A single-vehicle accident occurred with three males in a Toyota Camry. The driver lost control and went onto the right shoulder for unknown reasons. He went up the embankment and hit the concrete support of a freeway sign. The car hit and landed back on the right shoulder. One person may have been ejected, or some Good Samaritans pulled the one male. He was deceased at the time when 1st Responders arrived.
2 other males were found in the wreckage, with one pulled out and rushed to a local hospital. The 3rd male had to be extricated from the car, and he was being assisted with breathing as he was rushed to the hospital.
Summary: One male died, and two males were transported with life-threatening injuries.

San Diego, CA- On Friday, August 16, 2024, at approximately 6:45 a.m., a 24-
year-old male from Oakland, CA, was driving a Toyota Corolla with two
passengers on Interstate 805 northbound, north of Telegraph Canyon Road. For
reasons under investigation, the Toyota veered off the roadway and struck a
concrete pillar. As a result of the crash, a 23-year-old male passenger from
Newark, CA sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The
driver and 50-year-old male (residence unknown) passenger were transported to a
local hospital with major injuries. Alcohol/and or drugs are not a suspected factor
in this crash. The right three lanes of Interstate 805, northbound, north of
Telegraph Canyon Road were closed to facilitate the investigation.
The cause and sequence of events are under investigation by the California
Highway Patrol (CHP) San Diego Area. The name of the deceased is being
withheld pending notification to the next of kin by the San Diego County Medical
Examiner’s office.
