I was surprised that the Ninja's more expensive where you are; it's actually a few $100s cheaper than the KTM where I am. It must be since the KTM is manufactured/assembled in India, skipping the import duties levied on the Ninja. Nice drag race; couldn't help notice that the Ninja was pulling an extra ~30kgs in driver weight.

I am a proud owner of super splendor and I love rc390 but I didn't have enough money to buy that beast but one day I will.Any one can buy the bike with money but love and passion towards the bike is different so a perfect rider will not love all the bikes but he had respect .

But it is sad some can't keep them forever for lack of space. I love my 180 and for those who will say paisa nhi tha ya all. That was my first bike with my own salary and that too when 200 was just launched. Also I own ecosport which is petrol and to be honest first car in my whole family and we learnt car driving on that. So in short bigger engines or drag races don't justify bike's capabilities. It is purpose and reliability. For a you tuber 390 can fetch more views but for a traveller Dominar would make more sense

The Duke wins up to around 100kmph and after that the ninja goes away easy. I've tested like this with a friend on a 2018 390 duke vs his ninja 400 both stock. 0-60 the duke wins easy , 0-100 the Duke just edges it , after 100+ he will pull away fast and leave me way behind and can go 190+ whereas duke struggles in top end 160-168. Ninja is a double cyclinder and better aerodynamics as sports bike so it's going to be better top end, but the Duke has good torque and acceleration in 1-4 gears. It all depends in which environment you'll be driving in. In a busy city commute the Duke is fine and has more than enough torque , if you're on highways a lot then you would be better with the extra power in the top end the Ninja has . Would like to see how the Z400 performs against duke 390 not sure if it's out in India but it just got launched and available in Thailand Jan 2019. This would be a fairer comparison naked vs naked. Both are good bikes if you get turned on by the top speed then get a ninja but not many countries you can blast at 160+ and stay safe especially in a busy city where the Duke is easier to get around in. Just my 2 cents after having tried both bikes.
I dont know about the rider who was on ninja 400... My friend who owns duke 390 he professionally a track racer... And am not am just raw guy...in second gear at rev limiter or ninja is high i have beaten it everytime... But i still love duke no hatred for it... It even depends on rider if he knows to gear shift perfectly
Rider weight difference was huge for a small bike… if they would have traded bikes for a race, it would have been much worse for the Duke

KTM have done a great job. They've upped the ante on performance bikes at an incredible price point in India.
The RC390 and Duke 390 are futuristic, fully equipped, feature laden bikes.
If they were imported as opposed to being assembled here, they would've cost above 3 lakhs.
And people would've still bought them, albeit in lesser numbers than now.
I don't own a KTM.

My tuned 2020 R3, can keep up with these bikes in a drag race, I’ve had mine up to 114MPH, and looking forward to the new top speed after an ECU flash. It’ll be cool to see an in-line 4 ZX-4R, and hopefully a big bored, cross-plane Yamaha R3.

Honestly the Duke driver is slow on the shifts, I couldn't see clearly how the ninja driver was shifting but if you get away earlier, a few tricks here and there and you can win a drag race, but I still think the Ninja outperforms the Duke anyday, drag races never are an accurate indicator of performance

Yes, drag race isn't done on a straight unlimited road, it's done on a 1/4 or quarter mile distance. And both of those cases Duke 390 wins. In the video you have shared the Duke 390 was ahead for a long time till finally the Ninja pulled away because they went way beyond 1 km. Also the new Duke has restricted top end whereas mine has upto 173 km/h so it would be very hard for them.

Initial acceleration had more to do with KTM having a 32 Kg ( 70 L:b ) lighter rider.
