Had the CD. Listened to it waaaaaaay more than I should have. Been a good 20 years *at least* since I least heard this and yet I still know the lyrics and exactly how the will pronounce them.
I've been subconsciously quoting the "it smells like *scream* part for the past 2 decades and a few days ago, I realized this is where I got it from. Boy does this bring back memories
I just got here after watching the episode that featured this for the first time, and I'm so glad I checked out Cartoon Planet, it's been such a good show to watch when I've been stressed from college
Andy Merrill is the adorable dork (adorkable) genius manchild god Peter Pan of my generation. 3 Set course for Cartoon Planet: Second star to the right, along the glidepath of a moonbeam, and straight on till morning.
I escaped grunge in the 90s. It helps to listen to REAL MUSIC. Instead of mindless fads marketed to pharmaceutically depressed hipsters following the herd behavior of the cool sheeple. And I can't think of many songs that WEREN'T better than teen spirit. Want 3 GOOD songs that to me DEFINE the bleak, socially engineered morale broken zeitgeist of the 1990s? •Only happy when it rains from garbage •Creep from radiohead •bullet with butterfly wings from smashing pumpkins Just my 69 cents.
+Phoenix Archangel Uhhh, it was supposed to be in favor of grunge if you didn't notice. It's fuckin cool that everything in the 90's has its all-pervasive influence woven into it in some way or another, it's probably the ultimate evolution of 20th century music and all the aggregate influence that lead up to it. But it's gotten so much ill repute by now that I guess it's just assumed nobody likes it anymore. heh - and the Nirvana riff is cos of the title, not because it was the unofficial 'anthem' or whatever. You want my 3 fabs of the mome? Blew EP - Nirvana (first.best.) Sugar Plow EP - Daddy Hate Box (Coffin Break/TAD sideproject) Five Dollar Bob's Mock Cooter Stew - Mudhoney (if only for Make It Now Again and No Song III) check out the MTV Live & Loud version of Blew as well. hwoah
+Phoenix Archangel I also first saw the video to Vow by Garbage on the Space Ghost Planetarium Tour (torrented after the fact unfortunately) So I think it's even cooler that the guys at Williams Street are really into this
Is that song which talks about how the show got started - the one with the line "But if the money's right then, buddy, show me where to sign!" - stashed around here somewhere? That's one of my faves!
oh man. I remember when was 8 years old, staying up around the 11 pm just to see cartoon planet. or how as we called in Latin America "planeta caricatoon"
I can't believe some guy at Cartoon Network wrote a song that goes this hard just for some glorified proto-shitposting. And that I've randomly gotten this stuck in my head 25 years later.
This show definitely proved that you don't need great animation to make a fantastic show.
Who are you and what have you done with a CZcams commenter
The creators of High spice or whatever that crap excuse for knockoff anime has no excuse.
Like Osamu Tezuka said, Great animation can’t save a poor story, but a great story can save poor animation.
Heather❤
I finally just realized after all these years that the opening bass line is kind of an inverted version of Smells like Teen Spirit.
This song has gotten stuck in my head at the worst of times for the past twenty years.
Uh-oh.
That's exactly what brought me here today.
@.@
I think you mean the best of times. Or the blurst of times
It certainly made them the best of times.
@@phoenixarchangel5082 me too
It's destroy my childhood 😂🤣😏
This has always been my favorite song from the Cartoon Planet Band.
Great writing can save bad animation, but great animation can't save bad writing.
birdgirl
Cartoon Planet really should be on DVD.

Had the CD. Listened to it waaaaaaay more than I should have. Been a good 20 years *at least* since I least heard this and yet I still know the lyrics and exactly how the will pronounce them.

Sing it, Fuzzy.
Nothing could escape grunge in the 90's. NOTHING
Although this is easily superior to Teen Spirit

Smells like Cartoon Planet > Smells like teen spirit
90s cartoon network just hit different.
When i first got my Web Tv in 1999, this was the VERY first thing i listened to. I was still heavily into SG at that point, love it.
