This truck is interesting. Trying to earn customers from Ford with the improved interior and similar body shape. Also trying to take customers from the Tundra by offering only a solid V8 with presumably better gas mileage (tundras main gripe). The 5 year 100000 mile warranty shows that they stand behind their product

Nissan of today is more likely to deny a warranty claim then approve it. The standard line is the vehicle is operating as designed. I have owned 3 Nissans and I currently own a16 XD with the cumins, great truck crappy company! This will be my last Nissan. The AC on this truck is so loud I can hear it over the radio. Nissans response is it is operating as designed. I call bs every vehicle I have owned I have never been able to hear my ac over the radio.

I have a 2020 TRD Pro double cab on order to replace my 2004 Nissan Titan with 184,000 miles on it. But for the 2019/2020 year Toyota removed the auxiliary transmission cooler for no apparent reason other than cost cutting, now guys are consistently reporting trans temps well north of 200F. This 2020 Titan has me reconsidering my options, especially if I can still get a King Cab Pro4X in that awesome new sand color. I've had quite a few things break on my 2004 Titan, but I've beat the dickens out of it, lots of offroad. The one thing that has never failed, that 5.6 Endurance engine, its an absolute beast. Everytime I go from my POS 5.3 chevy Silverado back to my Titan camping rig, I damn near give myself whiplash because of the difference in power that the Titan has. Decisions decisions decisions. Another thing Titan had in spades, turning radius. Folks don't consider how important turning radius is when in 4 low on a jeep track.

I drive a 2018 xd gas 4x4, I used to have a problem with the 7spd's shifting, but it has honestly grown on me. I know it's stupid, but it has become my reluctant partner in crime. I want to cruise at 35 on surface streets? Nope, you cannot have 5th gear for any reason below 41mph. Want 1st gear? Not without a trailer attached (not sure if they all do this, but mine skips first unless it's in tow/ haul mode).Want to deccelerate quietly? No chance- It gear brakes the absolute second you remove your foot from the pedal (and thanks to the exhaust on mine, does its best jake- brake impersonation, loud and proud) I think it gives the truck some personality. It functions as intended, but doesn't make the experience seem to appliance-like, or let you forget that you are in a truck. I realize that i'm likely in the minority here, but the "touch of obstinate" the truck displays when being used for non-trucklike things, I find endearing, Like the truck is complaining about not being worked -put a 10k trailer on it, press the tow/haul button, and the programming makes perfect sense. The only thing I would change is that I wish the truck would remember the tow/ haul setting when you re-start it.

My neighbor just dropped by on Christmas eve to show me their new 2019 Ford F-150 quad cab pickup with the eco-boost V6 and it's remarkable how similar these 2 trucks look -- right down to the full cab Panaramatic moon roof. She took me for a ride and I'm pretty sure the engine sound is piped in because it sounds like a V8 when she punched it. I do believe the interior is done a bit nicer and the running boards automatically pop out. The mirrors also illuminate for exiting which is a nice touch. Here's where things drastically diverge. The Ford is about $74,000.

I think the best way to test it is by just doing average truck things with a lot of daily driver stuff added in. Everyone knows that if you need to go hardcore truck stuff, that this is not the truck for you. However if you need a truck for occasional things where you simply need a truck bed or to tow a light trailer or off-roading, then this truck might be a contender. Try showing me why that warranty is important and how much value it could represent over a lot of the competition simply ending their warranties earlier. I usually don't see a lot of trucks from 15 years ago still on the road but I do still see a bunch of gen 1 Titans.

Disappointed they got rid of the Cummins 5.3L ... To me, that truck was built like a heavy half ton but rode more like a truck with softer suspension. It filled a niche at a price point that was less expensive than anything offered by the other brands. Ultimately, I'd like a truck that can be used like a daily driver, but can occasionally tow a small compact track loader (about 7,000 lbs. excluding trailer weight) without straining. Reliability is also very important to me. I regularly put 300k on my vehicles before sending them down the road, and I want a vehicle that will last as long without mechanical issues. My current truck (2011 Tundra) isn't used for towing heavier items like my CTL, but I do tow about 3,500 - 4,000 lbs with it regularly (about 60 miles round trip to the races on friday nights). I have a little less than 250K on this one and it still runs great. Never had to replace anything but except normal wearing items (tires, brakes, battery, and the occasional headlamp/tail lights). Its hard to consider another brand given the track record I've had with the Toyotas I've owned over the years, but I would like to step up the towing capability with my next truck, and may lean toward a 3/4 ton vehicle this time around. Don't know which brand at this point, but I guess Nissan is out of the running without the Cummins.

I want to see a different type of performance test. Take it to the track with a full payload and see how it accelerates with stuff in the bed from 0-55mph, which is average highway speed. And most importantly, test the breaks to see how long it takes to stop from 55-0.
Also see if the premium fuel makes a noticeable difference when towing on the IKE. Also turn radius test comparisons. Drag race comparisons too.
I think you should add this type of testing to your reviews.

No i would say Toyota is more like the GM of Japan. Functional but not revolutionary or flashy. IE GM still uses pushrod V8s in their trucks unlike Ford which has gone to turbo DOHC V6s. Just like Toyota which has stuck with naturally aspirated engines in all of their cars. They haven't gotten on the downsized turbo engine train. Some people seem to be confusing this comment as a criticism of GM. No I'm a Chevy guy 100%. Simplicity= reliability.

@@Welcometofacsistube I can't attest to an ohc engine being unreliable. I think ohc is easier to work with than ohv because if you need to remove the cam for some reason, boom pull the valve cover and the cam is right there. Ohv is easier when adjusting valve clearance, and it is far more compact. Ohv is also easier if there's a timing chain to replace, but then again ohc can be easier if there's a timing belt. It all depends on how the engine is designed. Some ohc engines are easy to get to everything, and some aren't. Some ohv engines are easy to get to everything, and some aren't. But I don't think either one is more or less reliable than the other.
