- Getting some sheep to the auction for the first end of Ramadan which sees prices fly which is amazing we got a great do at Kirkby with ours and they weren’t even that nice, I lamb the worst little piggy sheep and probably spend the longest I’ve ever spent to lamb a successful animal with a good outcome with as little stress as possible, shed walkabout the dairy is coming closer every day beginning of may we are going for!! Concrete goes down in the bulk tank room and the store room it’s all go go go, eternit cladding is nearly finished and it looks AMAZING chuffed to bits with it! Feed star system explained and more sheep and a perfect sunset 😍😍
in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
we are in a transitional period at present and will finally be milking cows and making the final switch later this year, after years of planning and implementing infrastructure we will be milking 120 Jersey cows on two Lely robots. This will be a huge change and a steep learning curve
I will be taking you all along for the ride so hit that subscribe button and see you every other day for farming vlogs.
I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

my black cat passed away yesterday he was only 4 years old, bless him.
So sorry to hear that. You really can get attached to them. 😿
Less laughing at the bald people/sheep please Charlotte or I’ll be one of those offended people 😂 great video as always. When the new shed is finished I want to see Olly Tom Pem and Joe with yourself and Roy cutting a ribbon 😃
Love it Charlotte ❤ I would say black steel, but what colour are the windows & doors and a big solar powered LED sign 👌 the folding doors are perfect 👌 and spider cat is checking out her new pad 😂 I laughed when you said hot water for the cows 😂 will you be out checking it's temp 😂😂 sorry had to say that because at that point I nearly spit my coffee out 😂😂 brilliant video Charlotte 💯👌👍
Cubicals out behind robots will be the best thing in the shed! Training heifers ect
Fantastic sunset images. 👌 The beginnings of next year’s calendar? Very interesting video, thanks.
Like to watch the lambing, gosh that one was a struggle. Well need a follow up on lambie with horns, i thought it had bit you. Call it Lamigator
Charlotte, I take it calving cows will happen in the existing shed where the lambings going on? But, you will almost certainly at some point need a straw pen near the robots for the odd cow, that's sick, slipped, generally needs pampering, off concrete and not in that bank of cubicles believe me. A pen or small yard like that is a life saver at times. Also, make sure you have something in place, like an air line/vacuum line near said pen and a portable milking unit to milk any cows that could end up in there. You may only use it once a yr to milk a cow in a pen, but when you need it, it's a god send to have. 32 yrs in cows and I've been there.
Hi, yes the shed where I’m lambing was built to eventually be the calving shed, I know the gates are overkill in height and weight but we had to utilise the shed for calving sucklers. We’ve had a consultant on farm recently and discussed what you have mentioned about an area for unwell/lame. He’s in agreeance that our existing covered handling area with pens will work well for milking fresh calved cows and any other anomalies 👍x
Nothing cuter than baby lambs!!!
Love the headband reminds me of my grans tea cosy haha
Hi Charlotte, itchy left her mark on the concrete and I bet she was smiling. All your plans are falling into place in the big shed before the cows arrive. The lambing is just about finished and there is some nice coloured lambs. Looking forward to the next episode. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.
Hate Rattling Roller Doors.😊
Leave the steels grey 👍
Keep it grey as its hard to paint gavinised you need a special primer otherwise it will flake off
Na been loving the lambing content
Contrasting steels work as accents. They make the black pop more.
Robot effectiveness all about cow traffic flow
Baby lambs look cuter yhan calfs thats why people like them amd always it pet shows
Leave the posts as they will bashed and scratched and you be forever touching them up , I know you think no one’s going to but it will happen lol , enjoying the build
Eternit FarmTec fibre cement profile sheeting 😊
Please leave the Galvanised without paint. 😊
Another great video! 🎉 I was so close to being the first commenter, but missed it by a few seconds. 😔 I'll have to stalk you more closely next time. 😂
Love all your videos
Awesome cheers 👍🏻
Great video Charlotte
Send some Slip Gel to Tom please 😉
Love your sheep videos ❤
My daughter calls lambs ,lamps because they are bright 😂
Shed is coming on super fast, I'm excited just watching it lol so you must be over the moon? I think you should leave the steels 'naked' as it breaks up the black walls unless your going to rename your farm 'Stealth Dairy' 😂 love your channel and your content, keep it up🎉❤
STELTH DAIRY YESSSSSSSSSSSS
Enjoyed
By fold doors are a pain in the... unless you have extra hinges on the door frame to take the weight.
Sheep content/ cow content . It's you and your farm and family content that I tune in for. And Inky obvs ❤😂
Paint the steels red.
Shed looks brilliant
A very high tech, and complicated facility!
Excellent video Charlotte, great content as ever!
Look cool grey .
Looking fabulous Love! I love the black on your dairy barn. I didn't know there was a small black barn there its amazing is that tradition is staying alive. I love seeing your sheep! ❤ I am a sucker for lambs and calves. Can't tell I'm a farm kid! Tell Roy ALL BLACK! Lol. 😂 *runs for cover*
The black on the shed looks 👌🏻
I look forward to the lambing. Love those videos.
Loving your build and the End in black looks great 👍 as for painting the steels maybe wait and see how it looks after windows fitted. Great job well done you and Roy 👏👏
Another good update Charlotte, have loved every minute of the lambing. The new building is looking good.
Black is a great colour. lol the barn is looking so good, Charlotte 😊
❤
it come on well Another good update Charlotte,
The Rolling Stones have the answer Paint it Black
Not castrating sounds like it was a bit of a balls up ;)
Top marks for persistancy Charlotte. Wow that lamb was big, the only trouble with lubricant is it makes everything slippery including the lamb..😂
It's all looking very impressive facility Charlotte, well planned out by you Roy . I particularly like those red stall bars really sets everything off great video incidentally. ❤
Couldn't help myself making the joke: communications duct ... is that you shouting in one end and Roy listening at the other or the other way round? 😂
Funny how I get excited seeing the shed coming together even though I have nothing to do with it. I do know the feeling, I've helped build a few sheds on farms I worked at in the past.
No shed is complete without pawprints in the concrete somewhere!
Thanks Charlotte, helluva sunset :)
I love watching your sheep/lambing (she says defensively/defiantly). I follow a number of sheep farmers as part of my farming content. Liking the black barn.🖤🖤
You're the DA BOMB😂 the best sheep keeper (Herder)
That the trouble with head strong people like yourself. You can't change the way of farming. You have to go with the flow or else you will duck the Job up.
Leave ‘em grey
helping new life into the world never get's old whether it's a cow or a lamb being born
most dairy farmers say the secret to a profitable dairy farm is to keep your costs low!!!!!!! what are you going to use on your cubicles.........sand .......sawdust.......chopped straw.......all those things could be a problem in those slurry channels.......i sometimes worry a bit that your going for a over complicated setup.......keep it simple then there's less to go wrong
I am sick of lambing! Just amputated a bloody enormous lamb from a half mad 2 year old who has decided that she doesn’t want anything to do with her monster lamb, she’s in a pen and he has been filled up with beestings so we’ll see how things are in the morning! Nearly done now another few days will see 90 percent lambed. Shed looks like the dogs bollocks of a job, looking forward to seeing the cows in it! Regards from Ireland.
I agree with Roy that concept slab needs to be moved 😂. Shed looks well in black and once the windows and doors are in you won’t know the place. That last lambing was a bit rough for you especially at that time of the night. It’s nice to see what goes on with the sheep but I can’t wait to see your new cattle Charlotte.
Hello there. The building looks fantastic. It may get a bit hot on warm days.
It is snowing in Northern Illinois right now
The wood cladding on your shed is called Space boarding. Yorkshire boarding is where there are two layers of boards staggered, so you shouldn’t see directly through them.We were told this by a cattle shed ventilation professor😎 He was adamant of the difference.🤣
I bet it was the very same person 😀😅😅😅😅 Stuart?
@@charlotteashleyfarm No this guy was Jamie. He’s got some CZcams videos on ventilation.
Roy is right about the black along with the grey, hate saying it!!!!!
keep grey
You could nickname it Juliets balcony
greetings all , im alive and well,
hi
are the steels galv ? id leave them as is for the contrast.
I agree with Roy, sorry 😂
Thats double bad luck,a black cat,and a ladder!
Can't wait to see the dairy barn all together and working! Be interesting to see how the robots work out for you!
1st 🎉
Charlotte for prime minister ❤
Leave the steel as is, too much black and you'll have no chance of seeing what the cats up to.
No no no leave then silver!!!!
Erase that thought out of your mind, Charlotte.
Personally Grey steels just breaks it up a little
We dont put rings on our tup lambs not even there tails only ring the tials on our ewe lambs, dont ask me why something my dad got in his head. Was that a video of the fox you heard or was that a random video of a fox as an example? Love your videos keep it up
Mr Fox was a wildlife cam that I’ve put at a pond x
Will you have enough height in the bulk tank room to get into the tank to wash it occasionally.
Yes :) not a lot but yes just x x
My farmer husband says your lambs will get out of pens because some of the huddles are upside down ? 😊
I know some of them are 😀😀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 they fall over because I didn’t make squares as I was short and I stand them up in a hurry the wrong way up
i dont care if its cows sheep pigs as long as you presnting it il be there
How many jerseys are you having?
Around 130 will be ideal for two Lely A5’s! X
Thankyou for more delightful content as a lovely alternative to a sick an wicked real world.
P.S.. Did you see what that bloody black cat has done to your new concrete floor 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
I SAW SHE WET IT 😂😂😂
Love the new barn. Are you installing toilet facilities. Milkman will appreciate it as will your vets.
Don't paint the girders, adds contrast to the black walls.
First
Yup. Ignore Roy. He’s 100% wrong on this one. Get that black paint on order 😂
first
I'm sure you do know that if you sold those sheep for Ramadan they are not stunned before slaughter.
Aware, and it doesn’t sit right x
At least you sold them and cared for them - far too many now, and increasing amount, get stolen off the field for the same market
Foxes are beautiful,but dangerous animals
Who turns up to a farm wearing trainers… 😅
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA Well I know a few people now 🤌🏻🤌🏻😋😋😋😋
YAh 18th. lol.
Great video to watch, Shed looking great, Can you show us the horny little lamb next time please, pity you dont sell to customers, I would defo have a lamb, Good to see the cat is feeding herself. Now get some sleep woman. Witchy X
I'm a lover of black, but I do like the steels in grey Charlotte. I think the contrast adds to the look.
First❤
On the ball 👍
@vernonlloyd1388 I have no life so I just sitwell watching CZcams waiting for Charlotte to post lol
Same honestly I’ve just been sat upstairs in a window uploading we are just the same 😂😂
Can there be a lambing situation where you need to call a vet?
