- Square Enix has revealed a sequel to Octopath Traveler. Octopath Traveler II features 8 new characters and a brand new intertwining story. Octopath Traveler 2 launches February 24, 2023.

After that little initial bit of music in the beginning, I realized what it was, gasped, and fistpumped about 1,000 times. I love Octopath Traveler so much.

That was my issue with the first game and as well as the conclusion to the eight paths
@@netabarekun2087 mine too they all seemed so disconnected so it made me care less for the characters who are supposed to be on a journey together.
@@Ty-cx5zj I was okay with it because there was dialogue between the characters outside of the story, but I get what you mean.

Literally says intertwined in the trailed I don't expect a full on connection but a solid improvemnet
I loved the first one. Played it 3 times. Hope that this one is even better.
Did you play the prequel mobile version yet? Champions of the Continent? If not it’s really good and definitely will hold off until this one comes out. I got over 100 hours of gameplay on mine lol

In some ways i wish it would have continued with the same characters because I feel there was much to be desired in the stories BUT I'm not complaining.

love the first one. its rly a gem. my only gripe was there was no challenge for your built team midgame all the way to the end. it wasnt really balanced for the late talent tree. the only test was the hidden boss fight/true ending and even then it wasnt hard to clear.
I mean grinding up your last additions to the roster can be annoying and some fights are challenging. But I like that it allows for experimentation with builds and jobs. You don’t have to do any one specific build to win

was smart to finally release in the west a month ago, all that f2p mobile audience to buy in now, and not just a nintendo locked release for a year this time

Fire Emblem Engage in January (and on my birthday no less), This one in Feb (and on the day of my favorite Aunt's birthday as well) and Zelda on the day of my Baby brother's birth and Grandfather's death......seriously got good vibes on the releases next year (I thought I'd be focusing on getting Engage next year, looks like I have a secondary goal with Octopath! Loving the Day and Night changes to a character's action! It gives them more characterization! Like what was shown with Hikari! He still an honorable warrior and Samurai PUBLICALLY! But his Night change shows he has an understanding that sometimes "the clang of coins can loosen lips when the blade fails to do so!" So I'm interested in seeing everyone elses actions and how they show off MORE of their character) Each of the new set of characters got me interested! Especially the Scholar! We go from a pretty boy popular with the girls Hogwarts teacher, to a Fallen Professor giving me "The Fugitive" vibes with how his wife and daughter are murdered, he's framed for it and now on the run to find their killer! And the Merchant! We go from a peppy young girl out to make her mark in the world to a well dressed chad who illustrates what I'm liking about the setting of the game! This time it's not medieval times, but instead looks like an "industrial revolution" setting! It's rare to see this setting used in this genre (either Medieval times or Modern-Future Era FF8 and 15 Style!) So it's nice to see
I think it's good they're keeping a focus on the main classes that made up everyone's starting class in the first game and the mobile game. Keep what's familiar but EXPAND as the character's are NOT the same as their predecessors from the first game as they have different motivations, goals, ETC (Like Dancers of the first and second game are HUGELY different from each other! To the point the Dancer of this sequel is more like the Merchant of the First Game with the Revenge storyline given to the Scholar of this sequel.) It's nice to see them interacting story wise as well! The skits were nice, but the stories felt like "everyone was ghosts just along for the ride" in other character's chapters! I really feel the game should have everyone have just a Chapter 1 EACH, and then Chapters 2 and beyond is the combined story of everyone and the main plot with their individual stories outside the main plot being side quests (character quests if you will) Or the characters meeting up is based on WHAT order you beat everyone's Chapter 1's to increase replayablity (Like Imagine beating Scholar first and his journey of escape leads him into Dancer who's your next character's "storyline!" but if you went Merchant first then HE would be the one meeting with Dancer) in future runs! Well I wait with much anticipation LOL

This is awesome, I loved the first Octopath Traveler!
I didn't for mili second expect an Octopath 2. After the mobile gacha game it seemed to me like the series was kinda over or just a 1 time thing but as soon as I heard that melody at the start I SCREAMED. Octopath 1 is such a sleeper hit and even though it's not the most grandiose or RPGs it holds a special place in my heart for giving me a genuine sense of adventure beyond what I feel with most games. The artstyle is also absolutely majestic, the music is some of the best I've ever heard and the gameplay is fantastic even beyond just turn based standards. Here's to many more years of Octopath 2!

It looks like we're having guest party members for each first chapter. @ 1:46 Hikaru have two buddies, in a different trailer they are in a boss battle. @ 1:48 Osvald is with Emerald and @ 1:52 Agnea is with Gus.

This reveal is such a huge shock to me. I thought Octopath Traveler series is gonna be stuck on mobile for eternity and the HD-2D titles will be focusing on new games and classic remakes (FF5 and FF6 HD-2D when?)
Glad they decided to continue the series, this series is the perfect classic JRPG for modern times bruh. And they already adressed the issue with OT1? man i'm hyped for this
Looking forward to this. Since part 1 was a near perfect game in my eyes... I just want them to do the same but make them communicate more with each other during the story. Also give us some end game dungeons (several pls) with lots of loot this time pls. :P
The fact everyone is hyped about this game kinda shows that (oldschool) Valkyrie Profile could actually be still well received if they gave it a proper go...

While I'm happy OP2 will be released, I kinda hoped for different classes, not the same as the ones in the first game.
So excited for this! Octopath Traveler might just be my favorite Switch game to date. Definitely playing as Throne as my main for this one!

It is so odd this is also coming to PlayStation even though the first game isn't there lol.
My gripe about the first Octopath was the lengthy dialog, it was so long and drawn out in some parts in the story. My hope is that they've dialed it back a little.
