Today in Plague Scythe Studios, I throw together my micro pedal collection to create the ultimate portable metal guitar rig! Subscribe: / plaguescythestudios
Bought the mooer pedal, and it pretty much turned my old pod hd into something viable that sounds closer to a helix. Also use it for my Mesa recto preamp. Great but n
Having mini pedals on a mini pedal board can be so great, like you said for traveling, and for saving space also. I have an Ibanez mini tube screamer, and use it to tighten the tone on my Peavey Bandit and know how good of a pedal it is. And after watching this, I'm considering of building my own mini pedal board, or try make a pedal board as small as possible.
Awesome demo n ideas brother...Really wish to build one...I wanna add an mooer 009 n noise gate n flashback delay 😊 bdw I have a doubt does this rig sounds better than zoom recent g3xn/g5n or boss gt1? Kindly share Ur valuable opinion plz.thank you
Thanks for the "no hype" info and I totally agree with the mini pedal thing...and went a little nuts...this is what I ended up with >> Donner Harmonic Square > Donner Blues Drive > Mooer Brown Sound III (005) > Donner Alpha FX > Mooer Micro Drummer > Lekato Looper with extension pedal > Mooer Baby Bomb > Vox 1x12 cab (made from an old Vox lead 30) Now I gotta make a pedal board like the one you made but a tad bit longer...;-)
Thinking about a mini board as well. I have the Radar, with that brick pwr supply. What are you using for the others? Ideally, I'd like the board to have the Radar, Mooer 002, TC Mini HOF & something like the Baby Bomb, but have all the all the power supply stuff daisy-chained underneath like you have here. Suggestions?
I'm building something like this right now but with a few full size pedals as well. Still a single row and 6 pedals in total though :) looking forward to gig and record with it
And then get a portable power amp pedal like a SD powerstage 170 or similar and you're the king ! I have a similar setup (still waiting for the SD powerstage) with a Two Notes LeLead preamp.
Your Mooer Micro Pre-amp videos were too much to take and I had to order one. Went with the 016 Pheonix, which I will probably try in the effects loop of the Randall RH100G2, either way with how little they cost, they are awesome little units for many situations. Thanks for your videos.
BASS player here, how's the hum, hiss, backgrounf noise. I have a Vonner triple looper, no problem. Might get the bass sweeper ( MOOER ). Nice video, rock on,man!!!
Nice Rig!!! I've been curious about these Mooer pedals ever since I bought the Radar to use with my Line 6 POD X3. The CAB IR simulations brought that old pedal back to value. currently I'm looking into the Mooer Fifty Fifty to run on a board for recording and covers. I did have a question for you about your power source. What power source are you implementing on that plank? do you have a link or a description. The trouble I have is finding a power source for multiple pedals on the board that can also work with the Radar.
That rig is way cool. I've had a bunch of pedals but the Ibanez TS mini is the best thing I've tried to push the front end of an amp. I had the Maxon 808 but sold it to go back to the TS mini. I think the mini sounds better. It is a bit cheaper as well!
Great in-depth video man. Could you disable the built-in cab sim and use the footswitch to switch between channels? Will the pedal "remember" that the cab sim is off? I've got little knowledge of the mooer preamps but I'm interested in getting one.
Yes, I keep the cab simulation off these entire time so the Radar does the cabinet duties. Of course, it also works for running the pedal into the FX Loop of an amp.
Thanks for the help. My plan is to use one on my desk as a little practice and jam rig so I don't have to fire up my tube amp every time I want to practice. I also want to mess around with it as a pocket rig with my quilter 45
Ibanez Mini Tubescreamer (overdrive) -> Mooer Pure Boost (booster - post-drive for volume boost) -> Mooer Micro Preamp 011 Cali-Dual (Dual Rectifier sim) -> Mooer Baby Water (chorus/delay) -> Mooer Radar (cab/mic sim) I really dig this rig, man. Everything you truly need in the palm of your hand - all you need is a plug and a (flat response) speaker. Mooers are true value - they're cheap but 95% of the way there. Usually only another gear head can hear the difference between the Mooer and the thing it's copying anyway(talking especially about their black secret, blues mood, hustle drive, trelicopter, e-lady)
how does it work. tube screaner goes in front, but delay in front is mostly not that great. how do you get the delay in the loop or something, how does is work.correction, get it. the delay goes between the preamp and poweramp from the radar. like an fxloop. and drive goes in front etc .
Yep, double the statements. I'm collecting myself a Mooer pedalboard with Radar being perfect unit for home use (good cab is expensive and not for flat) on tube head. Mooer has actually their own "Tube Screamer" named "Green Mile".
Hey man, killer shit!! Can you tell me how to get a pushed clean or an Intervals-like tone using free vsts? I'm in the jazz band for school and I really am in desperate need of a new tone, thank you!!
The anvil pre amp from is one of my favorites for cleans. Use a compressor, an EQ with a high shelf, cut on the lows, and an overall level boost, the pre amp, power amp sim (El 84s are my favorite for cleans) a suitable IR, and some spacious reverb. That's how I get my prog style cleans, which is basically a more saturated jazz tone.
He was probably using a Les Paul style guitar with two volume controls and a toggle switch(not a blade switch) considering how fast he pulled the stuttering off. If you do have a guitar like this, you’ll just need to set one of the volume controls to 0 based on which pickup you want to mute and just flick the switch as much as you wish 🙂
Hi Ryan! I got a question for you. This micro pedalborad was thinking to use whit monitors or amp? If you use this in front of a clean tube amp you got better response (I mean, tube response)? Thanks dude!! And cheers form Chile!
Thank you so much dude!! I got another question for you... Why Ryan is not using a Noise Gate pedal? I'm asking becose my TS7 makes a lot of noise when I turn it on. Cheers!!
Hey man, can I pick your brain? Putting together my own fly rig but am unsure what order the pedals should be connected. I think it should be noise gate, boost, mooer micro preamp, delay, reverb, and Mooer radar last. Then it goes to my DAW, or P.A. or whatever. Am I correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You have the basic gist down. You might find your noise gate to work better after th boost pedal depending on how sensitive it is, just do some experimenting and see what you like. Delay and reverb may sound better after the Radar as well, but in theory it shouldn't matter if they're mono. If you use stereo capable wet effects though, definitely put them after the cab sim, otherwise you're spot on.
that radar..is that the item you was speaking of you could plug phones into we spoke about on sunday i believe it was...I got my days mixed..ok mb it was yesterday..been litterally bogged today trying to catch up w bunch things here and projects in the editing so to speak..nice review...loved that tone though..at the end..sounded sharp..
btw..the set up with my zw pedals..yeah bro..made a big diff..marked everything w a dot.used wipe off sharpie on amp..only thing i did notice.on preamp..i was playing around 2:30 to 20 after 3..and i dialed around with master and preamp..ended up preamp to really get a sweet sound. just a slight befor 9..and master around 7..forgot to look ..may test preamp to slight past 9..i know ya noted to try not to go to high.but it seemned to sound better in the harmonics on main riff statrting out on stillborn..
Glad it's working out for you! Yes, this is one of the products that would work to get your cabinet sound using headphones. You would still need a load box to go between your amp and this device (or a similar product). I will demo that exact combination next week when my new toy gets delivered.
Plague Scythe Studios kewl...not poss how you would demo it hooking up in simulation w an amp.but im shur those of interest .a good demo would create sales and happy guitarists..
I was agonizing over lunchbox heads. 6505mh, Randall Diavlo 20, Egnater Rebel 30 mk II. Trying to keep it under $500. I spent $570, but picked up a Two Notes Le Lead, and Mooer Tube engine. If you add my other pedals, we come to $1400, but that's a complete rig. $100 60w cab 4x8.
All it needs is personal portability. Battery power pack and a decent headphone amp to top it off. Amp to phones, same tones and no compromising multi effect unit to ruin it with.
Do NOT put any pedal after a power amp, even the Baby Bomb. You will fry it. And don't use both the Radar and the Baby Bomb at the same time unless you have a non powered FRFR cab. You're stacking two cabinet sounds, which would sound like ass. You can split the signal in two and run the Radar direct and the power amp into a cabinet.
@@dazzmetcoll3843 the cab sim in the preamp it's not good enough... Pair it with the radar and it's crazy, load any IR from your PC and then there you go

A lot of people doing guitar videos on CZcams talk too much and bore me. You are actually likeable and hold my attention. Nicely done :-)
Is it me or does this guy look like the typical Jesus pictured/portrayed
He's metal Jesus
He looks like if Disney made a movie about Jesus
Praise the metal lord!
so we are listening to a prophecy now through this video? ;D
He is when Jesus born in the modern era
Great video as always man. Also sick ass Amon riff!
Really good video! I love that you broke it down pedal by pedal.
Awesome video man. Very informative. Some questions that I've been wondering about for some time. Thanks!
I subscribed and liked at the second I heard "Truth" being played. You sir, have good taste indeed.
I’ve got a Randall RG13, that and the Mooer Cab sim pedal with headphones could make some happy times....
My new favorite channel. Keep it up dude😈
Dude seriously, your fucking playing. Original as hell and just fucking righteous.
I just got a Mooer preamp live it's amazing what it does for the money. Technology is hot !

Love your mooer reviews dude, you and Ola Englund made me buy one :-]
Very cool mini board. Thought about a GE200, burned out on multi effects units though. Have 2 mooer mini amps in mind. Blacknight and mk3.

In my experience, you put the boost pedal after the distortion pedal to boost the level and before the distortion pedal to boost the grit.

Valeton SD-10 is a micro SD-1 clone. Even has the Boss style enclosure in miniature.
Holy shit I never knew that existed, I will certainly be checking them out. Thanks for the heads up!
I run my RADAR off of the same 9V PSU as the rest of my pedals, no problem.
AIM makes a 60 watt micro pedal power amp that is 60 watts, it runs off 9 volts as well. AIM GA-60

they have a 30w amp in the same size for $110. called the baby bomb
Baby Water? As in the Nirvana's Nevermind album cover? With a chorus and delay, isn't that a starter for the Come As You Are tone?
I can't believe I didn't make that connection...

How would you go about running this direct into the board rather than mic-ing a cab?
Look up the Mooer Micro DI pedal. Same size as these ones, and it has an XLR out. It's like $50 as well, so it will work great in a setup like this.
Replace mooer radar by a delay pedal ,the preamp already has cab sim built in
