Claude is right up there with him. Disgusting. I have no words for him. When he said he impregnated countless women, I immediately wanted to vomit. He made me that sick to my stomach when he called poor Throné his. “LITTLE SEED”. Her screaming was literally me. Killing him was just as satisfying as Harvey. Manipulating her life to make her come to kill Claude and his talk of his filthy semen and seed made me want to castrate him and f his wound multiple times with a knife. “My little seed” has to be the most putrid, pedophilic, and vomit-inducing thing I’ve EVER heard. Ever. Who talks like that?! If I were Throné I’d have committed suicide in my mortification. KEEP MARIETTA’S NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH! YOU RAPED ALL THOSE WOMEN! And think of what the other Blacksnakes would feel when they found out that Mother, Father and all of them were your filthy disgusting children!
I came to this partly to see Claudes... between Inventor Partitio and Brands Blade Hikari, I kind of killed him before he could summon any of his minions.
Fun story about my fight with Harvey: I had damaged him enough to near death and had poisoned him before his big speech. The next turn he summoned two elementals and began to charge his big attack… until the poison dealt 500 damage to him and killed him right then. Had a good chuckle to myself about how much posturing he had done only to die to some poison damage right afterwards.
Funniest instance of this for me was with Trousseau, since he says "I NEED MORE POISON" as he's charging up his concoction after the phase transition. Well, you got your poison.
For me, I wound up semi-accidentally cheesing the fight by using the Arcanist's Reflective Barrier combined with Sealtige's Seduction. I think Harvey wound up hurting himself more than I did in that battle, which is fitting given how he ultimately goes out.
ne thing I mentioned in another vid I wanna mention here: I love how the villains aren't jsut evil counterparts to the heroes (which i love btw) but alsso they're all people who "deny the dawn" i.e. don't care about the future Trousseau sees no hope in the future after losing someone he loves and so beleives the only way to save anyone is to kill them, denying their future. Mugen clings to Ku's past of warfare and bloodshed and sees no worth in a peaceful future the darkling, after being possessed by The Shadow and further tortured by the Dark Hunter, has no desire for a future and only wants to kill and destroy Roque doesn't want things to change, he only seeks to maintain a status quo that ears him profit Harvey is so driven by his envy and hatred of Osvald he would do anything to deny him a future, and futher is OBSESSED with the past via Darquest and the mystery of the One True Magic Dolcinea has forgotten why she became a star in the first place and so ignores everything to cling to her status, denying Agnea's dreams of stardom. kaldena is so driven by her bloody past and her lust for revenge she has lsot sight of all else, and thus has denied several innocent people their future

Hikari’s really spoiled me with being my first final boss, I was somewhat expecting some other final bosses to feel like 2-3 different fights in a gauntlet rather than a phase 1 phase 2 type deal

No other character has made me feel more sheer disgust than Professor Harvey from Octopath Traveler 2. At least everyone else in the campaign had a good reason for doing what they did. The Lajackal or the Malamaowl of the Sorrowful Moon was tortured for years by the Dark Hunter, and not being chosen as Ochette's Familiar at the beginning of their campaign is what made them snap. Trousseau was absolutely broken by the death of his sister which came absolutely randomly, driving him to think that the only way to cleanse suffering from the world was to cleanse humanity from the world. Kaldena saw her entire tribe being murdered in front of her. At the very least Roque was redeemed at the end of Partitio's campaign, he realized he went too far with his capitalist ideals. Dolcinaea pushed the memory of being abandoned in Sai to a dark corner in her mind, never wanting to think about being dressed in flea-ridden rags or eating rotten food ever again. Claude, despite his heinous actions, just kind of came out of nowhere at the end of Throne's campaign. Emperor Mugen is the only one who came slightly close to my level of hatred for Harvey. But Harvey? Oh, let me tell you what he did. Burned Osvald's house to the ground Framed Osvald for murder Anticipated Osvald's escape from Frigit Isle Used Osvald's wife's blood to make a suffering homonculus Made Osvald have to put his wife out of her misery BRAINWASHED OSVALD'S CHILD TO MAKE HER THINK HARVEY WAS HER DAD USED THAT CHILD AS A SACRIFICE TO AWAKEN THE ONE TRUE MAGIC... all because Harvey resented Osvald for being smarter than him.
Yeah but it just takes a few turns until it dies anyway cause 1HP is one 1HP. All of the bosses have a phase transition where they are stuck at 1HP. In Ochettes case it just takes a bit longer. I know this cause I hit most of these bosses for well over twice their total HP in one turn and after some dialogue they died instantly after one normal attack lol.
In terms of final bosses, if u don’t use the abating orb glitch, Ochette’s is probably the hardest because of the stipulations to get rid of the 1HP lock. Claude is also up there I just personally had a much harder time dealing with ochette’s final boss over Claude’s.
one of the biggest surprises for me was with Trousseau, his second phase is pretty well animated and I think he changes a lot compared to the other bosses, whether it's with his red eyes or even the rage he inspires .
No boss made me so mad as did Trousseau's. The debuffs, the rain, and the story made him an insufferable jerk to beat. I'm not sure but I think it took me 10-15 turns to finally die and by that point I just said "screw it" and Debuffed the hell out of the boss and used Drastic Measures 3 times (boosted of course) and beat him. Even though he was far easier to beat compared to the other bosses (I like to at least try to beat the boss of story modes with the actual characters if possible) he is possibly the only boss to make me actually upset.
I basically did the majority of the other stories jsut cause I couldn't beat Trousseau and when i couldn't beat dolcinea i tried to fight the darkling and when i couldn't do THAT I ultimately ended up fighting Mugen and beating HIM as my first final boss. I'mnot very good at this game alright >.>
Since I started with Castti I did Trousseau last and he was a complete pushover since I had Armsmaster at that point, I wish I could relate... My first few final bosses were real tough at least.

I don’t think there was any other boss fight that got me unreasonably angry as Harvey The mf took his daughter, killed his wife, plotted that shit, brainwashed her daughter, falsely accused Osvald, took credit for OSVALDS work, made a hybrid monster OUT OF HIS WIFE, and tried to sacrifice his daughter. Needless to say, I made absolutely sure I would cheese the fight and make Harvey bite the curb
I love that train boss as it reminds me of the Doom Train boss from Final Fantasy 6 that became a powerful summons in other Final Fantasy games. Too bad the Octopath version can't be suplexed! 😂

Kaldena was such a brutal fight. And when she went full dark souls Boss i really had to strategize and think ahead more than i had to with any other boss. Really awesome boss. Even gets its own theme in phase 2 that mixes Temenos theme into it.
For me it was Lajackal/Malamaowl of the surrowing moon. My first game over on octopath traveler 2 was against this boss and litteraly one step closer to victory. Lost aganst it atleast 3 times or 2. Mainly because ive chisen hikari as starter traveler and i chose mahina as ochette’s companion.
I'm glad this exists, because I set up all the bosses in a way that I could kill them in a single turn, so I just skipped most of their mechanics and phases and music, except Hikari, which had seperate fights.

It's pretty much obvious that Ochette's final boss cannot be cheesed. It will be stuck at 1 HP no matter what until it "devours" Ochette.

This is the exact order I beat them in albeit with different strategies. Didn’t even know that Claude could summon the parents.

Good question, Counter only works if you wield a sword, I tried having a full sword team but didn't like the job compositions.
