who would like to see me do a full video on George Washington Carver? I only talked about one of the hundreds of good things he has done for our world.
I understand this video will most likely be taken the wrong way because a lot of people haven't been too happy with me as of late. Just please don't take the least charitable interpretation
6:27 I'm not saying systemic racism is or isn't real, I just think the example she gave isn't.
8:04 this could be taken the wrong way, I think black history should be shown throughout the year and not all lumped into one month. I don't think black history month was made to make black people feel more comfortable but the example she gave for white people just didn't work.

In my honest opinion, I just feel that the PSA is bad because of how they inform the message in the worst way. And with the background of the Crystals, they would be one of the last characters I would not use to present a PSA message (I would have done a classic character like He-Man or Static Shock). The historical accuracy was also worse as I felt it was more on forcing the agenda than fact-checking the real events. I think it has done better with the video, but the biased "education" about "stereotyping" (which is a good thing to have when done right like RDR2, Skullgirls, even the classic Care Bears).
Overall, I like this video because of how it shows how to not do a PSA when it does not have a clear message and not finished their homework.

I got another issue with this PSA. Does anybody else feel like Pearl's lecture is like, extremely out of character? Pearl was never really one to care about human affairs, let alone the struggles of a specific race of people.
I can see why Pearl would be passionate about slavery to a degree, since she herself was a slave once on Homeworld, but all this "woke" anger about black historical figures not being talked about enough in schools? I don't know; I call bullshit.
Pearl was always *extremely* dismissive of humanity altogether; she loved the Earth, but she thought humans were silly, frivolous creatures.
I mean this is also what made her extremely funny. She had such scathing comments on humanity.
"Humans find such fascinating ways to waste their time"
"Humans just live short, boring, insignificant lives so they make up stories to feel like they're a part of something bigger."
Yes, she's had character development since then, but we're still basically mayflies to Pearl. Think about how we look at mayflies. It might be fun to study them a bit, but unless you find someone who's _really_ devoted, most people don't really find it all that relevant to get super involved with their "personal" lives.

I find it slightly out of character. Pearl was always one to value culture and history, yeah mostly of the gems, but in this instance that would appear to extent to humans. Don't blame Pearl. CN is using their power to force her into these PSAs. Honestly, they feel insulting yo the cast and show itself. Dove's Body Positively messages were so much better since self esteem and body positivity were actual great concepts that Steven Universe explored.
Of course, in the WOKEST YEAR WITH ALL THIS RACIAL TENSION, of course the CN would put something out like this.
I have nothing against black justice and history, but we are at a point in society where black people are just...people. They have become just as important as ALL people. There is no need to dedicate SPECIFIC time to celebrating Black history or protesting black justice when you can be doing that ALL THE TIME.
I understand the BLM matter or last year and I am a supporter of it (well, the peaceful protests, that is.) But black history does not need to be condescendingly forced onto others and shame them got "not caring about the cause."

It is a continent made up of different countries made up of different states and tribes. And like any other continent there are enemies within the continent. That's like blaming the Chinese for being killed by the Japanese because they're both Asian countries. Severely ignorant. Slaves were likely being sold by enemy tribes and countries. The only black knight I’ve ever heard of was the one you mentioned in this video about Arthurian legend which is debatable about how real it actually was. If there was any black knights they legitimately where few and far between and didn’t do anything significant enough to distinguish themselves.
Also unlike Pearl at least you sited what she could have been referring to when talking about black knights. That just can’t be mentioned without context because knights where specifically a European thing which very very few black people lived in during the time of knights. You can have diversity whitout it feeling absurd if you take a real life event as a reference and build on it in a way that feel like something that could have happened(for example, an Italian guy in china is stupid unless you give him a background remineshent of Marco Polo).
It become idiotic when some historical exceptional even is used as an excuse to claim that every show set in the middle age need a black knight even if it's absurd for the speciphic time and place and if you don't put one you are a clansman.

I feel like history should be more "widen". For example, when we talk about the civil rights movement, we only think about Black people and woman.
Maybe mention the green movement if you wanna add a little more flavor but no one talks about the Hispanic or Asian movements that were happening at the same time or the LGBT community at the time either. No one talks about the Native Americans unless it's near Thanksgiving or someone brought it up.
History is messy, overlaps and has many point of view that have to be cut if you want to fit it into an hour and 30 minutes.
However, I am also painfully aware that most people do not care. If they don't need to know then they won't know.
Most people just want it to be simple and fast. They don't care unless they are in those groups or have a passion for history. We should try to be inclusive and correct but that's honestly up to the educational system. Sure, some people want to blame the teachers but they don't control the those final test and most don't want their paychecks docked.

This PSA is pretty bad imo. It's ridiculous that they posit racism as the only reason we don't hear about Lewis Latimer. I'm pretty sure that many people know who invented the first working telephone, airplane, or automobile. But how many people can name every single person who made improvements upon the original design? Pretty much every invention we use today has gone through hundreds or thousands of iterations. If kids are required to learn about Latimer as well as Edison why stop there? I'm sure many other people contributed to the design of the lightbulb. Will they get a mention as well? And if kids are required to learn about significant improvements for every major invention that's going to eat up a lot of class time. Also particularly egregious is the insinuation that white readers would feel uncomfortable learning about a black inventor. This seems like a classic example of projection, honestly. I'm not denying that Mr. Latimer's contributions are important. Quite the contrary. But the push to have Latimer included just seems like an attempt to shoehorn more black faces into the history books because black people are feeling inadequate. Also, I haven't watched Cartoon Network since I was a kid, so I have no idea who this character is, but I have to wonder: is she normally this abhorrent? As if the message itself wasn't bad enough, her angry, strident, lecturing tone made it absolutely unbearable.
