    Well I think if it's just an adjustment you have to wonder why Kubota would not offer the adjustment as good faith to the customers or future customers watching how they ignored the problem. Good for you Paul showing Kubota how to do it. Cheers

      Well the problem was is that everyone's BX seemed to operate differently. No consistency to any of them so I've proven that they will stop both forward in and reverse at an acceptable and safe distance. This is the first time ours have worked like this. Hope all is well on your end.

    Paul this may be a temp fix only. Everyone I read their comments to on Tractor talk have all tried this and if you take to dealership they do basically the same and in a week or two it is back with the same problem. Kobuta has a service bulletin on the fix that is suppose to be permanent but they will not share with general owners but tell you to take to shop for bearings in the trans. However I will also try that on mine and if it is not corrected I will take to dealership since I still have a year of warranty. Why they don't consider this a bad safety problem is like Chev saying no problems with ignition switch. Thanks for the time.

      Well time will tell. If it don't last I have no other choice but to file a complaint with Transport Canada and ask them to investigate the issue. If there's an actually fix for a none stopping tractor I'm sure they'll find it very interesting as to why Kubota is not trying to keep their past customers safe on their defective units.
      As for tractor talks. I've seen no mention of this adjustment not working. It's not a difficult system to diagnose. These adjustments need to be for find performed every 100 hours according to the factory shop manual.

  • @Rocknrebel
    @Rocknrebel Před 8 lety

    It's pretty amazing that a tractor would be sold and not even be calibrated. The one cam looked easy enough to get to but the reverse nut looks tricky. Good job getting it all dialled in and helping others figure out what's up with it.

    Hi Paul ... I'm taking a break from the "Barn Build" and before the next 7 inches of snow tomorrow, to check this video on the BX stopping issue. As you mentioned the problem has no consistency. My BX drifts in forward but stops on a dime in reverse ... almost too fast! Now that I have an actual building, working on the BX should be a much simpler task. I'll climb under the BX and take a look. I'm coming up on 200 hours ... Yes 200 hours and will do the required maintenance. Thanks for the tips on the stopping issue and as usual, I enjoyed the video ... Also Hello to Kathy ... the woman behind the man! A very important part of the story!

    All your mod's have been educational and entertaining, I'm glad you've done them. Tool storage, light's to see and all the rest improve the function of the tractor. But stopping in a safe distance and smoothly is a huge safety issue. Glad you took the time to show how you handled this issue. My wheel horse has a similar issue and I'll be checking if this adjustment will work for me. Now that you've listed the hat's Kathy has, maybe a purse and boot's now and then isn't so bad after all. My best to you both, stay safe my friend.

    It's interesting that they allow this problem.
    I imagine if a lawsuit comes up, the corporate office will blame it on the dealer not doing proper pdi inspection and adjustments.
    If you look at homeowner duty riding lawnmowers, they have so much safety warnings, gizmos, stickers, manuals, reverse lockout keys, lockout switches and all that crap - they take it to the point they become difficult to use.

      @7863348  Před 8 lety

      +12345NoNamesLeft
      It's an odd situation. Some dealers say it's normal, some say there's no fix, some owners say they can't get any satisfaction dealing with their dealers. It's time Kubota addresses the issue before someone gets injured or killed. Our tractor proves that's it's a repairable problem.

      No money to be made here this winter. It snows then turns to rain. We got a wind warning in effect for tonight and plus 10 tomorrow. The flash bar on the ROPS is rather distracting and irritating, from a front on viewer perspective, during daylight hours. Maybe when you are in the yard your can turn that off. When you are doing night plowing vids with the big tractor, the roof lights strobing the hood and back of the fel are also irritating. I will be getting a L6060 in a couple more months and I am considering a flat black body wrap applied to the center of the hood to cut down on the reflections back into my eyes. Because your pupils will contract with the additional light, the more light you have reflecting off things you don't need to see, the harder it is for you to see the things you do need to see.

      Your joking right?

    • @donbrutcher4501
      @donbrutcher4501 Před 8 lety

      +Paul Short Kidding? Not at all, but allow me to attempt to explain. Your visual perspective as an equipment operator has your eyes moving continuously. Mine, as a video viewer, has my eyes fixated on the screen and not moving. Secondly, I have a few years on you and am experiencing some of the joys of aging, ie. cataracts and strong lens prescriptions. For folks who suffer such maladies, LED lights are great for a while when we are behind them and totally suck when we must look towards them, especially when they are flashing! Probably has as much to do with color temperature as brightness. Lastly, I watch your vids when you are operating your tractors to learn some of your techniques. When the video camera is mounted outside the tractor, the flashing lights, like those on the ROPS, distract/impair my ability to concentrate on what the equipment is doing. I fully understand the need for intense lighting from an operator perspective. I only desire to express my experience from my perspective. Thank you for your patience and highly instructive videos. God Bless.

    Not too familiar with Kubota but the way I understand HST is there is a swath plate that controls fluid flow. It seems that the swath plate is not returning to neutral stopping the flow of oil. The swath plate is controlled by your petals so I am guessing the petals need adjusting just as you have done. I have worked on many zero-turn mowers with this problem and it just a matter of adjusting the control levers.

    Now see on the KUBOTA RTV we put in a Valve so they coast some since they are very touchy and its very close to the same trans i think as your BX Tractors .
    And in bigger Hydro Trans machines like combines and row crop sprayers it was normal to pull the stick back and go wheeeeee lol

      I made about twenty trips up and down tweeking that set up and that floor is cold (burr)
      We've had a mild spell here for about a week. We got 15 cm's of snow a few days ago and then we got 25mm's of rain. Supposed to get colder today.
      I got those chrome nuts down in the US two years ago. I'll try and see if I have any added info for you if interested.
      Hope all is well over there.

      The getting up and down with progress being made is the saviour in completing these tasks.
      But when I forget a tool, part or other do-dad once I'm on the floor - that is the one thing that ticks me off - more so because I can only blame myself.
      Anyway, I was at Princess Auto in Kelowna last week snooping around and saw that they had a selection of chrome nut caps in stock.
      I've seen them on Amazon as well.
      I appreciate the offer, but you're truly busy enough - plus what's available your side of the continent and on this side can vary considerably.
      The great thing about Amazon (and other sources) is that what used to be hard to get, isn't any longer.
      I'll peruse the digital shopping mall to see what is available...but thanks again, I do appreciate the offer.

    Paul, I watched this prior to taking delivery of my tractor and knew what to expect. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that Kubota has gotten a handle on this issue. Today it was warm and dry so I decided to check it out. My pedal return dampener was already in the lowest position. I loosened the nut and moved them up a little better than 1/4", figuring I would take the conservative approach. Forward stopping is considerably improved, but reverse is still unresponsive. As I see it, continuing to add tension to the spring should eventually affect the reverse action. Looking again at the video, yours is still a good bit higher than mine. Am I correct that I should see improvement in the reverse action with more tightening? Thanks for all your help, on so many things!

    Hi Paul, I enjoy your information. I have a question for you. I have a BX25D that the gauges do not reset to zero when hot. They basically start from the middle and then go off the chart until the tractor is stopped and allowed to cool completely before being correct again (i assume). Have you ever considered adding a analog temperature gauge to a BX? Not sure how I will ever see a response if you answer :(

  • @l.paulchamberland9919
    @l.paulchamberland9919 Před 8 lety

    Great video clip Paul. The more you figure out on your BX25D the smarter we all get. Two questions, is the BX2370 a similar adjustment set up? And, the rear adjustment, did you adjust the threaded rod adjustment down or up to improve stopping? Still loving my BX and the front mounted 50" snowblower is a monster!!!! Thanks again.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  Před 8 lety

      +L. Paul Chamberland
      Yes they are the same. You'll want to tighten that lower nut to put mote tension on the spring to make the pedal return to neutral faster. Do this only IF your unit don't stop quick enough. Also remember there's a lock nut and n the top side of that lower nut that needs to be loosened before you can make that adjustment.
      Nice to hear your enjoying your tractor. I would advise letting the dealer do this work of its covered under your warranty.
      Good luck.

      Bored with the Kubota stuff now. I've got four never seen before mods done on our units but won't post them because of bota Corp.
      We need a differant manufacturer now so I can get back to the basics. Happy fourth or Canada Day depending on what side of the border your on. Thanks for the chat ;)
