Isner Serve vs WTA Players!

- John Isner has has one of the fastest and best ever serves in tennis. He takes on 2 players from the WTA Tour, Eugenie Bouchard and Agnieszka Radwanska, playing mixed doubles with Serena Williams in the Hopman Cup in 2015. Can the ladies return the monster Isner serve that even ATP players struggle to get back in play?
#isner #serve #hopman - Sport
the angles he serves at are nothing short of insane.
That's because he's tall.
@@MrSatchelpack not just because of that.
Height+skill=insane serve
@@MrSatchelpack he also has crazy accuracy when he hits doen the middle
It’s a combination of a beautifully fluid, efficient, technically near perfect motion, a, what, 6’8” starting point, added to a nice high ball toss hit at full extension, which puts his contact point at, just a guess, 15-18’ above the court. That, in effect, lowers the net (as compared to a shorter player trying the same angle) allowing Isner to hit an angle with the ball moving down without fear of hitting the net. Think of it like this: freeze Isner’s toss at its full height. Give the ball eyes at that moment. The court/angles/service box Isner’s ball can see is a very different view than other players’ toss at the same instant for them. The angles available from there are just logical. What makes them “freaky” is returners don’t see those angles from anyone else.
It’s really the same concept as a wickedly angled volley hit on or behind the T is just a standard volley hit right on top of the net. Different angles are available at different locations on the same court.
I mean to be fair he destroys the best atp players with his serve too.
No the best players no like Novak Djokovic and tsisipas or Nadal
@Avinash Anand who do you think that could be won a match between Isner and Opelka ?
@Avinash Anand it is hard both depends of his first service and have a good head, but I think that Isner it is more consistent
@Avinash Anand He’s obviously slowing it down. Never liked Isner, but saying he should hang up his racket because a woman could return his toned down serve is stupid. Besides, there’s still a lot of money to be made for a top 50 player. From sponsorships and prize money.
@@rafaelalbertoalvarezbustam5951 Yes, the best players like Nadal, Federer and Djokovic are destroyed by his serve as well. When Isner is serving, there's rarely a break.
Imagine trying to return his kick serve on club courts. You’d be running into a fence/invading other courts all the time lol
all the way to North Pole )))))

To be fair. If you ask 10 ATP players who has the best serve, 9/10 will say it's Isner. the 10th may name someone else, but probably only cause its Isner himself trying to be humble
Either Isner or Karlovic
Opelka entered the chat
Karlovic was slightly better a few years back but he's semi-retired now
Zverev: "I'll put myself in there"
@@pabkids8421 At least my second serve.
Radwanska has an amazing serve return. She started to get dialed in as the match went on.
True radwanska was better returning than genie
You just want to show women can't play good.they are also good players,if she is returnig good you should appreciate her instead of finding points to show women can't beat men
They can, but in most sports males are massively advantaged. Testosteron. No uterus, no milk glams, lower natural fat percentage (no need to carry a baby for 9 months). Stronger bones, muscles, more muscles, more length. All on average ofcourse. So for an average woman to beat an average man she must be a lot better at the sport. Or a lot fitter. Or both. And many women are, it is just not an equal playing field. Very interesting to see this (for one time) Especially against the first woman. She was almost chanceless. Even on this, the highest level. But Isner is Ofcourse a serve wonder.
@@ytwos1 Yeah in this case, they didnt show the best returner vs Isner, they showed a good player vs arguably the best server. Though no doubt he would still completely win, it isnt the most fair comparison.
@@mysteriousinsaan8208 no need to find a point when it's obvious.
Despite all of Isner’s effort, Radwanska and Janowicz won the Hopman Cup against Isner/Williams. Sometimes power is not enough to win. I miss watching Radwanska play, she has such great instincts on court despite not having a powerful game. I like watching variety and intelligent play rather than punching the ball from one side to the other, it seems tennis is moving in this direction. Not to take away from Isner who has played some great net points over the years and whom I respect a lot.
Let’s not forget Janowicz is 6’8 and regularly served above 150mph, though he definitely had a more well-rounded game than Isner. Shame he got injured, I hope he makes it back.
@master man oh so isner lost on purpose, well that changes everything
@master man how can it be 6-0 6-0 if he serves fast when he dosen't serve every game 😂😂😂
@master man 0 brain moment
@master man you fucking dud 😂
She must think all WTA first serves are suddenly so slow after this
Yeah it’s like if a WTA player constantly practiced against ATP servers they would become amazing returners when playing in official professional matches.
@@Jamsome59 they do! All of their hitting partners are male

I love Aga 😍😍 one of my favourite players ever..sad to see her be so close to getting to world number 1 and also winning a slam but not achieving it.. she's still extremely successful so only good memories
Radwanska = Inspirational. Forever.
Radwanska was so clever here. If you can return it, you should predict it as a penalty in football
in doubles it's just a whole nother level with how wide he is out there
The second girl actually did a good job considering that this is one of the best atp serves
The best according to most players

@@tamasalex8382 Iga already a grandsalm champ :)
the thing is when isner serves, a lot of atp players stand quite back which isn't something wta players are used to. standing so near the baseline to return an isner serve is near impossible.
But this gives them a chance of hitting the ball. If they stood further back they'd have zero chance.
that is the most relaxing tennis video ever
I’m actually impressed that they got some of those returns back.
I miss hopman cup so much!!
He has a lot top spin in his serve it just amazing to watch
so fast that the video lagged
4:01 in 0.5 speed = AYOOOOO
If I needed someone to win a service game to save my life . . . Roger Federer. Not the absolute best serve but for a normal height guy who has to rely on nothing but pure talent he is overall the best IMO. Placement, consistency, clutch, second serve high quality, and can follow it up with a quick forehand put away every damn time if you don't hit a great return. Sampras was right there too. Kyrgios is from another planet altogether but just too inconsistent, but his serve is terrifying when it is on.
Sampras definitely would be the guy to win a service game. I’d pick Federer or Djokovic to win a random match, but a service game Sampras was the best ever. He had power, location, and put away ground strokes to win those weak service returns.
@@harveydodd8803 I would not complain if Sampras stepped up to win my service game instead! Almost 50/50 these two legends. I think his two serves were best ever (not counting the skyscraper bots who can ONLY serve) but I still like my chances with peak RF winning the game.
@@bigalexg fed is 6 feet. That's not normal height. World average for male is 5'8''. For us 5'9'' for most of Europe 5'10''
@@harveydodd8803 fed is 6 feet. World average is 5'8'' . Us average is 5'9'' . Europe average is 5'10''
@@rishbahpandey8697 I thought he was 6' 1". Which, from what I can find, is exactly the average height of top players. So no, of course not average for gen pop, but very average among elite pro male tennis players. The taller players have a big advantage on the serve because of the angle they achieve from the higher contact point, not to mention the leverage from longer arms. So Fed and Sampras both are achieving incredible serving efficiency without the relative advantage of being taller than the other players. I suppose I should have qualified this but it would be obvious to anyone who follows the game closely.
Aga did much better than Bouchard
Aga is definitely top 2 ranked player the way this shows
If Radwańska gets more power in her arms, that would be a fire. Look how fast and well anticpated she is... comparig to the one before.
agreed... the one before has poor prediction. Aga knows where Isner is going almost 80% of the time, just that she's physically incapable of returning the serve.
Big John is insane 🔥
0:34 legends say she is still following the ball.
at least radwanska was able to get her racquet on the ball lol
Isner is like in the top 10 Best Servers of all time, so it doesn't matter if you're male or female you're gonna have a HARD Time returning that Bomb! ✌🙃💣
I’d be really interested to hear 9 better servers than isner 😆
Karlovic, Opelka, Sampras, Federer, Becker, Lendl, Ivanisevic, and McEnroe
Some of these names may sound a bit unfamiliar to you, but apart from Karolovic and Opelka they are all multiple Slam winners. For many of them their serve has been their most used weapon during their career!
Don‘t get me wrong, Isner is a great server and certainly among the best in history. However, we haven’t seen him serving under the pressure of a grand slam final. In the Elite Tennis Professional level everybody is able to hit great serves, but the main issue is copying with the pressure of delivering when it matters the most!
As long as Isner has not managed to reach a final of a slam I would not call him the greatest server of all time. Still he is probably among the top three in terms of raw ability to hit aces and unreturned serves.
The only server I would always prefer against him is Karlovic, since his placement is better and he has better mental strength.
@@maximilianschulz4534 Ya forgot Roddick in the list.
@@-music2023 Have to agree with music 2022 on this one. Isner comes up with big serves at big moments, which is why he was able to finish top 20 for ten consecutive years. Another indicator would be that in all of Karlovic's highest ace performances, he lost the matches. Lastly, if you consider 2nd serves, John pulls ahead further. Nothing against Ivo, I like him quite a bit.
@@vono2000 roddick opelka karlovic and the great sampras and federer
Can’t wait til there’s a 9 foot tennis player. And isner can’t return one of his serves.
What is that music called which you used? Thank you😍
This is just silliness to me. How has tennis become like this? 😂
Aga wasn’t bad at all!
This is why Venus and Serena where both beat back to back handily by a male player ranked 218 in the world. (Karsten Braasch) The men's game is on a different level.
I wonder how effective training would be for WTA players to practice returning men's serves?
Isner/Serena might be the greatest serving mixed doubles combination ever in Tennis tbh 😂😂🔥 most of the time opponents are like just walking across the ends! 😂
3:34 must have been satisfying! getting a clean return on a ball that's probably 20-30 mph faster than any serve she ever faced on the wta
must be awesome to be tall lol meanwhile I struggle to even get it over the net at 5'5"
Radwanska s'en sort très bien alors que Bouchard est complètement dépassée par les kickés
The quality on this video is a bit laggy
He does this to the best men players too!!
If you want to serve like Isner just bring a ladder out to the court and stand on the service line
He showed no mercy to those ladies lol
Atp players itself find it difficult to return his serves how can you expect anything from wta???

Nice sport.
Bouchard needed a good beat down. Thank you Isner.
What can we say, hes giant tho, his serve just like thunder
Poor Bouchard :D
3:30 lmao, typical when someone returns his serve!
the strength becomes weakness here. his height gives him advantage to serve big but if someone manages to return it low then he finds hard to bend down and reach to the ball.
I think in an official match just Federer return more than 5 Isner's servers Nadal, Djokovic, Tsitsipas, etc, couldn't return almost anyone so WTA players aren't kidding
Agnieszka Radwanska, she looks better against Isner's serves than some ATP players...
3:41, when you get past Isner and Serena is waiting for you…😐

Isner,Opelka,Querrey thunder serve
And the winner prizes are same.
thats bullying😂
Just like they separate the men, women, and seniors into their respective league, one day they should have a "freak" league for those having an unbalanced height advantage!
Too bad for Genie 😂😂
She looked so dejected at the end of that. I’m not a fan at all of hers but I felt truly bad for her there.
Anderson and Raonic also
What's the point?
What was Genie doing two feet behind the baseline? Nadal doesn’t return Isner there!!!
His serve sounds like a small caliber handgun.
the man is 6’10
What brand of potato was this recorded with?
I mean he is 6’10 while they’re like 5’10 max
Bouchard xinh đẹp tuyệt trần
She needs to stand further back next to the linesman.
There's an easy fix for mix doubles. Whenever a woman is returning a man's serve, instead of the man getting two chances to serve, the woman should get two chances to return.
Why is she trying to return from the baseline!?
its too BIGGG!!! for genei
Just to get a racquet on some of these serves is good going.
Radwanska playing cricket. 😂
John is nothing without the serve
Volley is ok too. But look how many serve wonders we have left. Only him. Respect him for that, quite an accomplishment. Pretty soon we will only have all round power hitters. Which is fine. Possibly even better. But in the meantime we have seen these serves as well.
*Cries in equal pay*
Os et est trop fort pour moi c service
When I think it meets biology.
This is what happens, young lady, when you refuse an invitation to dinner from Isner.....
8.000 ace... What a player! 👍🏻 (Scherzavo, fa cagare)
why not stand further back? Genie standing just behind the baseline. Even Nadal stands 5m back
Yeah... even Aga stood so far back
Well this is just straight up bullying
Isner's serves may make the ball blow your skirts, so be careful lady opponents.😂😂
It is literally the single-handedly,most unfair, legal thing I've seen in sport to let this man Isner serve in mixed. Then his partner is Serena.😂
As a Malaysian, this video should be the perfect example to the American public on why trans women should not compete in women sports category of all fields that has to do with its own physical strength. Is it not that obvious??
Untouched. Where is Billie Jean?
Outta sight lol
The game needs to be reformed ; it shouldn't be so easy to be able to win just on serve like that
And it isn’t. In fact, isner, a freak of nature, is the last of the serve and volley hitters, none left. Very difficult to achieve.
Well, that’s why you need to break serve
And this is why there are separate tours.
What a massacre🤣
Still many ATP players could return, break, and beat him.
There is no comparison between ATP serve speeds and WTA serve speeds. It's like, Novak Djokovic could try a couple of months on the WTA, but he would win absolutely every tournament meanwhile dominating all of his opponents. Top 20 Female players, can't even compete with top 300-500 male players. It just has to do with size, strength, and separation of talent at the professional level when it comes to gender. Same thing with basketball, same thing with hockey, or football, or soccer, or any sport.
Maybe women have a chance in gymnastics or mind games like chess
@@dewman7477 Not even chess I am afraid
A HO Eeeeeeee
Even Federer couldn't return that by the way.
Ya, right. Have you ever seen Fed vs Isner?

Bouchard didn't do anything about it -.- she should've at least go few steps back and to the middle
200 kph... really... are ya going to sit there a tell me a guy that serves 145 mph is actually trying at that speed. What is hitting left handed?
The feminists in tennis who wants equal pay, come and stand as Isner's opponents please. But, be careful his serve may blow your skirts 😂
Nothing special. Entire video he scored points against women. Just height advantage during serve. And also they lost game in 2nd half of video.
Not just height advantage..

At least she has a chance of making contact by doing that
