This scene was one of the best I have ever watched. Rebecca Ferguson once again gave phenomenal performance here. The music and the cinematography further enhanced the unworldly feeling that something very important is happening.

Reverend Mother Superior. Reverend Mothers were a dime a dozen on Chapterhouse. From what i remember RM's could only access their own genetic memory while RMS's could copy and share other RM's as well. So if a sister was dying, a RMS could take her memories and incorporate them into her own.
@@graphite2786 reverend mothers could also share. Odrade forced Sheeana to share with her and she herself shared with Murbella. One becomes a reverend mother superior because her sisters vote for her as the leader of the order, there is no trial to be had. One just have to be exceptionally brilliant.
@@ninshu6paths659 RM's weren't allowed to share unless they were a RMS. It was Law. Only in extreme situations would RMs share memories ie , to save a Mother memory line for example. It's like a doctor and a surgeon. In an emergency a doctor could perform an appendix removal but a surgeon would be the preferred operator.

Paul drinking the Water of Life; this attribute alone makes him the Kwisatz Haderach: The fulfillment of the Fremen/Bene Gesserit Prophecy from time immemorial. Truly the one to be feared by the Spacing Guild and All the Great Houses!!! It is admirable to see how this fulfilled prophecy was borne out of The Lady Jessica's Love for Duke Leto Adreides "The Just"!

@@laraloper yes, he eventually fails as messiah, you should read dune messiah where Denis part-3 will be based on, or you can watch children of Dune miniseries of 2003, the first part is Messiah where emperor Muad’dib fails.
Or you can wait out the 2 years for DV’s Dune part-3 movie

My only protest over these filmbooks is that it frequently contains knowledge the Imperium shouldn't have.
The water of life is only taken by Fremen rev mothers as only they have it. The mainline bene geserit used massive doses of spice. Their right of passage is called the spice agony.

In the movie, she says Paul that she have no idea about how one become a Reverend Mother in Fremen culture. She asks, refering to Water of Life, "What is it?" before drinking that poison. After the rite and the transformation, she understands what that water is, learns whose daughter she actually is, what are some mysteries in the universe and which road they have to take.

1:31 "Females from their hereditary line..." Does that mean they gain the memories from ALL female ancestors OR only from their mothers, their mothers' mother and so on and so forth? Because if it's the latter, then the Kwisatz Haderach would gain exponentially more. I'm not a native english speaker, so I'm a little confused. Thanks for helping :)
They gain the memories of all of their female ancestors (meaning mother, grandmother and so on) as well as those of every Reverend Mother who came before them.

I've just came back from the cinema. 3/4 of the theater was full. Dear WB, please explain, why are you so eager to push your movies into streaming while they are still making money in the cinemas?

I haven't read the books so this is just my theory, but maybe someone who has read them can confirm or infirm it:
My guess is that these genetic memories are carried by the X chromosome for female memories, and Y chromosomes for male memories, and since females don't have a Y chromosome, then can only access the female memories stored on the X chromosomes.
In the books, Bene Gesserit women DO have their male genetic memories, but they are afraid of looking at them. Explaining why they're so afraid would be spoilers for the third book...

He said, "needed to capitalize on making Chani an even more integral character to the story, and to help get across Dune's complex themes." He also said the audience needs to see 2 sides: the fundamentalist side that goes with Paul no matter what and Chani's side, who is horrified at what Paul is becoming.
