  • A description of John Lingenfelter's creation, the Twin Turbo, 225 mph 2001 Corvette. This video is dedicated to John who could have mastered, surpassed, and excelled at anything he set his mind to. It is rare when all these qualities are in one person. Together with his supporting team, he achieved goals that will never surpassed from concept to reality. To John Lingenfelter (Oct 6, 1945 - Dec 25, 2003)

    Lingenfelter Performance pioneered GM's performance to what it is today. Callaway was a competitor but could not get the backing they needed to progress. If John Lingenfelter was alive today, I think the current Vettes and Camaros would be different and maybe even better. LPE was in that grasp until he passed. Such a sad outcome even though he died in what he loved most. Jim Scoutten and TNN did some awesome things back in the day. Mad respect and RIP to a legend.

    Father had one of these, #28 (#18? maybe? I don't recall). Was a green car, home was back in Waukesha County, WI. Prior he had an 85', with a 420cid Lingenfelter engine, Carroll Supercharging Paxton super charger. - I drove that two tone blue 85' car to a 11.79 in the quarter (with drag radials on the stock 16" wheels out back). It would bust the Goodyear GSC 275's at 70mph on the freeway. I would drive that car all day long with no anti-lock, no traction/stability. THIS CAR... This car scared me. entered the freeway from hwy 164 on to interstate 94 in THIRD GEAR rolling from about 25mph. I hit 92mph before I could finish saying "holy shit!" That car scared me, I really didn't enjoy that driving that car, left that one to my dad. RIP dad. He sold it back in 2004 - 2005? I think? I can't recall.

    and even if it was impossible, i do not think the limitation would be gearing.... i think the Corvette Lingefelter ZO-6 may have the right gearing to do it. not all cars have the same gearing, so to say just beacuse the Venum Viper or the, Ford GT can't do it beacuse they redline, it does not mean the Corvette Lingenfelter ZO-6 cant. the issue here would be how long the tires would last, they would probably be toast... and with the right tires and gearing its a good chance.

    @angryace13 Gearing is a major issue. When I say the same way I mean 6th gear. Even with 1300rwhp with gearing long enough to get to 226mph in 5th, 6th is too tall to pull. I used the Viper and Ford GT as an example because they both have that overdrive 6th used to get highway millage, they all reach top speed in 5th effectively. The ZR1 an exception. It would need extremely long 1-5 gears to attempt 300mph. Race transmissions is a different story :}

    @angryace13 The difference in aerodynamic drag at 255mph and 300mph is massive. Think the what, 1200hp SS built for top speed, more aerodynamic than a Corvette tapped at 267mph. Besides the fact that the a Z06 would have a pretty good chance at going airborne before 300mph. Not to mention they have trouble keeping the engine healthy doing mile runs, a run to 300 might be a bit much. But, I take that back, nothing is impossible, just highly doubtful .

    While I try to learn something everyday, acquiring useless information is not a very high priority. You are interested in past Toyota products. It is good that one specializes in at least one subject.
    However, I question your comment "It is in English dumbass [I added the capital letter in my ignorance]". This particular product [Supra] was designed in Japan by Japanese. Japan got its numbering system from Chinese. Chinese got theirs from India. We also got ours from India.
    Checkmate.

      +Bat Man Auto vs. Manual is an age old argument. Auto's are faster, manuals are more enjoyable to drive. It's all about preference.
