    That's most helpful, thank you. 😊 We get our Yaris Cross on Monday so looking forward to tying this out!

    Thank you Sir! I’ve always wondered about this feature and never truly understood how to use it

    I use "Hold" a lot. It just seems to make more sense to me. Of course, you can simply turn it off when you need to inch forward into a parking space, for example.

      @paul_nwsxs  Před rokem +2

      It was only an experiment to see if it worked in reverse as I’d never tried it
      Yes it’s a very useful function when in busy traffic
      It’s not a function I use much as I’m living in a rural area where a traffic jam is sheep on the road

    Is using “hold” the setting to use when you’re stuck in traffic on the dual carriage way?

    • @paul_nwsxs
      @paul_nwsxs  Před 5 měsíci +2

      You can use it at traffic lights, on hills, in heavy traffic on the motorway or dual carriageway
      Just experiment with it to find where it works best for you

    Hello, sorry if this is a silly question, but why have a hold function if you have a hand brake ?

    • @paul_nwsxs
      @paul_nwsxs  Před rokem

      It’s a system that’s totally integrated into the hybrid system, you can think of as a hill start assistant but the system does a lot more than that, it’s basically a system that allows you to leave the car in drive and when you stop it’s automatically activated the parking brake with no need to arm the hard brake manually
      As soon as you touch the throttle it releases the brakes and off you go till the next time you stop and the system goes through it process again

      @@paul_nwsxs thanks for the replies, but if the handbrake is automatic why would you need to use the hold ?

    • @paul_nwsxs
      @paul_nwsxs  Před rokem

      in normal operation the parking brake will only automatically applied when the car is placed into park , it,s a way of bypassing having to stop you continually putting into park when in stop start traffic or waiting at a junction

    Hi, I'm interested in an honest opinion about the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, if there are any breakdowns. What is the fuel consumption smooth ride.

    • @paul_nwsxs
      @paul_nwsxs  Před rokem +1

      The Yaris hybrid is the best of the super mini class fitted with a hybrid system
      Break downs none existent
      Fuel consumption varies from driver to driver and the terrain being driven
      The 16 inch wheel variety drives the smoothest
      17 inch wheel variant slightly harder but not harsher

      @@paul_nwsxs thanks. I was just wondering. For downhill roads, they advised using B mode. Most Dsg have modes for uphill gradients.

    Do you know how far the car will go in EV mode? I notice you have that button.

    • @paul_nwsxs
      @paul_nwsxs  Před rokem +2

      It’s very terrain dependent, if you’re commuting in a town or city and it’s relatively flat you’ll get a decent chance of doing a decent amount of your journey, I know I can get from where I live to a town called Abergele about 3.5 miles on pure ev except 1 hill climb out of llandulas , but I don’t arm the ev button I do the trip by modulating my inputs on the throttle pedal in the normal hybrid mode and it’s capable of 60mph in ev driving
      Hopefully this helps
      Hybrids are not about pure ev only distance it’s the way they combine the ev and the internal combustion engine to produce the amazing economy they are capable of
      Thanks for taking the time to watch the videos

      @@paul_nwsxs thanks for the info, I’m thinking of dropping my kid to school which is like 700m away so it would be nice to be able to do that without having the fire up the engine. Mainly thing to avoid wear and tear for the short trip.
