Love this watch. So easy to view the time, that dial is beautiful. Got it during lockdown 2020 and it’s my favourite watch. I wear it when I run, during treks and on casual days out. For the summer I throw on a yellow strap and put the green back on for all other seasons. I also have the Maharishi strap which is brilliant especially because it has a black buckle and keeper . Very complete review, I have had that watch for a year and it is my favorite, basically it is a tool, the only fault it has, according to my experience, is that it fails with electromagnetic emissions, I work in maritime protection on the high seas and the ship's radars fishing vessel (tuna freezer) where I was embarked, they made the watch unusable, even so I liked the watch so much that I bought it again, curiously on other of my shipments I carried the Casio G-Shock Rangeman GPR-B1000-1JR and even when I was on guard very close The radars did not affect it, in any case I think that GWG 1000 is one of Casio's most complete G-Shocks, great video and greetings from Spain

As for your Rangeman, it’s another fantastic watch and, in my opinion, is much more legible. I think that the tech inside is different than the GWG-1000 so that may explain that the radars didn’t affect it.
I wanted to buy the GWG-1000-1A3JF at the time, but found it too expensive and got the GWG-100-1A3 instead. While you’re on the home screen (timekeeping mode), is it possible to have the local time on the analog hands , while displaying your secondary time zone on the digital screen, instead of the date?
Good question! The quick answer to your question is “no” b/c the date display cannot be changed to show the secondary time, much less any other function on the Home Screen. However, “yes” you could but you’d have to be on the WT (World Time) function instead of staying on the Home Screen and “play” around with the time a little. When you go through the Mode button (bottom left), the second to last function is WT. It shows you the secondary time on the hands and the local time (HT = Home Time) on the digital display. What you can do is, at the WT function, set your local time as the secondary time (WT) and this way, when your watch is on that function, the hands will show your local time and the digital display will show the secondary time. You have to keep in mind that the indication “HT” will be displayed on the digital screen but it’s not your Home Time but rather the secondary time. That’s the only way I can see. I hope my explanation is not all over the place and it makes sense to you (I think I read my text 5 times before pressing “send” 😉) Thanks for your question and thanks for watching!
Hey! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain! This is really helpful. Here is my follow up question :D When in WT mode, I understand that there is a ‘timesawpp’ feature which you described, where you can long-press a button and it will flip your WT and your HT - presenting the desired result with the local time on the analogue hands & the overseas time zone now on the LCD screen (although it is now indicated as HT)… So my question is -if you were then to back out of World time mode and go to regular timekeeping mode, would the watch still consider the overseas time as the ‘home time’? Obviously, that would not be the desired result because it would be inconvenient having to manually reset it back/time swap it, in order to set alarms in your ACTUAL home time.. Or, when you use the ‘time swap’ function within ‘world time mode’, does your home time automatically return to normal local time when you go to back to the home screen of timekeeping mode? Thanks so much 😃
Hi again, that is an excellent question! I had to try it for myself and, you are right; when you go back to the regular timekeeping mode, the HT changes to the “new” HT you just swapped in the WT function. Essentially, this is made for people who travel to a location that will truly become their HT and would be, like you said, inconvenient for you and me 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks again for your comment and questions.
This is kind of a grail watch for me, but the fact you have to unscrew the crown to set the timer is kind of a turnoff. I’m never really in the mud, but I really like being in the rain. Does that mean I can’t adjust the timer then, or is it still waterproof when the crown is unscrewed?
Hi @@In5an1tyB, I understand what you’re saying. In my case, I love “interacting” with my watches and this one’s no different. As for the waterproofing of the watch, the crown MUST be screwed in to keep the 200 WR. That’s why the crown has a red “notification ring” that appears when you unscrew the crown. It reminds you to screw it back in once you’re done adjusting it. I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
I am looking to upgrade and this watch was is on my list but I find that the GWG 2000 or the GWG B 1000 both look much premium than the GWG 1000. Same toughness but that metal makes it look so much premium.
I agree with you and I was hesitant to get the GWG-2000 because of the look and feel. However, I like that the GWG-1000 without the metal is lighter and I am not as worried about scratches on it. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
@@timetowatch_francois Actually both the gwg 2000 and the gwg b 1000 despite having metal parts on them, are lighter than the GWG 1000. Both are even thinner and slimmer than the gwg 1000 so I would need to go to a casio store to try these out.
Great looking watch but the LCD display is way too dim and can only be seen in bright sunlight. Couple that with the awful backlight which apart from illuminating the number 6 on the dial does precious little else and it's a dealbreaker.
I just now recieved my gwg 1000 1a1. I do really like it but the band needs to be a little longer. I have big wrists and it is so far to the end of the band the lose ends pops lose all the time. It's quite irritating to be honest
@Peter Weikel - Completely understand. If I recall, I seem to have seen someone use some sort of adapter to retro-fit a NATO-like strap which adds length to the strap. You may want to try that option. It’s sad to have this beauty stay in a drawer 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching.
The 4 screws on each corner of the face are just decoration, no function, and part of the black resin guard. I was a little disappointed when I saw that, being a machinist, but that is my only complaint, and I love this watch.
I watched a video right before this one and he disassembled the same watch. Those 4 screws on the outside are just for show - they do not screw into anything so do not have any affect on water prodding it! Up until then - I would have said the same!!
@travisbromell3660 - That is very cool! 😎👍🏼 Very stealthy watch, love it. Do you have the version with the blacked out hands or is it the "pop out" white hands version? Personally, I like to see the time so I'd go with the white hands version 😉
i do like G SHOCK watches and i thought G shock is 200$ company but last month I research out of broadness and realize its 10000$ watch too. This one is 700$ and to read temperature you must remove the watch from wrist and altimeter is just mimic according many You tube posts I dont get it why 700$
I hear you. However, I figure you understand that, if you want an accurate reading of the temperature, you don't want to have your body heat influence it, right? Like any other thermometer for that matter. Furthermore, I haven't heard of any "mimicking" of the altimeter but they may be referring to the sensors that grab the current air pressure and "may" estimate the value i.e. it's not as precise as a true/calibrated altimeter tool BUT I can assure you, in my eyes anyway, for 700$, you get a lot of watch for your money. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!
@johnnysmile01 - If you can do the GD-X6900, you can do this one for sure! The lug to lug on your GD-X6900 is a little bit longer than this GWG-1000 so you'd rock this Mud Master w/o a sweat! If you have the budget, I'd go for it if I were you. You'll love it even more when you see it "live". Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment!

Thanks again for your comment and questions.
6 years running strong. Only watch I wear.
Great looking watch but the LCD display is way too dim and can only be seen in bright sunlight. Couple that with the awful backlight which apart from illuminating the number 6 on the dial does precious little else and it's a dealbreaker.
Thanks for your insight. I can’t say that’s my experience with this one 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for watching.
The LCD display is a bit dim, but the backlight is amazing.
Maybe you have the blackout version, which has less lume and a dimmer backlight.
Good job 👍
Thanks! Appreciate your kind words.

Great!! You’ll see that it’s even better “live”
Enjoy! Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 😊👍🏼
It’s sad to have this beauty stay in a drawer 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching.
@@timetowatch_francois you're referring to Jory Goodman of The Time Teller. He opted Nato for his GWG-1000.
Here's the video

@@kma86 - Exactly! Thanks for the reminder. 😄👍🏼
I took the band of mine and replaced it with a strap.
The 4 screws on each corner of the face are just decoration, no function, and part of the black resin guard. I was a little disappointed when I saw that, being a machinist, but that is my only complaint, and I love this watch.
I still have the watch and still love it nonetheless.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!
Wow now that is a watch ❤ I want one
You can say that again! 😄👍🏼
Thanks for watching.
I watched a video right before this one and he disassembled the same watch. Those 4 screws on the outside are just for show - they do not screw into anything so do not have any affect on water prodding it! Up until then - I would have said the same!!
Oh! Interesting!
Thanks for the heads up 🙂👍🏼
And thanks for watching.
I have the gwg-1000 blackout edition 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@travisbromell3660 - That is very cool! 😎👍🏼 Very stealthy watch, love it.
Do you have the version with the blacked out hands or is it the "pop out" white hands version?
Personally, I like to see the time so I'd go with the white hands version 😉
@@timetowatch_francois the hour and minute hands are white the numbers are gray
@@travisbromell3660 - Now THAT’S what I talkin’ about! Great acquisition! 🔥😊👍🏼
@@timetowatch_francois thanks💯
Can I manually set the hands to a different time to what the digital time is set to? (Without going into world time mode?)
Unfortunately, no.
Thanks for asking!
i do like G SHOCK watches and i thought G shock is 200$ company but last month I research out of broadness and realize its 10000$ watch too.
Is this bigger than a GD-X6900 ? My wrist can do that One no problem but this looks wider anyway i would like to have One.
So where is the date showing?? Date and day of the week?!
The “Display” button I mentioned (top left when looking at the face) will change the digital display and show the day & date. When pressing more than once, it will circle back to the time.
Hope this helped.
Thanks for watching.
Good review. Just got mine today. Looks similar to my GGB100
Thanks for your kind words.
I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.
I went hiking last weekend and loved having it back on my wrist.

@@timetowatch_francois I’m really considering getting the new GWGB1000 but Casio chose to go smaller with this successor to the 2000. Leaves me in the fence of whether I should get it or not.
@@Stan-ug9mx - I hear you loud and clear. I know the feeling. The next generation may be interesting but I’d still choose the B1000 today.
Good luck! But keep in mind that whichever you choose to get, you can’t go wrong.
@@timetowatch_francois are you going to get the GWGB1000?
@@Stan-ug9mx I wish, but no. The “standard” GWG-1000 is more than suitable.
Those 4 "screws " on the bezel are actually there for aesthetics only.
They are metallic but don't actually contribute to holding the case together.
@Robert Vogt - You're absolutely right! After seeing your comment, I took out the wrist support under the strap and there it is; a press-fit "screw" just for show ... they got me there 😄
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
bang for your buck, u can't beat a Casio. id put a high-end Casio over a Submariner all day every day. and for sure a high-end Seiko over a Sub.
From your writings to everyone's ears/eyes! 😄👍🏼
I TOTALLY agree! 💯
Thanks for your comment ... you're spot on.

Does the digital display has its own light?
Yes it does. It’s a LED light located on the right side of the display.
Keep in mind that the LED light located right under the “6 o’clock” position is very strong and adds to the legibility of the digital display as well.

Sorry. I ment Gulfmaster GWN-Q1000 NOT Marinmaster.
@@xerxes1111Frogman has the best compass.
They all have sapphire.
Yes, I realize it now but, at the time, it was not specified in the G-Shock Canada website.

Anyone got any idea what the 'GE' marking is resemble of?
@MisterRz - “Japan GE” indicates that the product (in this case the GWG-1000) is imported from Japan for world sale.

You need to calibrate it properly.
Keep The watch level when you use compass and dont forget to calibrate If needed.
