Here is a few other tips that have been dropped in the comments section that I would like to add!!
Josh M said - "if you save the swiss file as autoexec.dol the action replay menu will be skipped and it will boot straight into swiss. Saves you having to tell it to launch swiss, and is a lot faster."
Extrems said - "Only the Speed Running Version has better latency as compared to the Nintendo original disc"
Also if you're having trouble getting the SD card working try formatting to FAT or FAT16
I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving has a great holiday!
Sweet got this working easily. Greatly appreciated
Can PLZ you make a video for NES(FCEUltraGX) as I keep getting an FDS Bios isnt found error and ive never had that happen using FCEUltraGX with other consoles. Maybe a how to for Sega and TG16 as well ;)
Just modded my cube with a GC-Loader in place of the disc drive since it no longer reads game disk so now Im looking for how to's with emulation apps for it lol
Thanks for all the help
Dude, I loved it when you put the GBA flashcart in. You had an SD card in your memory card slot, an SD card in your flash cart, and an SD card in the serial port. You’re a madman.
Haha you're so right I didnt even think about that... what is wrong with me 😂😂😂
@@RockerGaming lol true madness!
@@RockerGaming Does the action replay gamecube disc also have inside swiss or do I have to download that separately ?
Dude! You can't imagine how many videos I watched to understand the NGC Scene, none of them is simple, complete and straight to the point as yours! INSTANT SUB!
Please tell me what I’m doing wrong I can’t find a .dol file on the link he included and it’s driving me nuts
Thanks a lot for this! The GameCube was my childhood console and I still own it but as time passed the games became too worn down to be played, I can’t wait to play wind waker again
Super cool video! It is always good to have Swiss tutorial around, I often run into troubles when its been a while I haven't update it 😊
thank you and I agree there are virtually no videos out there that outline the process so it was necessary to make one for sure!!
Awesome tutorial! I've been saying for a while that I need to get a GC back and this tutorial is making want it more lol! Great video and keep up the good work!
You totally should they are so cheap these days it worth it IMO!
Roaming Dan get a Wii and you’ll be able to have the Wii and everything before it
Once I get done with my back log of work, I'm totally doin this! Thanks for the tut!
No problem dude best of luck with it!
Mate, you may have convinced me to homebrew this :O
Just got the Datel Action Replay and was dissapointed I couldn't add codes.
But the memory card sd chip and the thing that can be plugged in, seem really awesome!
Also, my family likes to play the games, but the lil kids sometimes damage the cd's, so a rip is just amazing the best solution to keep everything safe and sound :D
My action replay won’t show me what’s on the sd card. What am I doing wrong? It only shows a list of cheats.
Great video, simple and clear (understandable) explanation :)
Thank you.
I appreciate that and thank you!!
We are still living in 2020 and this guy is living and making videos in 2075
For anyone having trouble getting the AR to read the SD card, I reformatted the SD card to just FAT instead of FAT 32 and had it inserted into slot B w/ the SDloader file on it, w/ the DOL file loaded in a folder labled "swiss" and then I got it to work. I also reccomend learning to force games into 480p if you have a GCHD or component cable you want to get the most out of.
This saved my hair from getting pulled out, thank you sooooo much!
@@nathanielcann8102 np, i'm just happy ppl still care about the gamecube instead of just playing everything on the Wii or Dolphin

Dude you are a life saver. Do you have anymore tips? Do I need the GC xeno mod chip in order to use the sd2sp2? Do I need the mod chip inorder for that to work? Thanks any help is very much appreciated.
@@DaVidKid1877 Yes, as the video describes you need to either get the mod chip OR the action REPLAY... and here's a hint right now on eBay they're going for 30 SHIPPED NEW! 👀 I just picked up a brand new one direct from datel, who makes them!
Thanks for the protip on the checksum dat file, bud.

Thank you for this video it explains the GameCube modding facts i meeded
Boom glad to hear it!
Nice tutorial was definitely wondering about what GC homebrew looked like. I'd say another advantage to using a GC rather then a Wii is just the fact your using all original hardware something has to be said for that alone,
That's an extremely good point! Homebrew is still a ways behind the OG xbox but there is still a lot to experience here! Speaking of, what are cooking up 😁
Dope video as always my man. Keep your shit up and i bet this channel will blow up. :D
Brandon, much appreciated my dude! Will keep it up 100%!!!
That's some nice information gamecube is amazing good video 👍
Thanks dude! I agree, the GC is still awesome to this day 🙌
Like the new intro 👍🏼
Thanks dude, I am a big fan of it! Alex did an awesome job on it!!
RockerGaming what Alex?
Hi, I love your videos, very helpful!
I just have a small problem with loading speed from the SD2SP2, loading times are definitly slower than from discs. I currently have my 200gb class10 Sandisk card formatted to exFAT, but you mention FAT32 in your video, does it have better compatibility with Swiss?
Hi ! Excellent video ! If I use ISOs of the games via Swiss as described, can I still use the saves from my original Memory Cards ? Thanks.
I am one of those souls sho never traied to install the chip on the gamecube for fear of breaking it. but seeing the action replay method is quite easy i might try it soon
I'm confused, so to clarify, if you purchase a sd2sp2 and install Swiss on there, does that mean you can also install your .iso's on there as well? I'm only asking because I've seen videos of people launching Swiss and having their .iso files all on a 128 GB micro sd?
Does Swiss work with forcing resolutions on the Wii games too?
What’s the bloody tears remix? I want to know as it was great. All I see is some vampire killer remix in the description. Either way, thanks a ton for the help!
That is the one! I agree great song. Here is a direct link Rymdkraft - Vampire Killer Remix - soundcloud.com/rymdkraft/castlevania-vampire-killer-rymdkraft-remix
I noticed you have a swiss_patches folder. What kind of patches are there and where would I go to get them?
Just an FYI for anyone trying to do this: as of February 2021, the Action Replay discs are very scarce AND expensive. I haven't been able to find any on Amazon, and the only ones I've found on eBay are over $100. So just be aware that you might run into some disappointment. I was under the impression that this method was cheap, but boy was I wrong.
I got one before pandemic
i ordered the european disc from gamejunkies, they still have a few left but to load it on an american gamecube you need to byt the freeloader, both the disc together are around 40$, saves you alot of money
@@somemong8349 So the freeloader doesn't work for this? I have to buy the European and load it with the freeloader for it to see the sd card? What a load of crock. All I wanted was to be able to play my gba games on tv via GC, Guess ill just go buy a pre made memory card and game that works with it.
I needed to see this video! I have wanted to reboot my gamecube for so long, I miss my favorite console. Do you per chance modify people’s consoles if they send them in to you? I am so lost with this kind of stuff and don’t think I have the soldering experience to do this myself. Anyways great video!
Thank you! I dont take commissions, but what I would recommend the method used in this video as itll allow you to play back-ups and homebrew with no soldering required!
Hey, I got a question regarding cleanrip, if I'm using a action replay to launch Swiss and then lanching cleanrip can I then just remove the action replay disc from the disc drive to rip a game?
So I forced a game to run at 480p with Swiss, but when it came to loading a save, the game tells me there’s no memory card in slot A (It’s a game that doesn’t support slot B) when there actually is (the game is running from the original disc and the sd card with Swiss is in slot B, and this is on Wii). Do you know anything that could help me?
A difficult Homebrew that I am having trouble with is ISO games, such as Neo Geo Cd. I see setups online on how to set it up, but they are all tailored for the Wii System and is a completely different setup. Do I need to extract zip folders of each ISO, do I need to separate and convert music to mp3 in a separate folder, how do I put folder and do I need to put the BIOS in the same folder? I know it is a difficult and specific request, but there is hardly any information on the internet about it's Homebrew setup for Gamecube fans like us.
Hello, need some urgent advice if possible! Do rvz files play on a modded gamecube using this method? Or will they need converting? Thanks
So do I need the action replay if I buy the sdcard and memory cards to read swiss?
What is the best controller to play the emulated snes games I would imagine the gamecube controller being pretty bad with the small D-Pad?
Hey any chance you can provide a simple guide to my issue? I have a SD2SP2 and a 64GB MicroSD. My gamecube is running Cobra 1.2 via Viper GC mod. How do I initialize the SD card to work with the gamecube and I have a Swiss boot disc would that help?
does the 32 GB sd card at the bottom of the gamecube require swiss to be downloaded on it or just the ISOs?
I'm trying to use cleanrip, but it keeps freezing on the screen that says "remember settings?" When I choose either yes or no, and on multiple SD cards. Any ideas on what's going wrong?
Super noob question..do I have to have a GC memory card to create save game files using this method? Is there no way to save to the sd2sp2 or SD card (inserted in the SD media player)?
I love your channel do you think you could do some Wii mods like shells and led lighting?
Bradley, much appreciated! One of these days I will get to the Wii, I have been meaning to get to it for a while now and been holding out... I have a couple mods, including leds I would love to do!
Do you think you could change the slot light I have seen a couple videos on CZcams people doing it
Great video. I think a F zero GX Gamecube Controller is in your future.
That would be very cool!!! Its such a great game!
So do you have to keep using the action replay disc to run Swiss everytime?
Do you need to boot action replay every time, or is there a way to boot from the memory card like with free mcboot?
Ok, I've had an SD2SP2 for a while now and it is amazing, I've been able to experience games for the first time that I never even thought about (I had always preferred PlayStation) but I have s question, if I wanted to run GB/GBA games do I absolutely need a GBPlayer? Or are there emulators that allow me to run the roms directly? Worth noting that my GC is physically unmodded, apart from the SD2SP2
There are gba emulators but they dont run off the sd2sp2 (or at least didnt when i last checked). You will need one of these www.etsy.com/listing/850779531/sdgekko-for-gamecube-memory-card-to-sd
For the gba emulator here is a link www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.php?title=Enhanced_mGBA
@@RockerGaming Thanks! I'll look into it
I'm learning so much from your videos, thank you. I just want to quickly ask whether the approx. 20 min to clean rip a game wears the drive out more than the equivalent of the drive reading and playing a game for 20min?
Glad to hear it and thank you for watching and commenting with great comments! I would say 20 mins of 100% clean rip does more "wear" than normal game play. Reason being is the dvd drive is attempting to read as fast as the spi bus can handle over that entire period of time whereas if you're playing a game there could be minimal amounts of loading necessary. Having said all that, these lasers are typically rated for 5k to 15k hours. I cant say I know what the GC drive is rated for but it's made by Philip's which is pretty good quality, so I'd take the 10k range
@@RockerGaming @@RockerGaming Thank you again for being really helpful to get back to another question of mine dude. Sorry to ask so many too! That's great to know, both about the drive activity when ripping games and the rated shelf life of the drive itself. Would quickly love to also ask if you know any other ways to rip ones GC games, like for the ppl who do the internal mod and no longer have a gamecube drive to rip them?
Yep, wii or I'd look to download some online. Either would be a good option!
Is the actual AR disc a requirement, or will a burned copy work as well?
I'm guessing if the "An error has occurred." message pops up after you boot the DOL file, it's not compatible with Swiss? I'm trying to play WWE Day of Reckoning 2.
I’m still just gonna use my Wii to do all my Gamecube needs, but still very cool, nonetheless. :)
Are there any cool original homebrew games for the GameCube like there are a lot of older consoles?
These tend to be one of my favorite aspects of homebrew.
Also, I really like the idea of playing GC games from an SD card, because some games are really rare and expensive, or can be patched to play better or fix glitches. I also like that there are emulators, because that expands the library while allowing you to play on one console. It's just really convenient.
Great comment, I will let others chime in on original games, but I 100% agree with you on the SD card. It also is great for preservation of your laser which is always a good thing!
Does Swiss read multi disk games like Killer 7? Im just getting into homebrew
Amazing video! Worked perfectly. One question though is there a way to save files to the SD card, or will I need an actual GC Memory card?
Glad to hear it worked! You will still need a GC memory card unfortunately
@@RockerGaming Gotcha! Thank you!
One question, can you just load downloaded GC roms with the SD2SP2 via Swiss?
Can you replace the action replay disc with another game disc within swiss ? To get 480p with PAL games
What are you using for video output?, my GC spits a very low quality image with the original RCA cables.
I'm using this: highly recommended it! czcams.com/video/3qUTkYimVio/video.html
I want to play games from the original CDs but want to force them into NTSC mode. Is there a way to do this using Swiss?
Question, should the SD Card always be in Slot A, or can it be in Slot B instead?
Can you play all gamecube games right away or need to download them from over a pc first.
Hi,.i bought the card adapter and disk, downloaded the files but I used my Android tablet, not a PC or lap top. The GameCube shows, object in slot one can't be used! it just scrolls fast down to the bottom of the list and that's it. Any ideas? Thanks?
So this is very unrelated to your video. But I've previously modded my Nintendo switch pro controller, and was considering wiring up some LEDs bc I think that would be pretty sick. I was going to pretty much approach it the same way as you would a GameCube controller but I didn't know if there would be enough space... Thoughts?
There is room for sure, a purpose built PCB might be the best idea though.
Is it possible to burn action replay ISO onto a mini dvd-r and use this as a way to access swiss?
my action replay disc doesn't recognize the 2GB SD card OR the SD to memory card adapter. They're the same ones you have linked in the video, and I've done this many times to no success.
Did you put it in the B port?
Awesome video! One question - why is the date on your GCN set to 12/22/2075?
haha, I have no idea, I likely need to update that :)
RockerGaming and here I was thinking there’s something secretive about it! Glad you made this. I had an Action Replay but someone told me that you need to have a specific version of it and I don’t have the one they said I would need. I just bought one of your SD serial adapters from Etsy and also got a XenoGC. I ended up ordering the XenoGC through Amazon. The ones on eBay looked like they were made using counterfeit chips as opposed to a legit Amtel chip. They were still only $8.75 with free shipping via Prime.
@@JeffHochberg I appreciate it dude! The entire process seems very secretive to me and there is not a good resource out there for this stuff so I said what the heck and made it! Nothing wrong with that, I personally like the xeno method as it just makes for a more seamless operation, at least in my opinion.
Is a action replay memory card useless or is there a way to this with that as well I have one and was wondering I cant find anything online about it? Edit I dont have the disc that came with it so I'm guessing its useless I saw someone that had the disc but no memory card and it was useless
You missed Snes9x RX, which is a performance-oriented emulator fork of the one you showed. RX is smoother for those heavy SNES games with extra processing chips, specially since the Gamecube is more power-limited than a Wii. You should do an emulators focused video!
I really appreciate you turning me on to that, let me know if you have any other emulators you would like me to take a look at. I have added SNES9x RX to the list!
Great video! Not sure if the SD2SP2 is more reliable than a SD card in one of the memory card slots, but I've found launching games from the memory card slot to be hit-and-miss; random freezing and/or crashing (e.g. Ikaruga). Not sure if it's a SD card issue, the game, etc.
I tried ikaruga, no luck unfortunately
@@RockerGaming This game depends on streaming audio to function properly, so you need to use the old read patches.
@@ExtremsCorner Good to know! Thank you for dropping mad knowledge around here. @coderkind - Extrems is one of the dev's of Swiss, he knows what he is talking about on this one :)
How do you get such a Clear and crisp image?? I play on an HDTV with regular Red, white yellow cables and picture quality is not that good. thanks !
I would recommend a carby, it uses the digital out port to output digital video via hdmi to your TV. It looks really great!
I just bought the Media Launcher and Sd card reader from Datel's site.
It came with a Micro SD card read, so now I'm trying to find a Micro Sd card that'll work. I had two 4 gigs... and neither are being detected even though their site says they accept up to 4GB.
Hello, so i want help, i want to do this without soldering since i dont have the experience nor want to risk messing anything up, any advice?
I have a question can I just burn games on to a blank small disk with imgburn plus of course the sd media launcher and then just put it in instead or do I have to put everything on the Swiss? (New to this a bit confused)
I would go the swiss route, there is a way where you could do what you're saying, but it would be a bit more difficult.
What's the biggest size SD card supported by the adapter?
Yo, I know you said you need a 2GB or less fat16/32 SD in the gecko mem slot, but do you know if a larger SD diskparted as a 2GB would work?
It would not unfortunately ☠
1:11 - No, it's not.
You can boot to swiss with a save transferred from a Wii onto a GC memory card and a copy of a game with an exploit.
I use Wind Waker, but there is a list of exploitable games online.
I said "no it's not", because it is quite likely you already have a compatible game like SSBM and a Wii laying around.
Also - no need for soldering.
fair enough, likely a poor assumption on my part, but I didnt want to take for granted someone had a wii. I still think a xeno is uber easy to do, but I am pretty handy with a soldering iron, but this is a good comment and gives folks a bit more detail about the one method I didnt give much air time to in the video!
RockerGaming Sorry if I sounded too harsh, btw. It's just that, I found this method on a whim, by sheer luck on CZcams and is a method barely anyone seems to talk about.
I mean, Action Replays, at least where I am, are rather expensive and mini DVD's are so hard and expensive to get (I mean, I tried before I found the Wind Waker plus Wii method).
Cheers.
@@shocknawe Let there be no doubt the mini DVDs will quickly become the problem. There are becoming incredibly difficult to find these days... at least the good one! No need to apologize homie, your comment is valid and means at some point I should likely do a follow-up video with that method detailed out!
I use action replay disc
RockerGaming I would really like to see that follow up on how to set it up using Wind Waker. I have lots of time now...being MI is on lock down. I have everything Wind Waker, SD2SP2, softmod Wii, GC memory cards, 2GB SD card, 128GB SDHC card, GC memory card reader, and some free time. I just can’t find a good video on what to do.
I miss work so much
Hi Sir, do you know how to use SD Media Launcher to covert dolphin save files into GameCube Memory Card?
is there a way to make it work with the OG action replay that comes with a memory card . only cause i still have mine . im stumped
Did you do an HDMI mod on that GC? Or are you using aftermarket options? That picture is very clear.
Used this bad boy, works really well! czcams.com/video/3qUTkYimVio/video.html

What type of SD card would you recommend after loading the Swiss program up ?
Rather what is the size range for compatible SD cards for this method ?
Again, thanks for the share !!
swiss and the sd2sp2 support up to 2TB which is just massive. IMO 128gb is more than big enough, but I suppose its all up to you and what you want to put on there :)
@@RockerGaming Wait so I can get a SD card larger that 2GB to run everything ?
I though 2GB was the max size to do this method ?
Do respond, looking into picking up an SD card this week !
@@breaktube sorry yes you will need a 2gb or smaller card to launch swiss, but once in swiss and swapping sd cards you can use up to 2 TBs
@@RockerGaming Thanks Fam' you are the greatest !
One last thing, so this setup let's your gamecube run games from the SD card...does it also save the game data or do you need a gamecube memory card for that ?
I got everything working fine, I just dont understand how to get native saves on my legit memory card and how to do that while using the first slot for the games. I'll have it injected in the second slot but my games aren't even asking for it.
Massa vc e o cara parabéns
quick question, if i were to instal the modchip and burn a disk with swiss, thats all i would need right? like no extra memory card with sd card, im really only interested in the widescreen hack and the gameboy player hack
You got it!
does this work on more than must the first version of the gamecube?]
Does the us Action replay disc work on ntsc japanese consoles
Can i use American Action replay on a JPN gamecube to do this?
Can you elaborate more on how to use CleanRip? Does the format of the SS card matter? I have the sd2sp2, not sure it it matters.
it shouldn't. games are only 1.45GB so the format of the SD card shouldn't matter.
What would be the best sugestion to do if i buy an orange GC from japan to read english game on it?
Is your goal to play original discs too? If so I would install a xeno GC to make the console region free and then i would to a region mod to make the menus in English. It'll also allow for any old game saves you have to work properly.
@@RockerGaming thank you, yes only for originals disc from my collection, just purchased the orange from yahoo yesterday. Not very confortable with solderning though
is there any way to use a 32gb card? cause they send a card with a micro sd slot and i dont have a 2gb micro sd
Can a region free loader disk be used instead of action replay?
Is there a limit to how big of an SD card can be used after you pull out the 2 gig and insert the bigger one? Also will the faster SD cards used for recording 4k videos work?
There is no limit. The Action Replay disc only works with standard SD Cards (to spec they go up to 2 GB, but some 4 GB ones were made) but Swiss works with HC and XC too.
I cannot even find any file in this zip called DOL, labeled DOL or with a DOL at all. A search results in zero when I search for DOL. Please help!
So when I put the disc and Max 88 into the GC and turn it on, the blue highlight bar automatically shoots to the bottom. The d pad doesn't here work and when I use the control stick it fights to go back down, so it takes some patience to land the DOL folder. So, when I get to the point of putting in the SD with the game on it, the big icon of the SD card pops up, I click on it, and it disappears. I've tried a dozen times and now I am just frustrated. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Emuparadise is gone so I got the ISO from Vimm's Liar. On the web site it said the file was nkit.iso. But now that I look at the downloaded file it just ends in nkit. Could that possible be the problem?
I am waiting on swiss to update to get rid of the lag in games I play.
If you have the SD2SP2 mod, then do you have to have the memory card to regular sd card adapter, or can you just use two different as cards. Thanks.
Do you have a modded console or is it stock?
@@RockerGaming What do you do if i have a stock GC?
i used my wii to backup all my games :).
Your missing the broadband adapter method for booting into homebrew and the upcoming GC Loader ODE
Yeah I have never tried that method and figured most dont have the adapter and excluded it. The ODE I am pumped for. I can hardly wait to get my grubby mitts on it!!!
Lot's of good info here! Much has changed since I first got my action replay for gc over 10 years ago haha. Anyone happen to have a copy of the disc for North America? I've lost mine but still have the adapter.
If you have a xeno chip installed, can you just have swiss on a micro sd card via sd2sp2 and set it up to autoboot without using the mc sd media launcher or a disc?
It's not that easy even with a xenogc installed.
When you download swiss you will see a folder that is called ISO. open the folder and copy over the NTSC-U iso file to your desktop. Burn that iso using imgburn to a blank mini DVD-R. Then use that in your GC and you should boot right into swiss.
I was wondering, regarding ripping GameCube games which is better; a GameCube or a Wii, or are they both the same? I’m intending to use the sd2sp2 on a GameCube to play from.
In my experience a wii is faster. If you have both at your disposal that is the route I would take
RockerGaming Thank you 😊, great video btw
Is there a way to get a rom of acting replay for dolfen on pc. If there is no way to do it that is ok.
Hello i put an Action replay disc in with the dol file on the root of sd card and it says please insert action replay hardware into slot B
I have recently obtained a white GameCube for myself and I would like to mod it with some homebrew. So, is there a way to autoboot into a homebrew? Going through AR is not a big inconvenience, but i'd love to skip that if possible. Is there a way to modify the system to just allow it to launch a .dol file directly? This would be very nice to have :)
Yes, you can rename the swiss file to autoexec.dol and it should boot directly into swiss, I forgot to mention that in the video and it was pointed out in the comments! Check the pinned comment as I have it in there. I think I have the file name correct!
So I ordered everything I would need for this and I have one question. Do I still need a Memory card or does it save to the SD Card?
If u want to be able to play your saves u still need a memory card. U just have to swap it over to load/save.
I want to use Swiss to force 480p. I recently purchased a sd media launcher but it hasnt arrived yet. Any chance of a video that shows how to force the resolution.
Paul, I might do another video on the topic. It seems to be popular and I will absolutely cover this topic!
