      @@ryanchivwara5013they understood how to exploit the porpoise effect to make the car have INSANE rotation in the corner entry phase, they basically delt with the porpoising on the straights so they could run the floor in a range where the downforce levels were a lot higher throughout the corner. Porpoising wasn’t effecting the cars post breaking faze and middle/corner exit. Only on prolonged straights. If you understood the regulations as originally written you would’ve come to the conclusion that the porpoising was gonna be there but if you wanted a car to truly generate the downforce from the floor you had to “deal with it” until you got to the corners and could force it away because of suspension dive/good damping (front compressed rear extends, forces the car into a state of dive and breaks the porpoising effect) Ferrari KNEW that was gonna be the way to go, Mercedes did too, they just got it wrong and decided to lobby for the floor edge change to get rid of it under “safety grounds”

    I'm pretty certain that DRS (and thus higher top speed) actually deteriorated the porpoising situation, that's why they had it for Friday practice and deactivated for the rest of the weekend in 2022. The ride-height TD was the factor that improved the bottoming in 2023.
    But overall great video once again!

    • @yelistener
      @yelistener  Před 2 měsíci

      No, DRS absolutely helped limiting porpoising. DRS-open practically increases rear ride height. There were onboard clips compareable from 2022, that cars ran more stable when DRS open vs DRS closed.

    • @supaahflyy
      @supaahflyy Před 2 měsíci

      @@yelistenermakes sense. DRS is dropping drag and therefore downforce to go faster in a straight line.
      Less downforce = less bottoming of the car and therefore less chance of starting the cyclical porpoising cycle!

      Verstappen has never had a strong team mate. The time he did it was riccardo ages ago and he didn't do too well against it granted he was still just a kid.
      Verstappen stats are overly inflated. He is in the most dominant car in the most dominant era with no regulation change in sight because the FIA don't want to disrupt (like they did with Mercedes for example).
