It's about time a true builder/developer took tiny homes seriously in Las Vegas! Thank You Sir!
Realtors should start a program to help seniors too. If a senior had purchased a home but has 1 or 2 spare rooms, they can introduce them other seniors looking for a room. Or hire someone to search roommate websites (introductions done at their office?)

So where are these seniors living right now? My guess is not on the streets. So why is a tiny house community okay for seniors but was disassembled and hauled away from the HOMELESS?? Don't get me wrong, I'm not against housing for seniors but they at least have a roof over their heads right now whereas the homeless do not!! My husband and I are both disabled seniors. We lived in a mobile home most of our married life but after years of pressure from family & friends, we sold it and bought a house. What I wouldn't give to turn the clock back 19 years and stay in our mobile home. We need to help EVERYONE who needs an affordable house, not just one set of people. When you stop and consider how many of the homeless are veterans and we are ignoring their needs, why worry about seniors before getting the homeless off the streets???
We are living in travel trailers and weekly's! Spending all our money trying to live. Those lucky enough to be in regular apts etc. have family helping them out. Oh ya I forgot about the van lifers 55+ because again they can't afford anything else. You are quite judge mental and I'll informed. Even if we have shelter we are in need of decent places to live. There are many programs to help the homeless, hardly anything to help seniors. Seniors are the biggest demographic to already be homeless or to soon become homeless and what you are saying is they should become homeless before getting any help.
Just one of many veterans programs. Don't get me wrong I think if you have fought for our country you should be given a home and utilities, groceries for the rest of your life.

Tiny homes is a misnomer, the correct term is micro homes. Due to racist upper income white woman complaining at Las Vegas city council meetings, this micro home development didn't get approved for the general home buying public that can't afford $350,000 + houses or a $200,000+ condominium. So the developer was able to get city council approval by limiting the development to buyers/tenants age 55+. Outrageous, so many renters are suffering due to wealthy Californians that have priced locals out of the market.
The racists that fought this development used the ridiculous excuse of micro homes not having washer & dryers which would attract homeless & other lowbrow people to the area- 100% false, but the city council believed it. Shame on the mayor for not being an advocate for working families with annual incomes under $30,000!

Seniors in tiny homes next door to "low income" apartments- great, the thugs have a whole bunch of victims right next door.
I hope the builders and politicians put their own parents there! I would never put my mother in that lame house, doesn't have the space to even move, I foresee only accidents waiting to happen to your seniors. Lame.
If your annual income is less than $35k and rents in bad area apartments are unaffordable, than a micro home costing $60,000 to build or rents for under $800, it's not a bad deal compared to lousy apartments with noisy window A/C units, bad insulation, etc. That said, seniors should have better options.
