- Small car crash test compilation - The Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla sedan, Toyota Corolla hatchback, Honda Civic sedan and Honda Civic hatchback are rated acceptable.
The Kia Forte, Subaru Crosstrek and the Subaru Impreza sedan and wagon are rated poor.
IIHS developed the updated side crash test after research showed that many of the real-world side impacts that still account for nearly a quarter of passenger vehicle occupant fatalities are more severe than the original evaluation.
The updated side crash test uses a heavier barrier traveling at a higher speed to simulate the striking vehicle. The new barrier weighs 4,200 pounds - close to the weight of today’s midsize SUVs - and strikes the test vehicle at 37 mph, compared with a 3,300-pound barrier traveling at 31 mph in the original evaluation.

Side impact one of the worst and deadliest accidents
The civic looks like it could withstand the impact of a train. Very impressive design by Honda.
Not surprised by the Crosstrek. It’s probably the oldest one still on the market. Let’s see how the new one fares.
For a brand like Subaru, who markets their cars for being super safe, this is pretty upsetting.
They do the bare minimum to get “Good” whenever IIHS makes a test harder they don’t do that well.
I just bought a crosstrek too 🥲
@@corinneel9392 likewise, and the same color and trim level, but a six-speed.
The Outback and Legacy did incredibly well in this crash tests. The Crosstrek and Impreza are the oldest vehicles Subaru is still selling so it’s not surprising the Crosstrek did poorly. I’d like to see the new Impreza and Crosstrek in this new crash test.
@@HelenFire420 legacy was not tested
0:30 he thought someone stole his camera
3:32 death star laser firing
After years of watching these, I want to know how the crash test vehicle itself does in crash tests. We need to see the crash test vehicle being impacted by other crash test vehicles.
Not as other youtuber would do😂
The Sentra and Crosstrek tests look the same to me? I'll have to look up the data.
I vote for the Honda!
like- nice upload! mate~🤙
Mazda 3 did best with mostly good ratings
Yeah, something like Honda, they are good too in safety
In the SUV video, the Mazda I think scores the lowest with the Ford Explorer scoring the highest
Best work in world...
Thank you very much
Please test the Versa S!
How do they score it tho bc ive been looking at the kia forte and compared to the nissan they looked similar so how did one do poorly and the other one did better ?
Head did a 180 twist upon impact...
how come so many car makers leave out backseat side airbags that are in the seats along with curtains. And some leave out knee airbags. and i wonder if they test with a full tank of gas or would that matter
U would think vehicles would be built stronger😳
1:20 Gasoline!
I wonder if any of the controlled test crashes ever resulted in a fireball!
Wonder how well a Mazda 3 can score in this section
What is the difference between Poor and Acceptable?
IIHS uses a system from Good to Poor:
Good
Acceptable
Marginal
Poor
i think the 5 cars is mediums
How is the crosstrek a sedan?
@@taMeskait's based on the hatchback impreza though
Last time my friend Zack had a car he crashed into a Lamborghini Aventador 😢😢
Not fair
How did the Nissan Sentra got a better rating than the first two though? 🤣
OOOOOOOH WOOOOOOOOOOW
Controls could do better
Question: If the car's fuel tank was drained and the fuel replaced with a safer liquid, how was the car able to be driven (1:34) to the crash site?
Did they clarify it was a safer fluid? I believe it was just fuel.
Fuel tanks typically don't ignite in crashes, and they also likely have fire safety equipment on-site.
@@gfries4906fuel tanks don’t ignite unless if it was punctured, which only happens in a 100 MPH collision or something
Hi
Achieving an acceptable rank in the side impact test where an SUV sized test car ramming into you, is actually good result. It goes without saying, SUV's have a higher height profile compared to a sedan. Therefore, sedans will tend to do badly against a SUV. I understand the need to use such a test car because the plague that is the SUVs, are too prevalent on the roads.
How the fuck is a Crosstrek a small sedan?
Small cars not small sedans
the toyota corolla is not bad
Have the Nissan an acceptable rating but it appears a deeper intrusion than the one you gave a poor rating
lets put some kia boys in that forte, and afterwards ask questions like, how you doin, you feel ok? you wanna steel another vehicle? tell me what ya think!
What make subaru score “poor”. no trim pieces fell out. mannequin looks intact to me 😂😂
Its all about forces on the dummy. The car can withstand the forces, but in doing so, it transfers more to the dummy. Its a delicate balance of the car absorbing enough of the impact to make it survivable, but not absorbing so much that it crushes you.
The Subaru crumpled too much and smashed itself into the side of the dummy
Why do the dummies in side impacts don't have arms?
What
omg

These tests are stupid. People that run red lights are doing 50-60+ mph. They need to bring the test up to those speeds so these car companies are forced to improve.
Fhtry😮
