    "miles better than Panama"?? IMO Panama has shown that is actually not true, beating USA 2x already in the last two tournament. At worst they are just under the USA, at best Panama can compete with any Concacaf team. I hear this type of erroneous outdated perception all the time. Teams/ Countries grow. Another example is Venezuela. On a side note, Uruguays goal was not a valid goal, but that is not the reason USA did not make it through to the elimination rounds.

      I see your point. however, the USA tend to play their second or third team in the Gold Cup, so I don't really see that as an accurate representation of how both sides match up. Panama are absolutely a good team and have grown as a footballing nation recently, but the US should still be able to beat them no problem, especially with their current generation, EVEN down a man. And for your second point, yes I agree. I made that point in my conclusion

      As Panama is getting spanked by Colombia 😂

      Colombia spanked both Panama and USA, with 10 goals collectively, shows you that Conmebol countries are miles better than Concacaf countries. I would wager that from the mid range and up of Conmebol countries are leaps and bounds better than the top Concacaf countries.

    The U.S. played even with Uruguay and lost on a poor call. The team is fine in terms of talent. Berhalter is a disaster and should have been fired after the World Cup where he chose not to play Reyna, one of our most talented players. Get rid of Gregg and his brother! Let's get a new coach that can strategize, develop the talent, and put the right line-ups on the pitch! The U.S. Soccer Federation should be investigated and gutted for their poor governance and shady operations.

    Considering the almost abhorrent track record of the U.S. in football, losing to Uruguay only 1-0 is a pretty good sign. Either Uruguay is underperforming like never, or you're playing pretty decently, considering that they are the 2nd biggest winners of the entire Copa America.

    What do you think is going to happen to them in the 2026 World Cup they’re going to win it? With all the teams in South America and Europe who really thinks USA is going to lift the FIFA Cup?

    Have you never watched football in your life? Its not that uncommon for a good team to not make it out the group stage. Football in general is a sport where the underdog has a relatively high chance of winning compared to other sports. You not knowing this makes me think youve never been in a sports team in your life because clearly you are unable to understand and sympathize with whats happened, youre just an internet onlooker.

      Not sure why you are commenting that in this context - unless you want to proclaim that the U.S. was a "good team" at this tournament, which would - admittedly - be quite a funny joke.

    of course they can call adventage and still draw a yellow card, who told you you can't? and the goal wasn't offside bc he kicked after the header so the position that counts is when his teamate hits the ball, not in the cross

    • @neotheater
      @neotheater  Před měsícem +2

      It is quite literally in the laws of the game that the ref must stop play, then issue the card. It is possible to receive a yellow card after advantage has been called, but they can never be called simultaneously. Uruguay's "quick restart" was also not even in the right place. it's easy to blow the whistle and call it back. What makes it even worse is him distracting the US defenders while letting Uruguay play on. It's fair to say the guy panicked, but no doubt was it a terrible piece of officiating.
      That's not the reason the goal was given as onside - if you look at the var image shown, only the blue line is visible. This is because they were considered to be "level".Because of this, the benefit of the doubt is given to the attacking player, even if they are fractionally offside. So while you may be correct in the fact that it may be onside, it is not 100% known.

      Why would Uruguay rig a game where they don't win anything. They are already classified for the other round.
      Also Uruguay is 2 steps above USA.
      To be honest the USA losing 1-0 was a decent result.
