ദൂതന്‍ അവ ളുടെ അടുത്തുവന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദൈവകൃപ നിറഞ്ഞവളേ! സ്വസ്‌തി, കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ!
ഈ വചനം കേട്ട്‌ അവള്‍ വളരെ അസ്വസ്‌ഥയായി; എന്താണ്‌ ഈ അഭിവാദനത്തിന്റെ അര്‍ഥം എന്ന്‌ അവള്‍ ചിന്തിച്ചു.
ദൂതന്‍ അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: മറിയമേ, നീ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ദൈവസന്നിധിയില്‍ നീ കൃപ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

അവന് വലിയ വനായിരിക്കും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പുത്രന്‍ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ അവനു കൊടുക്കും.
യാക്കോ ബിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്‍മേല്‍ അവന് എന്നേക്കും ഭരണം നടത്തും. അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്‌ അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല.
മറിയം ദൂതനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: ഇതെങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും? ഞാന്‍ പുരുഷനെ അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.
