this is actually a LOT easier now.. they added the actual function to the menu some time ago. support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system/clear-system-cache or, go to settings, then system settings then storage (or memory), high-lite your hard drive hit the Y button for "device options" and a new menu pops up, click "clear cache" if you have memory and a hard drive it will clear both at once.. this should fix the problem, did for me. if not you may need to clean or replace your Laser / Lens.
it worked I have digital downloaded call of duty black ops 2 and it says in between the mission that disc unreadable so I cleared the cache and it worked thanks a lot man
If i remember correctly, the maintenance it performs is more of clearing up errors in updates, so I am not sure it will clear everyone's issues... either way, thanks for posting the video, I am sure it will help...
it doesn't just delete corrupted files, it delete's ever patch from all games... this is also useful if you are looking to glitch or cheat games that have been fixed (just dont go on xbox live or you have to get the patches again)

@chan no but this video is old so you don't have to input the button sequence just go onto your system settings and select storage then press Y button and a screen will pop up with options on it. select clear cache to perform maintanance.. Do NOT press format. that will send your Xbox to factory settings an you will loose all your saved games/software. hope I helped!!

try going to settings, then system, then "storage or memory", which ever you have. press y. and finally clear system cache. this will get you to the maintain storage device screen. then click yes. hope it helps.
Its known as "burning" a disk, it happens when you move your xbox when its on and its got a disk inside, thats why they tell you not to move it around when its on.
it loads up my profile but then says "this disc is unreadable" clean the disc with a soft cloth" "restart the console" and i cleared the cache already to i think it might be to srached up

I live in Australia so we have EBGames and I pre-ordered the Hardened Edition from there and the very first time I put the disc in and it said 'Unreadable Disc'. So I have to install the game which sucks because I have to keep un installing it since I barely have any room on my hard drive. It's only a 10GB hard drive so it's pretty small. I also need to install 6GB of Battlefield 3 updates as well so when I don't play BF3 and I wanna play MW3 i have to un-install the updates then install MW3 :(

On the new dashboard you dont need to input a code, just click Y on the hard drive and then click Clear System Cache

Thankyou so much man. If you have a new black console just press why and disregard the xx-lb-rb-xx bit but the rest do it and it will be sorted.
