for me, I think it would be more of a round shape. Would this have a similar fit as the CL-17?
The CL-17 is indeed a round oval, whereas the i 70 is more intermediate oval. If you want a rounder full-face helmet with an internal sun visor, you might consider the AGV K3 SV. It's a bit closer in fit to the CL-17. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/AGV_K3SV_rounder_oval
Good review!
How is this for a more oval sized head? How would you compare it to the AGV K3 SV (since that also has an internal sun visor)?
This is a great option for an oval head, and it's pretty accommodating in its fit. The AGV K3 SV is just slightly rounder in fit, but a lot of people can fit both comfortably. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/HJC_i70
What speaker fits best in this helmet? Iv had it for about 2 months and love it but I'm not a fan of headphones
Sena and Cardo speakers fit just fine. They're the two most popular Bluetooth communicator brands. -DrewZilla
Considering the hjc rpha 70 st. For half the price, is this a better option over the 70st? I have the rf-1200, hjc just seems to fit my head better. I also have the cardo pack bold, would the side visor switch be a problem? Thanks,
If price is your main concern, then this is the better value. However, if you like the fit and finish of Shoei, the RPHA 70ST is definitely closer to the Shoei in that regard. The shell construction and interior liners are nicer than the i 70. As for the Cardo, it will easily fit both helmets. -DrewZilla

so you're saying in this video that the is-17 is intermediate to neutral oval where as you called c70 intermediate to long oval. I'm confused aren't they exact same shell?
The C70 is a bit different than this i70, though to answer your question, the i70 has a different shell than the IS-17, and the interior shape is different as well. When we talk about helmet shape, we mean the internal shape around the crown of the head. For the C70, the interior is actually a bit longer inside. Apologies for any confusion! -DrewZilla
this helmet is on are on the sharp testing list that's a plus
What are the extras that the rpha 70 has that warrants the extra money ? In terms of sharp rating, the HJC FG-17 that the I70 replaces, has a 5 star rating. Maybe the I70 will have 5 stars too ? My main concern is that I actually like the shape of the I70 more than the rpha 70 but I keep thinking, what's missing with the lower price ?
The i70 has a polycarbonate shell, while the RPHA 70 uses a carbon fiber/carbon-glass composite shell. That gives the RPHA 70 a lighter weight and more compact size. The padding is also a bit nicer. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla Tnx for the answer :)
You're welcome!
How about the fit? Im 57cm.
I have this old helmet sol and i was size M on it. But now it has more roomy.. Not a snug fit. Maybe because of the foam.. thanks
57cm should be size medium for the i70. -DrewZilla
How about the weight of this ? I try the shoei ryd size M fits perfect and around 1.200kg or 1300..
I’m confused...another product review I saw showed the I70 as having a ratchet clasp chin strap, with chin wind screen & with pinlock moisture shield...(Champion Helmets)
So what gives🤔???
If we buy the USA version we get a lesser product with poorer features💩
Nope. Old school D rings on mine.
Hmm, I'm from Vietnam and they sell it here with ratchet strap and an anti-fog insert. I guess it's just a preference thing because the environment in my country is very humid.
How is this helmet for wearing eyeglasses? I can't put my glasses on with the is17.
The i70 has grooves for glasses, so it's actually pretty good for wearing eyeglasses. -DrewZilla

has anyone had any luck mounting a gopro?
Revzilla, which do you prefer? Agv k3 sv or Hjc i70? I'm planning to buy my first helmet but i'm so confused about these two. Please help me, i need your opinion since you're an expert of motorcycle gears things. Waiting for your reply. 😊
Not from Revzilla, but I would personally go with the HJC i70 because it's better ventilating system and cheaper price (for my area at least). However, if your priority is about the look of a helmet, you should go with the AGV instead. Hope it helps 😀
@@huynhxuanviet9818 Thanks bro! 😊 I need the ventilation and the overall performance of the helmet, so i'll just go for hjc i70. 😊
@@hanspenaranda9943 I have no doubt that you've made a great choice 👍
Can any one compare about their weight difference?
Hey guys. I know little about the quality of of pinlocks. I have the is70 Loktar, but haven't installed the pinlock that came with it. Are pinlocks scratch proof?
No, Pinlocks are definitely NOT scratch-proof. To be effective at reducing fogging, the Pinlock insert lens is actually a very soft, flexible, porous plastic, so it is very delicate. -DrewZilla
Awesome Drew Thanks. It's some sort of a "wear and tear" accessory not meant to last e? Coz I usually clean my helmet, gears and bike after a ride
Wait... at 1:50 it seems as if you're saying that they're both ECE rated, but HJC's website says nothing about ECE rating on the new I70. Am I missing something? Did HJC forget to put that on their site?? Just want to clarify before ordering.
Initially when we shot the video, we expected it to be both DOT and ECE rated. However, the production version for the US market is only labeled as DOT. The version sold in the EU is ECE-rated, of course, but since the US version is only labeled for DOT, we cannot say for sure whether the US version would pass the ECE testing. -DrewZilla

@@RevZilla thanks for the response guys! Went ahead and just ordered an RPHA 11. 😎
You're welcome!
Hello revzilla! 🖤
My head measurement is 58cm/22.5". According to the size chart it shows Medium. Should I order the medium or large? It seems buyers of other brands usually mention to get a size larger. Thank you.
If its very snug?? If i order the medium size?
This helmet does tend to run a bit snug, so with your measurement I would definitely suggest the Large.

Thankyouu so much revzilla 🖤🖤🖤
@@gabbellaperucho30 I am a similar size too you, how did Large size up?
Can someone tell me if the sun visor is suppose to lock when you put it into the down position. Just bought this helmet off Amazon for a heck of a deal, but the sun visor isn't locking in the down position. It does "lock" in the up position.
Mine doesn't "lock" in the down position. I can move it up about 3/4" with my finger when it's down, but then it encounters a little more resistance in moving up. Not an issue while riding. I've had mine for over 10,000 miles now. Great helmet.
@@MikeHongisto Thanks for the info. Haven't gotten a chance to take mine out for a spin yet, but I plan on it soon.

Can someone tell me what is the difference between the i70 and the c70?
The i70 has better vents, better aerodynamics, and a larger drop-down sun visor. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/HJC_i70
How well do these drop down sun visors work with people who wear glasses?
The new i71 or RPHA 71 will be better. HJC added a adjuster to the drop down visors that can kick it out farther by about 5mm or so, which can really make a great different with glasses.
Great review,
However the i70 is not a hard wearing lid, after 6 months use the visor locking tab broke and the sun visor slide unattached from the side. Warrenty did not cover all the repairs so was an additional charge for parts.
My advice to anyone considering a i70 is to not buy! For a little extra money there are plenty more better built options.
Hi, Is the lens of i70 fits with the c70??? Thanks...
Nope, i70 is much wider
i17 was very loud, especially wind noise. Is i70 better?
Average noise level on the street/highway. We still highly recommend wearing ear plugs while riding to eliminate wind noise as it is the easiest $4 fix you can make on any helmet you are shopping for. Why isn't it snell approved?
@revzilla do a new hjc i10 review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What happened to Lenny?
Which is better HJC i70 or HJC FG-ST?
The FG-ST is nicer, due to the fiberglass shell instead of the more affordable polycarbonate shell. You might consider the HJC F70, which has a fiberglass shell and is an update to the FG-ST. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/hjc-f70-helmet
I’d love to see Sharp rating added as a filter for helmets on the web site. Any chance of seeing that?
Unfortunately, no, as SHARP only applies to the specific helmets sold in the UK. Often, helmets sold here in the US are actually constructed slightly differently, in order to meet the US DOT regulations, so the SHARP ratings generally don't apply. -DrewZilla
RevZilla, that’s a shame.
I really liked how the XL fit and the visor's tint. However, the drop-down visor touched my nose when deployed. No go.
Well, the cable-actuated lever will only go down so far as you push it. If you really like the lid, just don't push the switch all the way. Most ppl complain the shades don't go down far enough, so you're fortunate in that regard ;-).
Does this helmet hjc i70 good for sportsbike?
Yes, it can be good for sportbikes. -DrewZilla

I have its more expensive big brother - HJC RPHA 70
The HJC i 70 is really similar and for 300 less. I'm really impressed by this helmet!
The Rpha 70 is more of an oval shape, I get pressure points on the temple from a brand new helmet :( . tested one on the show room and it was ok , but new was not .

Hey man did it come with a chin curtain?
@@albertaragon1132 The i70 doesn't, unfortunately. I wish it did.
Hey folks. Is this a more sport oriented position in terms of ergonomics and riding position? I have an IS-17 and I ride a Street Triple so my riding position varies from upright to tucked. With the IS-17 if I tuck I can't see forward very well which I can understand as the IS-17 is more an all arounder helmet. Hoping the i70 is more sport touring so I could see better when tucked. I am also looking at the RPHA 70 ST but thinking the i70 could be a less expensive option. Thanks for any feedback :)
This is still aimed at a more upright position like the IS-17, so it's not so great in a full tuck. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla ok thanks. So a Shoei GT Air. HJC RPHA 70 ST would be more sport oriented. It's not easy choosing a helmet for semi sporting bike like a Street Triple. I ride upright and tucked. I guess Sport Touring helmets are the better options.

I70, agv k1 or scorpion R710?
