In The Mood for Alentejo: Part 2 | Costa Vicentina, The Unspoiled Coast of Southwest Portugal

- The Alentejo coast took my breath away. This summer, I went back to the region to create Part 2 of my Alentejo series, featuring Costa Vicentina, a long strip of rough-hewn coastal spectacle that still remains some of the most unspoiled parts of Portugal.
This is the wild, wild west of Europe -- vast rural landscapes that open up to a well-protected natural coast, the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentina Coast, featuring undeniably majestic coastlines, dotted with well-preserved historic towns, charming villages and rustic farmlands, humming in their own quiet beauty.
On this road trip full of freedom, spontaneity and adventure, we explored the places of Carrapateira, Bordeira, Aljezur, Porto Covo, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Sines, and then went inland to the historic town of Santiago do Cacém, the beautiful farmlands of Cercal do Alentejo and then visited the stunning vineyards of Herdade do Cebolal, where we finished off with a remarkable tasting of some of Alentejo's finest wines.

I loved where I was living, up near Peniche, but I truly fell in love with the South-West coast of Portugal 🇵🇹.
I loved the ruggedness of Sagres and drove from there to Sines, following the coastal roads and I was in awe the entire drive. So much so, I did it twice.

Alentejo. One of my favorite parts of Portugal, because it is a litle less touristic, much more simple and authentically Portuguese. Great video, again, a masterpiece. I love how you see my country through your eyes and your camera lens. Beijinhos.

Hi Janz, I love your work. It is so beautiful and well done. I thought you should know that the Costa Vicentina encompasses both Alentejo and the Algarve. Aljezure, Vlilarinha, Carrapateira, and that area are in the Algarve not Alentejo. Keep up the good work!

Going mid November- do u recommend alentejo that time of the year ..? It’s my only time to travel
Absolutely. On November the temperature is still faily warm but not to the same degree as in the peak of summer and yhe vast majority of the days will ne sunny and warm. By all means, travel to Alentejo in November, you will not regreat it..
