Great lines and I love the way the blade meets the bolster of the knife when closed: it's one arcing line. Also like the semi matte finish on the bolsters. The use of the entire bolster to unlock the blade is a great idea as well. So much easier to engage one big thing than something thinner and smaller. Finally, it's good to see a return to that blade shape. Not pointy with a long belly but a strong tip.
Your videos are terrific! You review great knives I've never heard of and wouldn't know anything about otherwise. I now have a list of French knives from your videos that I plan to purchase. Thanks!
Indeed, the part I have been waiting for! 🍷🧀🥖😊 It’s a beautiful knife. I would never use it, like my FP backlock onehand opening Laguiole in black horn. But they are beautiful. Another brand which I really like because of esthetics is the maker of the Parisien… Just can’t remember the name right now. Would love one of these knives. But, as stated here above, i would never use it. Thanks for the video. Edit: Strolling through your video feed I found that manufacturer, Perceval. Sooooo nice.
Clearly a handsome knife, but also the most interesting back-lock I've ever seen. I would never have guessed it even had a lock just by its appearance. Excellent review.
@@sam2cents There are already so many videos out there that explain the various locking mechanisms. Also, I dedicated an entire chapter of my book to the most common locking mechanisms.
@@StefanSchmalhaus I have your book and I love it. However, I meant more the way they put them in - the one above is a lock-back, but beautifully disguised.
Great video. I like FP designs, they all seem so elegant. Got 2 open orders with them at the moment. Also their customer service/communication is excellent. I also love their Magnum series corkscrews.
@@StefanSchmalhaus oh I learned that trick a long time ago when you made me buy several Thiers models, the Fantoni Dweller, a Lionsteel.... my wife blames "that German knife book guy" for it all!!

This knife looks awesome. Apparently, using it is a separate aesthetic pleasure.
Thanks for the video 👍
Thank you! Using the Pradel is an enjoyable experience.
A beautiful knife. Very well constructed. I was surprised when you revealed it was a lock back.
Yes, they have outdone themselves with this cool lock back design.
Beautiful knife, i love that European craftsmanship .....and always hungry by the end of your videos lol

Exquisite, and as you well say "it is no exception..."
The fit and finish of Fontenille Pataud knives is always impeccable.
I was wondering when we where going to the snacks😁. Great video as always.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The Perceval knife is called Le Français. I also own Perceval's Le Thiers knife which I haven't reviewed yet.

For some reason I haven't seen any of your uploads in my subscriptions for years. YT is shyte.
I release only a few videos per year, so you can easily binge-watch them in a single day. 😛

These are traditional French pocket knives. You can't take them apart. If this is important to you, buy a modern knife from Spyderco, Benchmade etc.
