I remember at one point Miyamoto said that if there was one game Nintendo didn't make, but wish that they had thought of themselves, it was Minecraft. It looks like that idea may have had some serious influence on the direction of this game. So much possibility! Even though it's the "same Hyrule", I think we're going to be surprised with the level of novelty there is throughout the world.
Kinda glad that they didn’t make Minecraft though because… y’know… Nintendo.
Meanwhile, Microsoft/Mojang has continued to make free updates for the past 15-16 years, or however long ago Minecraft became Minecraft.

yeah this is the first zelda game developed after minecraft has really been popular. i have to imagine it was an influence.
@@shiverian5970 Aonuma said Skyrim was a big inspiration for Breath of the Wild, so it'll be interesting to see if he says Minecraft was a major influence on Tears of the Kingdom.
We saw the rewind feature used on a spike ball in the 2021 teaser, I imagine any object that was moved by physics will be susceptible to Recall. Snowballs or rocks rolling down hills, objects falling from the sky, objects thrown by enemies... I wonder if you can use it on a self-made vehicle that's falling from the sky because the battery ran out...
Yeah I think it will be anything that has been in motion. Perhaps similar to stasis but only for moving objects
Would be so cool if it would also work on some objects that don't move so you could find some secrets. Imagine rewinding broken stone pieces on the ground and a bridge get's repaired, making it possible to get access to other places, so many possibilities!
You were right in the end, you can use recall on a flying contraption, making it fall upwards while the battery recharges, making the battery pseudo-infinitely durable, which is cool.
I love how you see the Ascend power and immediately start scheming about how it might be glitched and abused to clip though unintended things.
And then they immediately show it "clipping" though an entire hill as an intended mechanic.
I think since you mentioned building, I thought of houses. If TOTK were to have a weird speedrun, similar to BOTW's Dogbutter%, you should have HOUSE%. Speedrun building a working shelter.
You could have sub categorizes for houses with a certain number of rooms/floors etc.

TotK seems like the Pokémon Gold/Silver to BotW’s Pokémon Red/Blue, if that makes sense. An entire new game of content on top of all of the old game’s locations, which are still accessible but noticeably different.
I wonder how many logs you can stick together before the game gets grumpy and/or refuses because if there isn't a limit I foresee someone trying to build a tower to a sky island for the lolz.

I honestly can't believe there are still people who are just calling this game a "glorified DLC". The amount of gameplay ideas and possibilities the tools shown in this gameplay trailer has my mind RACING and I cannot wait to play this game!
I remember seeing people criticize Kirby Planet Robobot for being a "glorified expansion" of Triple Deluxe before it came out and turned out to be the most glorious fanservice game ever, and as someone who loves both games I will NEVER judge a sequel for having the same graphics and some of the same gameplay as its predecessor.

If you pay attention to the background while Link is building the raft you can see there are whole islands highlighted. This ability is not just for crafting but can move entire land masses around.

A lot of what might, at first glance, seem like reused assets, but in reality these seem SO different! I’m so hyped

It's cool to see how different players react to the trailer like there are normal players, speedrunners, and lore diggers.
The fact that somebody commented "LBP vibes" in 9:25 made me so happy that I wasn't the only one feeling that level of nostalgia... LBP2 was so ahead of its time.
One thing i noticed that nobody really talked about is that they fuse more than 1 item to a wooden stick, this might mean we can have even more combinations than the pairs we first thought of

Nope, he put the rock on a shield. It'd be interesting, though.
@@tbhandrew5857 There *is* the option to fuse the stone to the log club in the UI. He chose to put it on the shield, so we don't know whether the stone replaces the log or gets added on top of it.
edit: Someone else's comment mentioned the green glow around the log club wasn't on other things and likely indicates un-fusing, and I now agree with them.
@@jeffboy4231 I missaw, I thought that they put both the rock and log onto the wooden stick, but they just put the rock on the shield. However, the option for the wooden stick was still there when fusing the rock so either the rock replaces the log which is more probable, but it can also mean it could add on even more. We can't really tell so we will just have to wait for the game to release 😊

I can't believe Nintendo straight up gave Link the Tool Gun and the ability to noclip from Garry's Mod.
First of all, I think this video was great. I loved seeing you so excited speculating over the wacky stuff we can do in the new game. I think the content for speedrunning this game is going to be insane. I'm thinking about getting involved even myself.
PS. You should totally get back into Wind Waker runs ;) (I'm selfish and love them.)
Ya know how you could see the Hand powers turning on and off conditionally as Link was riding or climbing. If you notice when he skydives into the river at exactly 11:48 in the demo vid; the Ascend power is off while he's falling, but the exact frame that Link is totally under water, the rune lights up again. And it goes off when he breaks the surface to swim. I'm taking this as a clue there will be real underwater action. Or at least somehow needing to use that power while fully underwater.
When he fused the wooden stick to the log in the menu it changed name to log-club, and it looked like it was still a viable candidate for fusing.

I'd have to disagree. There's a slight green tint around the icon for the log club that's not there on the wooden stick. I take this to mean that if he selected the log club he'd have the option to un-fuse it, instead of being able to use it again. It'd be amazing if you could though

24:07 there's another of those unfinished houses at the Stable like at the one at the end. Maybe you build them as you run around Hyrule and those become the warp points?
I really hope we get to rebuild hyrule in this game
My theory is that is just building materials for building whatever, house, cars, you name it.
@@mapletea3296 Its probably excatly this and a reason for materials to be around everywhere in Hyrule. So you can build Vehicles with it but still rebuild Hyrule along the way. Would make as a great grand finale, that after everything is over you defeated evil, rescued the one who is dear and helped rebuild your country. Terry Town was just a test and taste ;)
I can already imagine meme speedruns with the building mechanics. For example Peepee%, where you a....you know.... as fast as possible.
The rewind feature can be used on other things too, it's teased in one of the earlier trailers where link rewinds a spiky ball rolling down a hill , I imagine that it might make its way into rewinding enemies abilities later in the game with a + version of the ability similar to stasis
Finally all those extra materials will be put to good use I remember having tons of those eyeballs 🤣

The rewind feature can be used on anything, remember the previous trailer when link used something to rewind a Boulder? Well he can use it on that. Hope that helps!

on the horse, on the wall, or in the water abilities are disabled when you aren't in position to use them. but we've seen recall used on additional items such as falling boulders in previous trailers. the possibilities seem limitless with everything you can use these new abilities on!
Imagine if an enemy throws a rock and you can recall hit the enemy? 😂
I have never been more excited for a game in my entire life and I NEED IT.
Beginning of gameplay where boulder falls there's a green swirls on right cliff. I think that swirl is another way to transport to the sky islands when there's not a boulder around falling from the sky.

The rewind thing was shown in E3 2021 when Link used the huge mace sphere against the Bokoblins and Moblins
A good way to look at it is that it’s kind of like playing through the adult version of hyrule in oot sure it’s the same hyrule but it’s different and things have changed sometimes better or worse
Regarding your question about the Recall ability, the first trailer has a clip of Link using it on a spiked ball.

Would be cool if there would be some kind of upgrade benches on the map where you can ad even more things to already combined stuff that increases the stats of something and repairs the object if it's about to break
Checkout 6:36. It looks like you can stack fuses. The already-fused weapon is not grayed out when Link is selecting where to fuse the next thing. He chose to fuse to shield, but it looks like he could have also fused a rock ON TOP OF the "Log Club" 😮

@@CarbonMage yes, that's possible. If it were a swap though, I'd expect some indication of what would be replaced. The fact that it doesn't just itself as a "stick+log" but a "log club" makes me think we're not replacing the second thing. Some have since speculated that maybe there's a cap of three things stacked together... I guess we have to wait to find out for sure.
What if putting food on arrows made them work as bait, like you shoot a bokoblin with a meat arrow and they just stop to pull the arrow out of their arm and eat the meat

The X-Y-Z coordinates are final since they mentioned at the start that development is over but also can help when an island is a over another island or on the ground to be more specific with the layers of the world. Underground,base,and sky

The fuse thing is cool but it does look a bit funny when Link is carrying them on his back haha.
You know what would be cool? The dlc being a multiplayer mode imagine the crazy things you could build with them.

I think it’s a little early to say, and we don’t know if they were using a demo build or not, but I will say the frame rate looked really stable. I wonder if they were able to optimize the engine since it’s the same as BotW and give it more stability.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but imagine if the things you fuse together are persistent. Like you create a car on the surface, go up to the sky islands, and when you come back down it'd still be there. That would explain how you could get big items like in the picture, you'd search around for them and construct your car piece by piece.

Crazy theory. What if link is ethnically related to the zonai, It would be a good reason why the arm fused with him. Also it would explain the hostile and non hostile constructs? Would love to get thoughts on that.

With how emergent and modular they're making the game, I can almost guarantee that the recall rune can be used to rewind anything, at least anything that isn't an enemy, but just like stasis it might even be able to be used on enemies, who knows.
