I would like to see you do full fight "film study" meaning that you basically do commentary as you play a fight and point things out in the fight that are Necessary for learning and growth in the sweet science. You can pause the fight or rewind it or slow it down to show techniques that are being displayed in the fight. Also you can show and elaborate on what's going on in the fight, and how the fighter or fighters are making adjustments in there game plan as the fight go's on.
That would be alot of fun. We can learn from the old timers /the greats. Or any stylistic fights that stand out to you and you can elaborate, teach, and point out what is happening.
I mean literally turn the volume off so we only hear your commentary and teaching so we don't get distracted by the commentators on the fight especially the ones that are biased or talking about stuff that is not relevant to what's happening in the ring. We just get your lesson on what you are pointing out to us.
I would really love to see that. Especially FILM study of Miguel cotto(my favorite fighter of all time) and James toney, Mayweather, even Mohammed Ali,joe Frazier, Floyd Patterson, if you can find videos of Jack Dempsey, rocky Marciano, even the time of duran, herns, Hagler, Leonard.
I would love to re watch any fights of any generation especially the old timers and with you teaching what we are seeing pointing things out like tactics, techniques etc....
Well I know I wrote alot but I'm having fun with that idea. But I do very much enjoy your content and am very thankful that we get to from someone of your caliber and experience. Thank you and God bless you and yours

Hey tony, just want to say I love the content, you give out so much information I almost feel like you are my personal trainer lol I grew up watching boxing with my father as it was his favorite sport. Unfortunately he passed away with covid. The and what sparked my interest bwck in boxing was my VR headset. I would love so much for u to do a video on these apps. I feel like it's a great tool to exercise although it probably hinders boxing skill just a hit. Either way I'd love to see what u think of these apps on the vr headset mostly the creed boxing app and the thrill of the fight app. I have so much fun on these but again id really love to see what u think in review and your personal opinion. Anyways thank you so much for the great content, you have one of the best channels in all of youtube and thank so much for the great content and please keep up the great work, thank you!!!!

I mix in 4 runs every week in addition to my boxing/kick boxing, varying degrees of intensity and length from 5k to 10k. I don't aim for speed too much, thus keep to around a just below 60 min for 10k, or 30-ish for 5k. Really does wonders for your long-term and also short-term recovery, in the ring and outside. You can gas out in 3 min, and after 1 min you're nearly back to 100%. But just need to be careful and feel around to avoid injuries!

I like this exercise, there is not a track around where I live that is measured 400 meters like the one you described and at the moment I don't have a heart rate monitor.
Anyway I try to run "boxing specifically" for instance in a fight or spar we have our rhythm but we also use bursts of energy as we throw combos or defend or bounce in and out of range etc....
I noticed how when we box/spar we don't use energy at 1 pace, it varies.
So I set a timer for 3 minute rounds like any other training exercise with 1 minute rest, I'll start the round with a jog then I'll sprint then jog then sprint back and forth, I'll also switch it up and use lateral movements too. I'll keep randomly switching it up. For me it feels like a very intense fight/spar energy wise. The idea is to make it sport specific as much as possible. I jog as if I'm in my rhythm then I'll sprint as if I'm throwing a combo then back to jogging as if I Finnished my combo and stepped out then I'll sprint again like I'm exchanging with my opponent. I'll switch to lateral movement after sprints as if I Finnished exchanging and stepped out laterally. When 3 minutes is up I rest for a minute then go again for another 3 minute round.
Anyway I just wanted to share something I personally do that works very well for me. But like anything it's always good to switch up exercises, so I really want to try what you just showed us in the video.
I'll find a field that I can measure about 400 meters around and get a heart rate monitor. I like that idea for 1 time a week. And I'll do my "boxing specific" run 1 a week also.

Love your videos, but as a mountain bike enthusiast I can tell you that my heart rate can vary quite a bit from one day to another doing the same prescribed workout.
If I'm fatigued, it could be 15bpm higher than if I come in to the same workout with, say, 3 days rest since my last ride.
Hydration and stress are also factors in what my heart rate is.
That's why training with a Power Meter to get fit on the bike trumps heart rate.

      @justincase2281 Před 2 lety +2

@@freespeech4023 I was. Got into working out for sports at around age 13 and just kept it going. Was a big kid, but had trouble with my weight since infancy so I worked out constantly as I got older to lose weight. A buddy of mine became a pro boxer and I used to spar with him in my late teens and early 20s. Got into a routine of long workouts 3 to 4 times per week while working physically tough jobs over the years. I got my work ethic from my parents who were raised during the Great Depression and WW2. My Dad was a commando in the South Pacific and got hardened by his experience there. He was a good man but tough as nails and had no patience for stupidity or laziness. So that was how I grew up, working, pitching in around the house, working out and working hard jobs. So that is still in me at close to 70, even with lots of arthritis and heart disease. But I have to say, overdoing it can be even more harmful than doing nothing. Gotta take things at your own pace, and feel mentally and physically good because of exercising. And if weight loss is the goal, I think it's more like 80 percent diet and 20 percent exercise. You could never burn enough calories to lose all the weight you want but exercise definitely helps.
So here's my basic routine at this age. Walk briskly Monday, Wednesday and Friday for an hour. Then do about an hour of calisthenics. Nothing crazy like I see young people doing on CZcams. Not a gymnast. Then Tuesdays and Thursdays I fyo boxing drills, shadow boxing and a complete dumbbell workout with 15 pounders. I double them for arm curls and such. Sometimes I'll do the "farmer's walk" holding about 25 pounds in each hand and walk the driveway up and back, doing dead lifts at the end of each walk. And I do maybe 6 sets of the walks and 10 dead lifts at the end of each walk. By that time I'm wasted. That's it. There are some days I just can't do much of anything because my heart is acting up or my arthritis is flaring up. So I just back off for a day or two. I know my limitations and am not trying to prove anything. Just trying to stay in some sort of decent shape while I still can. But the clock is running out and I feel it.
Oh well. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.😄 Cheers.👍

    A great run program:
Warm up with dynamic stretching and light hopping drills.
Now do 100 meter sprints. Do 2 more sprints than rounds you fight. Rest 2 mins between sprints.
Main work: run for 3 mins and rest one minute. Do two more rounds than you fight. Here's the kicker, rotate between running backwards and forwards each round. During the last two rounds use sidesteps instead of backwards or forwards. One round left and one round right sidestepping.
Finisher: jog for 5-10 minutes at an easy pace. Try it and thank me later!

    Hello Mr. Jeffries,
First, I want to thank you and your team for your CZcams channel. It is well dosed in form (appearance), substance (content) and product placement.
To be completely transparent with you, boxing does not interest me at all until I listen to you.
I say it to you without false flattery, it is you Mr. Tony Jeffries who gave me the taste to use boxing to try to find the form.
It turns out that I am in very poor physical condition 6'1'', 220 lbs (100 kg), and have a poor cardio condition.
I am writing this message to you because I tried to do the cardio drill for this capsule, but after 200 m my heart was beating at 150 BPM and I was no longer able to move forward. So I completed the lap of recovery. Then I made a second attempt and this time after only 100 m I was at the end of my capacity.
    What do you recommend to me to regain a cardiovascular condition at a level that will allow me to do your drill 800 x 2, recovery 140 BPM / 600 x 2 / recovery 140 BPM / 400 x 2 recovery 140 BPM / 200 sprints recovery 140 BPM?
Awaiting a response from you please accept my most sincere greetings, happy holidays to you and your familly!

    We start at 3:20min/km
And we finish at 5:00 min/km or even slower
Wouldn't It be Better running faster?
    Like:
    800 at 5km pace
    600 at 3k pace
    400 at 1500 pace
200 as fast as you can (or like 3/4 times 60m)

Question - if you are older (60) with max heart rate around 170 (tested...), should the recovery target still be 140 or adjusted lower? (by usual standards, my top heart rate to stay in fully aerobic cardio is around 133).
Also, did you say best to do this once a week? (not more...)

      1. Sounds like you would benefit from shadows boxing with some light weights or with your gloves on
      2. Padding & speed. Power is speed & force. Focus on your work that improves those two.
