Zhepard I know, he was the reference guy, he would correct the actors and instruct them on how they would act back during those times. Massive respect for Rudy, and also, I think he’s gorgeous. In the Army, there were several guys I thought had pretty faces lol
Honestly this. This represents the series and mood better than any highlight reel or trailer, and is truest to the general idea behind the series. There are so many clips they could've pulled, be it action, or the numerous golden lines between characters or whatever But instead it shows the strangely tame reality of it. There's intensity and the boys saying comical lines. But this just shows the more normal stuff. It's real, funny, slower than you'd expect from when you hear "warzone", and also contemplative of the situation. When initially seeing a topic or event or story, it's easy to see polar opposite views or hyperbolic opinions, and the truth is usually somewhere in between. I love this show so much and hope I get to see more media that portrays things like war for what it is.
I cant believe all of these " funny moments" vids from gen kill dont have the best part of all. When theyre standing around guessing what the translator says. The one that's always saying " dude"
@@LogieT2K "Meesh, i just shit my panties! tell the nice man, if he doesn't show us a blown up tank, i'll look really stupid and the other officers will laugh at me"

Except for Rudy (who was incidentally my section leaders cousin), I could name someone from the show who was exactly like someone from my company I survived with during my time with the world renowned Bravo Company Raiders of the 1st Battalion 1st Marine Regiment (2008-2011). We weren’t Recon, but we were Marines and Corpsmen!
Missed the part when they were trying out their M.O.P.P. suits Q-tip: Are those drawers? Rolling Stone: Boxers... Q-tip: Yo, its gon' get hot, man. Me, shit, I'm free-balling it all the way to Baghdad Someone in the background, probably Trombley: Good thing I shaved my balls....
I thought Band of Brothers was a realistic portrayal of war, until I saw this and realized it's actually a propagandistic piece of patriotic jerk off material. You should read Stephen Ambrose's book. He describes easy company in a way that is much closer to the vibes in Generation Kill than what ended up in Band of Brothers. Take the portrayal of Lt. Spiers for example. There are credible allegations that he murdered captured prisoners, which is a war crime. But in the end of the series, he gives that speech about how a roman centurion had to create rumors that he killed prisoners to make the legionaries fall in line, and that's where the issue is left. That character arc is essentially the justification of a war crime. Now contrast that with the much harsher, non-narrativized portrayal of Trombley shooting civilians in GK. That was a shade closer to reality and didn't try to simplify the maddeningly conflicting emotions and situations that war actually creates. Trombley, who is just as sadistic as Spiers, shot two civilians that were clearly unarmed, and everyone knows it. But he is ultimately not punished because Godfather declared the area around the airfield a free-fire zone, meaning Trombley's decision to murder did not actually break the rules of engagement. Hollywood shouldn't ever try to simplify atrocities, justify them, or minimize them... and Band of Brothers does all three. Are we to believe that Easy company never accidentally shot civilians? Never had rounds go astray in populated areas? Are we to believe that Lt. Spier's actions are excusable? I don't think so.
@@tyrionlannister4563 I’d argue America’s Is portrayed great in Band Brothers due to the scenes of Allied country’s killing prisoner of wars. You do have to realize that they were behind enemy lines and couldn’t afford to take prisoners as it would have made them vulnerable.
about 2/3rds of my explanations at work I got from this show, like for example lack of batteries and equipment I just use a few lines but yeah The Marines are ultimate Bad Ass's
Good thing there weren't any women in the military there.... There wouldn't have been half the fun... Can't even say, 'darn it' or 'double heck' with women in the military
I'm missing one of the best ones:
"Hey Garza, I thought you were mexican!"
"I am!"
"Then why aren't you loud and stealing my shit!?"
*Leon, not Garza

That guy is also a real marine who did some of the interviews that became this series. He plays himself.

Nothing beats Band of Brothers, but I would say this better than The Pacific, all of them are fantastic though.
