Xbox 360 Reads But Don't Play Game Disc

- Xbox 360 will not play game disc but it will read them and try to play them i'm a PlayStation System Support guy working on my first Xbox and come to fine out this system was banned from xbox Live.
My old one just reads it and then says "Open Tray"
The disc railings might need to be re-calibrated, if its off balance it can't read the disc.

Something very similar is happening to mine, but it never had any problems before now. It was working one night, and then the next it would not work.

Because dvd key is different so dvd reader will not work when changed. Also might be a broken NAND hack after RGH etc.

I figured it out today!!!! :D Just press the middle xbox buttons, Go all the way to the left and click settings, or system settings, next there will be a tab that will eather, say memory, or storage you click on that, then depending on whether you are using cloud or hard drive , instead of pressing A on it press Y, this will fix the problem and does not clear any game data, I hope it works for you to.

It won't work because you switched disc trays. Each disc tray is paired with the motherboard that is in that particular console, so to make it read discs again you must switch the lasers in the disc trays too.
I don't get what your saying but my Xbox 360 won't play Minecraft it just says open tray pls help

My aunt replaced my disc and she says it’s the same model number as the old disc tray and it won’t load any games it either says it’s a dvd or says it’s a game loads it for a second and then brings me back to home saying nothing....do you know the problem? Sorry for ranting
I don’t know for certain if this is your issue, but the disc drives are “married”/“Keyes”/“Locked” to the motherboard. Simply replacing the drive with same model number won’t work because their hardware identifying keys would be different. You would need to flash the old key to the new drive.

I'm trying to play minecraft on my Xbox 360 and I opened the tray and put the disc in and closed it , and it says reading then it just says "open tray" someone help me. I think my game died

Try removing the HDD and start the system, my disc read but still could not play due to the drive being removed. To cut to the chase, replace the HDD, might be the issue.

yea i found out the problem the system is not the problem it’s the disc that’s messed up from scratches
you can probably fixed the disc i’ve seen videos on youtube on how to fix it just look it up and you should be good

And login to another account(not connected to xblive) it might work

My Xbox 360 is having that problem and (here's the story) so I guess I opened the disc tray and I think I just put the game in and I closed it to fast and the next day when I tried to load it it didn't work

Just delete the game entirely off the system and then redownload it
