  • As he was doomed on the bench by Zidane, FC Barcelona tried to snatch the young player from his team, Real Madrid. With no luck from Barcelona, he was loaned out to other teams, until he received his permanent role at Arsenal after gaining the respect of their fans, team members and the manager Mikel Arteta. Later with Aubameyang and Lacazette leaving and Xhaka being demoted due to display of bad behavior, Odegaard got into his role as the team’s captain. From beeing Real Madrids benchwarmer to becoming one of the youngest captains in Arsenal’s history! Here is the story of how Marting Odegaard climbed the ladder to his current role at Arsenal.

    From being benched at Madrid and considered another wonderkid flop to captain of a potential league winning team... Incredible turnaround for Martin!

      @DillaryHuff Před rokem +1

      Not really a turnaround. He's excelled for every team that gave him regular playing time. People just didn't notice it when he was playing in the Netherlands, since no one watches the Eredivisie. He did have a slow start at Arsenal, but I assume that had to do with fitness issues.
      As for Real Madrid, Achraf Hakimi would've been a perfect fullback addition right now, but the club has absolutely no patience with anyone, so of course we sold both him and Reguillon. I love Real Madrid, but it's a graveyard for young players, unless they can slot right into a position that's not occupied by a world class player already.

    yØdegaard is so hardworking and down to earth that he will be a very fine captain as long as he wants it. Many on the outside wondered when he became captain for Norway. However - it turns out that he is very good and important for the team off the field as well. This his teammates contributes to his personality, professionality av way of treating those around him. I always thought of him as a player who - despite his obvious marvelous techinque, needed trust over time to get into his role - Arteta has given him that. A main challenge for him earlier, was to represent a direct goalscoring threat himself, that is to score goals. In Arsenal we see he has worked on that, and have taken steps to becoming more complete as a really great player. With still 3-4 years to reach his prime age, I am excited to follow his development.

    Our team, Arsenal, has very talented players, some very good, it's almost impossible to pick one best among them. But you can't fail to NOTICE the potential in MO. His involving teamwork, his mighty passes. his dedication to the flow of the game. And command of the game is visibly enormous. he is the engine of the team and Arteta saw it!!!!!!!!!!!

    The captains armband is the football equivalent of 'putting a ring on it'. Hes signed for 4 years, meaning when it comes up for renogotiation, we will be 27/28 and in his prime. Probably worth around £150million or more if he continues on the current trejectory.
