    Hi friends - A reminder that BLACK LIVES MATTER!
    It’s important to remember and consider BLM in all aspects of your life, including your plant hobby! I’ve created a doc that specifically considers ways to support BLM in the plant community. This is created by me, a white woman, mostly for non Black people (but all are welcome to peruse). This is an ever-changing doc and I welcome all questions/concerns/recommendations in my IG dms (@goodandplanti).

    Oh thank thank you! I made literally every mistake and am just hoping now i can nurse my little storebought peperomia back to life. To start with, i didn't notice that whoever potted them (or maybe a little hand at the store) had patted the crown and most of the leaves were actually detatched and just sitting in place 😫 then i left it in the spagnum from the store. Then i didnt realise it was 'succulent' and it probably got overwatered, exacerbated by being in a teeeny decorative pot with no drainage 😖😖 now ive repotted it 4 times, trying to fix soil and drainage. Poor plant. I promise that most of my plants are well studied and cared for!! Cross your fingers for my peperomia.

  • @BSG0005
    @BSG0005 Před 3 lety +16

    They’re also really susceptible to stem rot. I learned that the hard way! I like to spray my plants periodically with Neem oil to stave off pests. Well it’s not a good idea to do that with peperomias! After spraying one of my peperomias, its stems rotted and started falling off one by one until the plant was dead. ☹️ I was, however, able to propagate the leaves.

    • @GoodandPlanty
      @GoodandPlanty  Před 3 lety +4

      oh nooo 😭 i could definitely see that happening with how thin and fragile the stems are. at least they are easy to prop!

    • @marymccormick7806

    Great video Kat 😊 🙌!! About leaf cuttings : they are very much doable and work out great! Whether you use a full or half leaf, you can propagate in soil, water or sphagnum prop box 😊Sometimes my watermelon peperomia stems kind of "explode/disintegrate" when i try to propagate in water and so I'll just cut the stem off completely and just propagate the leaf.

    • @GoodandPlanty
      @GoodandPlanty  Před 3 lety

      Oh no! I would try the spagh moss method if water isn't working for you. Make sure the cutting has a decent amount of stem and put it in a see-through container with spagh in it. I put my container under grow lights and my peperomia put out roots in 1-2 weeks but a bright window would also work. I would try to take 2-3 cuttings because sometimes they just don't work out. Wishing you the best of luck! ❤️

    • @GoodandPlanty
      @GoodandPlanty  Před 3 lety +2

      it sounds like too much light to me! the one i have near a south facing window is placed a little bit above my window and is about 2ft back. i think that's about as much light as it can take. a southeast windowsill is probably a bit too much :( the strong light and sun stress probably made your plant
      flower but it isn't sustainable

      Lila Smith Thats totally common! I think a lot of people (myself included) say that they are succulent-like but don’t stress enough the difference in light they can handle. I think it will bounce back after you move it though. And if not, they are luckily easy to propagate! 😇

    • @dianesheehan8225
      @dianesheehan8225 Před 2 měsíci

      Yup, I throw loose turtles in a terrarium, they turn into thick mats of vines. Pink lady I have done from cut leaves and the stem for two babies from one leaf. I’ve also done Obtusifolia that way, but it will lose variegation if just a leaf. Ruby cascade from leaves. Kiwi twist and Hope also. A tip cutting will keep variegation. Leaf cuttings are slower to get going but once they do, it is a perfect plant like grown from seed, not a mid cut base or anything. It makes a pretty plant.
