The American T14 heavy tank (not to be confused with the T-14 Armata) is one of the best tanks in War Thunder. In the right hands, I would consider it to be better than the Sherman Jumbo. Even after Gaijin raised it to 4.7 where it can fight Tigers and Panthers, it's one of my all-time favorite tanks.

T14 has been so hit or miss for me cause it relies entirely on people not knowing how to pen it. Sometimes I set a new personal record for points in a match, sometimes the first tank I encounter shoots me in the turret.
In my experience both fighting it and fighting in it, it is more about how Warthunder is feeling, sometimes you shoot it flush in the side from 50m and non-pen with a 17 pounder, and sometimes a enemy Sherman scrapes the side of your turret and nukes your turret crew while also somehow getting a kill on one of the dudes in the hull.
@@commandoepsilon4664 Yeah that's been the case for me. I've never really had any issues with killing the T-14 when running into them, aside from when playing 3.7 russia.

Back when the Whirbelwind had 64mm of pen it literally penned my frontal armor up close. The Su-85M has 75mm instead of 45mm

Also capped shells will sometimes make 45 multilateral normalizations to go through plates in this game. Or they do the same to bounce off…
Yeah the SU-85 can't easily be penned, it has more effective armor then a lste sherman and resists a lot of at tier rounds.
@@user-ou2si7ys2j It's 70mm cast homogeneous on both if I remember correctly, so it's thicker on the 85 but thinner than the UFP on the 85M.

Yeah one thing people don’t get about war thunder is it heavily favors hard factors and makes historically awful vehicles incredibly good, because it doesn’t take into consideration all the minor stuff that makes tanks trash.
that conveniently makes the Russian tanks way better than they should be, because it doesn't account random breakdowns on the road, insane fuel usage etc

Would be fun af to have a gamemode that's basically GRB but taking that into account. Depending on your tank, the chance to have some sort of breakdown increases or decreases, and it's completely random. Imagine how many Tiger II players would be screaming at their monitors 😭

@@wokedog1799almost all WW2 tanks had reliability issues. German and Soviet tanks appear especially bad because they both didn't do proper maintenance. Germans because of logistical issues, the Soviets because it was easier just to make another tank.

T14 is underrated but fun especially when you angle properly and bounce multiple 88mm and sometimes a 128mm shell 😂😂 from my experience .. it’s pretty god damn survivable and it’s a good underrated heavy tank. i bring full ammo in my t14 lol
Idk what Im doing wrong but a perfect 45° angle and tigers just go through my ufp like butter, I somehow bounce alot more panthers tho

I wish I got dumb enemies like that in my games. Most of the time enemies will go for the turret, which is only 80mm with a size able area that is completely flat.
The T14 does still stomp when it’s down tiered but damn does it suffer at 5.3 when you fight panthers, tigers, Russian 85s that will lol pen you anywhere while the 75mm on the t14 will struggle. You could always do track and barrel torture but it gets very annoying pretty quickly especially when sometimes barrels refuse to bust.
@@markbautista1631 Keep on the move too if you can. Makes it a lot harder to hit a good shot on the turret or the MG port. But even if you angle perfectly at close range, the 88mm can still go through the hull.

The shermans are some of my favorite tanks to play and the stabilizers are a pretty big reason as to why. Also I should get this thing eventually

The t14 just gets constant mission updates when it kills a tank it goes from “defeat the enemy” to “survive the first wave of aircraft”

T14 truly is a meme when down tiered, I've run into them a few times playing the T-34-76 and had no idea what I was looking at so I backed up and ran away from it when I couldn't penetrate it frontally.

Try to aim for the MG port on the Hull, as far as I know that the only place a Soviet 76 can pin it frontally.
@@entireanarchy2293 Whenever I play this thing without bushes I just get one tapped by Soviets. Either through the MG port or the tiny cheek weakspots on the turret.

I have only one memory of the T14 and that was watching one parry my 152 with his barrel. There has been strife between us ever since.
You gotta revisit the LVT-40 from france. It came into the game at 2.3 and its still pretty good at 3.7 where its currently sitting. Its a better AA than any of the AA's at the br lol

Genuinely one of my favorite tanks in the game (in before it gets moved to fucking 5.0), because it's one of the few heavy tanks which FEELS like a heavy tank. You can actually break through enemy lines, you can soak up fire, you can contribute to the fight even if you're significantly outgunned. It's a brick, but she's a beautiful brick.
I haven't laughed at normal gameplay footage this hard ever before. The T14 is a hilarious tank and the 75 mm M61 is an awesome round.

I've honestly learned, especially with APHE, just aim for the cheeks of the T14 turret and you'll often kill it or wipe the turret crew. I don't struggle against them much anymore, especially since many play too confidently. If players took time to learn the tanks they face, they would do better and tanks like the T14, T-34, M4A5, Jumbo they'd all be lower in BR. But instead people never learn weak spots, never use the tactics that Jumbos use, like barrel shots and track breaks. I see it so often, a Tiger will have a chance to barrel shoot a Jumbo, shoot it in the MG port or at least aim under the gun mantlet which is under rated as you'll go through a lot if you're within 300 meters, but they'll aim for the mantlet, the angled armor and face it like the Jumbo won't barrel break or cupola them to death. It drives me crazy because the Tiger 1H can easily out duel a Jumbo if played correctly but 99% of them just don't know what to do. Even a lot of Panthers I see bouncing off Jumbo turrets and front plates when they could aim for better spots, track or barrel break and flank or anything but stand there, let the Jumbo load APCR and kill their gunner. But no, they'll just fire at the same area repeatedly hoping this time it'll go through.

@@haroldotrotter9148 yea, one of my friends who has almost 1000 hours on warthunder who has finished America tech tree and is now doing Germany taught me how to angle properly and it really does work cause nothing can pen me.

I second the Chi-Ri II, the potential it has for baiting people into peeking you is just insane
(if the 37mm shot doesn't convince them, the autoloaded 75mm 100% works at baiting anyone out as long as you can buy yourself 4 seconds)
I know you mainly play RB, but I think it would make for an entertaining video if you tried playing Ground AB and the differences you would find with how aiming and spotting works in arcade.

Its still good but you have to take the fact that your entire turret face around mantlet is a weakspot together with hull mg - thus you have to angle both hull and turret
Its increase in BR for Arcade is worse, still workable but not that fun. Feels like playing uptiered M4A2

It was a pretty badass moment even though it comes from Disney canon (I grew up with the legends books, comics, games, and mostly prefer that to the new canon; I even have a digital copy of a comic that is about nothing but luke's wedding to Mara Jade as well as all the rogue squadron comics; also a ton of legends novels).

But yeah, this Book and a few others are a few nice things from the Disney Era that aren't just there to patch the holes left by their movies, such as the ones created to give the context we never got for exegol..
